The same thing happened in Australia a few years back except the anchorwoman was not saying such glowing things about her husband. Something about his 'balls' or lack thereof as I recall. She made a big apology on the news the next night to both her husband and the viewing public. There was big calls for her to be fired though. Interesting that in this case the woman hasn't made a public apology to her sister-in-law. Perhaps that particular relationship is beyond/not worth salvaging!

Thats so funny!! Its so easy to forget that you have a mike on I think!!

Well at least she was praising her hubby!!! thats nice to hear...
and although she called her sister in law a control freak, it could have been worse... thats pretty tame really...

I think its hysterical!:D

Stephanie Miller was talking about this yesterday and one of her guys asked why the sound guys wouldn't have turned her off. She said maybe she hadn't made friends with the sound guys.

It's also possible that she has a good relationship with her sister-in-law who may have said, "yep, I am a control freak".

this is awesome. so, I'm assuming the mic was only over the broadcast, not his actual speech live?

I love when she says "assholes!"

 That is freaken unbelievable. CNN, for god's sake. Making an error like that. I can't believe it. I could see maybe your local news channel making a mistake like that, but CNN! Poor Kyra, I love her. How embarrassing for her. Has she been back on the air since? OMG, what about her sister-in-law? Sunday night dinner should be fun

Edit: The zipper flying up over Bush talking is hilarious!

Speaking of Daryn Kagen, she's had her fair share of embarrassing moments on the air

Youtube has lots of CNN mishaps!

This cracked me up...

And for the record - CNN has been making little mistakes left and right lately - but since they're fast losing any ounce of respect I had left I find it rather amusing :p

The same thing happened in Australia a few years back except the anchorwoman was not saying such glowing things about her husband.

Not forgetting the on-air "off-mike" incident where Australian cricket commentator Dean Jones referred to South African player Hashim Amla as "the terrorist" because of his Muslim background and traditional beard.

It can't be any worse than the crap MSNBC has been putting on lately or the crap Fox News has been putting on since its inception.

Faux News ratings are dropping steeply. I think I heard yesterday that they dropped by 17% last month.

It could have been worse, remember the scene from one of the Naked Gun movies where Leslie Nielson leaves his mic on in the bathroom?

Kyra Phillips was on Letterman last night with a Top Ten list...

CNN's Phillips mocks toilet talk on Letterman

NEW YORK (AP) -- CNN anchor Kyra Phillips, whose ladies room chatter found its way onto her newscast, bounced back two days later with a "Top 10 List" of excuses on the "Late Show with David Letterman."

The mishap had happened Tuesday when Phillips, still wearing her wireless microphone, visited the loo while CNN aired President Bush's speech from New Orleans. For a minute or so her voice commingled with his, as she was heard telling an unidentified woman how great her husband is, then mentioned that her sister-in-law is "a control freak." Only then was she alerted that her mike was live.

How could such a thing happen? A game but still embarrassed-looking Phillips set Letterman (and his CBS audience) straight -- or at least, left them laughing.

Top Ten Kyra Phillips Excuses Presented by CNN Anchor Kyra Phillips:

10. "Still haven't mastered complicated On/Off switch."

9. "Larry King told me he does this all the time."

8. "How was I supposed to know we had a reporter embedded in the bathroom?"

7. "I honestly never knew this sort of thing was frowned upon."

6. "Couldn't resist chance to win $10,000 on 'America's Funniest Home Videos."'

5. "I was set up by those bastards at Fox News."

4. "Oh, like YOU'VE never gone to the bathroom and had it broadcast on national television!"

3. "I just wanted that hunky Lou Dobbs to notice me."

2. "OK, so I was drunk and couldn't think straight."

1. "You have to admit, it made the speech a lot more interesting."

Lately I become enraged when he says the world "nucular." I almost had a mic moment - yesterday or the day before - he said "nucular" and I screamed "it's nuclear, numbnuts!!!" Then I looked down and my mic light was on - and I panicked....but it turns out our board was just being quirky (sometimes you turn the mic off - but the light stays on)....

Not as funny as CNN - but eh...it amuses me :p

 Holy crap! Mike Malloy calls him President Chucklenuts. I heard he was fired from Air America the other day. http://www.mikemalloy.com/ There is no real explanation why. However, there's a theory that it is because he had someone on who wrote a book about how 9/11 was an inside job. The guest went on about the conspiracy and Malloy didn't challenge him on anything.

 Chucklenuts - I LOVE it - I'm adopting that I think!

I've never listened to Air America - mostly because it's never been easily accesible to me - though I assume they stream?

Yeah, they stream from airamericaradio.com, and most of the hosts have their own sites that they also stream from.

Interesting that in this case the woman hasn't made a public apology to her sister-in-law.
Perhaps her sister in law somehow knew that was how she really felt about her. ;)

Hi Joe!
