What (if any) magazines, newspapers or periodicals do you read regularly and/or subscribe to?

I cut down a bunch - realized I just don't have the time to read that many. Plus, the cost (not to mention all the paper wasted to publish all of them) bothers me.

I get The Buffalo News every day (we're a 1 newspaper town, so I don't have much of a choice.) I subscribe to Taste of Home's Simple & Delicious (easy recipes - 6 issues a year) and Redbook (they had an offer - 12 issues for $9, couldn't pass it up.) Hubby gets FHM & Playboy. I read both, but I like FHM better - great little articles & funny features.

We get Time at work, so I read that occasionally. I love browsing through People and EW, but I refuse to pay that much for a weekly mag. Ridiculous. My parents love the Star & Enquirer, so if I'm there I look. :D

is the Daily Oklahoman (OKC newspaper).

Used to receive a free subscription to that crapfest of a magazine "Entertainment Weekly" (bka "Entertainment is Weakly" & makes a great catbox liner too!) but I called to have this piece-of-feces cancelled since I did not order it (Received it from some music online service)

I subscribe to Blender, Jane, Bust, Vanity Fair, and Interview. Also my knitting mags- Vogue Knitting and Interweave Knits.

I read the trashy rags every Saturday during my shift at Borders. In Touch, Star, People, US Weekly. I also read the Buffy, Angel, & Battlestar Galactica mags when they come out. And, uh, there's nothing wrong with that.

I don't subscribe to any magazines or newspapers.

BUT I do buy Glamour from time to time (it's a guilty pleasure). Also - each school year I do buy a 10week Entertainment Weekly sub. from my nephew's school fundraiser - but I never renew - and they always send it longer than 10 weeks :p

I used to enjoy People - but it's become very tabloid-y lately.

Newspapers - I get em all at work - Denver Post, Greeley Tribune, Ft. Collins Coloradoan and others....

I really like Vanity Fair. It has thoughtful articles. It is definitely liberal. Plus there is all the fashion and fun stuff too.

I subscribe to Ladies Home Journal (it was a 1 free year offer!), MORE magazine (for 40 somethings) and I used to subscribe to Redbook. For all around general usefulness, I really like Redbook. But the articles in MORE are geared more toward ladies my age. I also have a subscription to Simple and Delicious and its a great little recipe mag.

I've had a Rolling Stone Magazine subscription since the late 70's. And I carted them around every time I moved. Never really knew why I held on to them. Last year I pulled the ones I wanted to keep and started putting the rest up on Ebay. I've made close to $1,000.00. My last two 3 year subscriptions were basically free because a friend had a link to a site that offered a 3 year subscription for around $6.00 total.

Me: Guitar Player

My Wife: Vanity Fair, People, Time

I didn't include the plethora of retail catalogues that also come on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis. (like the IKEA catalogue & the Musician's Friend catalogues)

I have subscriptions to:
The New Yorker (mom has been giving this to me since I was 18)
Brain, Child
Performing Songwriter
Parenting (Mom gave it to me)

I often read, and have sometimes subscribed to:
Harpers
The Economist
The Nation

I get the Sierra club magazine, and Making Waves, so I guess those are subscriptions, but they come with the memberships.

I am supposedly going to be getting some free subscriptions to some audio engineering publications, and to Spin, but they haven't started coming yet.

I try to pass these mags around, because it fels so wasteful to recycle them, just after reading.

Vanity Fair and Allure are the ones I subscribe to. My yoga teacher sent me a year of Yoga Journal free. I also like Vogue, People US, The Enquirer and all those other trashy tabs.

My father's moving and he threw out 30 years worth of Playboys. They would've fetched a pretty penny, I still can't believe he did that!

I subscribe to Real Simple. Great magazine.

My mom gave me a subscription to Family Circle (she got a 2nd one for free), so I get that and I actually renewed it for a second year. They have some good recipes in there.

A friend at work subscribes to People and she brings it in for me to read when she is done! I love People.

I subscribe to Entertainment Weekly and that's about it. It's actually intelligently written in regards to actors, screenplays, directors and it really doesn't pay a lick of attention to Paris Hilton. Although when I have a flight to catch, or I have the flu, I unabashedly dive right into Star and Us.

I also like to pick up the odd graphic design or photographers magazine for the interesting concepts and pretty pictures.:p

I have been considering a subscription to Harp.
I'd recommend it. You should check out Paste, too, if you haven't already. They're the best music magazines, imo.

Rolling Stone is the only thing I pay for(a two year sub is SO cheap). I get a TON of free "industry" (audio production and the like) mags. Most of them are soooo boring though. I'll spend less than two minutes on them, then file them in the trash.

It looks like vanity fair is the frontrunner...

I get: Vanity Fair
Harper's
Atlantic
+ the local daily

Used to get/would still get if only:
New Yorker (if Canadian sub price dropped)
Christian Century (got too expensive, wah)
Chatelaine (got kind of boring)

Hate list:
Rolling Stone (too many shallow articles and outright mistakes for me, and politics is just warmed over Mother Jones or something, I'd get Vibe, I used to look at it if I was trying to find out if a new release was out from a favorite artist but the internet is much better for that)
Oprah's O Magazine (just because she is on every freaking cover, even Martha Stewart didn't do that).
Guns & Ammo (what is to read about? you aim, pull trigger and stick go boom. this is guns as fashion/collectible. for some reason I see loads of these in thrift shops)

I only get Yoga Journal, I really like it. It's like, 15 dollars for a year subscription, but if you buy them singly in the store (I always want to) they're 4 or 5 dollars each! I think I read them in the same vein as others read fashion mags - like "ooo, I want to go to that retreat!" or "ooo, I want my yoga practice to be like that!" :p I wouldn't mind getting Discover magazine, or some other sciency mag. I like science articles, I like to know the newest research and discoveries.

For this month, the cover article teasers are:

1. "Be happier than you ever thought possible!"
2. "Love the life you've got"
3. "Befriend your breath and focus your energy"
4. "Laugh more, live longer"
5. "Take charge of your emotions"

Plus!
Iyengar yoga for everyone
Help for hyperactivity
Yoga for insomnia
Free pullout yoga poster, 10 best poses to unwind your mind.

A long, long, long time ago I used to get Premier, and Entertainment Weekly. Oh, and Jane. I'm not as obsessed with actors and actresses anymore, and Jane got way too lame.

I'll still read most magazines when I see them around. I was at the haircutters a few weeks back, and a girl comes out with a huge pile of mags that they were throwing away. I was like "whoa, slow your roll! I'll take some of those". My point? Free magazines are awesome, I love them.

I don't like the magazines that weigh forty pounds, have pages and pages of fashions/advertisements of things that I could never wear anywhere, never afford, and would never be flattering on me or as far as I can tell anyone else (Vogue? Vanity Fair?). They do have some good articles, but the rest is mostly useless to me, and slightly irritating, so I pretty much totally eschew those. Unless, of course, they are free. :D

I don't really have spare money, so I buy books because they last so much longer and are nearly the same price. I freak out if I don't have something to read, so books are the way to go.

Plus, I have to save my spare money to buy lip gloss. Somehow, there is always a new one I see and want to try. I just found this really fine gold dust sparkly/clear one. It has good longevity, too. It's a bit thicker than average, but not too sticky. Gorgeous, beautiful. I don't know why lip gloss is so magical to me, but it always has been. My lips aren't even very dry - Although it is important to wear sunscreen on your lips regardless of dryness. Oh, in case someone else loves lip gloss, it is Milani brand, "glossy tubes" - 03 Golden Splash. They have different colors.
I got it at Walgreens, it was 4.99. Kinda steep, but I had been looking for one with exactly these golden clear properties. And I was not disappointed. It's kinda bad, though, because the week before I totally found this other perfect one, goldish shimmer/clear/hint of mauve. So it is clearish sparlyish mauvish. I usually don't buy that many in such a short period of time.
www.milanicosmetics.com.:wavey:

Oh, and I often read, but rarely buy, the San Francisco Chronicle.

So, my parents used to get this magazine when I was little, it was like...dirty, yet funny, yet political - called National Lampoon. Does anyone remember that one? It was good.
