Was Stevie ever at the VMA's? Was she ever nominated for one of her videos?

She was there in 87 with the band. And wasn't she there solo in 91 too. She was interviewed around Timespace backstage or something.

Don't think they've ever been nominated, but I could be wrong too.

Stevie was nominated in 86 I guess it was, for the "I Can't Wait" video. I'm not sure if it was for a technical award like editing or what, maybe Johnny Stew knows. But what was so lame about it was the fact that they showed a clip of the "Stand Back" video when it was mentioned.

The '87 appearance was when Stevie and Christine were presenters. Stevie wore that off-the-shoulder, low cut, black velvet dress w/ the gold leaves on the front. I always crack up when I see the clip of her opening the envelope and saying, "Talking Heads." I don't know, it's just cute.

That was the year they had the presenters sitting in the stands, in this case Stevie and Christine were opposite to the stage right? And they just stood up, backs to the stage or something, and moved over to the aisle and did there little annoucement stuff.

Is this the right show, or am I thinking of someting else?

you know what's sad? we're all here debating on what was nominated or what won what. her official site doesn't even have a list of all of her accomplishments (award-wise). they really, REALLY need to take the time to do that.

According to my OSOTM Chronology Poster:

Feb. 1982: EO17 is nominated for best rock vocal performance by a female. SDMHA is nominated for best rock vocal performance by a duo or group. (This was also when Bella Donna had completed a 6-month run in the top 10.)

Feb. 1984: Stand Back is nominated for best rock vocal performance by a female artist.

I don't remember if WLT was nominated, it wasn't a very big hit.

That was cute. I also remember an interview with the whole band and Christine was complaining about her uncomfortable her dress was. It was royal blue number with black boots.

It received an Honorable Mention award at the first VMAs which weren't even on MTV at the time. The top honors, i.e. Best Video, Best whatever, were only given to singles that made it into the top 5 (I think - maybe top 10).

I vaguely remember the telecast. Stevie and Christine made it very obvious that they were reading the teleprompter. Stevie throw out some quip about music videos, or something, and Christine was to reply to her. But Christine missed her cue, so it came across very staged. Poor Christine must have been thinking, get me back to my stacks of keyboards!

Or more like "get me back to my flask".
