View Full Version : Have you seen the awesome bug vacuum?

I hate bugs. I'm scared of bugs. Not all bugs, mainly wasps and bees and hornets. But bugs are still creepy. But I don't like to hurt bugs. So, then I saw this: The bug vacuum, from Sharper Image. P.S., if you haven't perused Sharper Image merchandise, I recommend it.
I'm not really into the "view the bug magnified" feature, in fact it horrifies me, but still. Only 14.95! Sooo worth it. Because, if there is a bug around me (wasp, etc.) I totally panic. I have to run, and scream. And if I have to try to get it out of my house, it's very hard for me to remain calm. But then, if I spray it with poison, it makes me sad to watch it twitch and die, that isn't fair.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y12/antisnark/su003_pip.jpg

"It looks like a ray gun but Bug Vacuum is actually a thoughtfully designed ecological device that, without harm, sucks up unwanted spiders and other stray bugs in the house. Press the trigger to gently draw any bug inside. Once it's secured inside the Bug Habitat, the built-in magnifier provides a close-up look for anyone who wants one — great for budding naturalists! Then release the critter outside where it can benefit from a more natural habitat than your home.

Bug Vacuum adapts for different sizes of bugs and offers three levels of suction power. It contains two suction nozzles and two see-through chambers. Runs on 4 AA batteries (included). Measures 11 1/2" x 5 1/2" and weighs 1 lb. 90-day warranty."

I think it's very amazing, considering you just said you were scared of bugs, screamed like a girl, and I'm terrified of them, too, and run and scream like a girl.
This is the best invention I've heard of this decade. I thought I had never seen anything more perfect in my life. Whoever thought of that is a raging genius. Absolutely brilliant.

I'm afraid of bugs- but I"m not spending my hard earned money on some stupid reverse blowdryer. I've not been killed by a widdle bug yet - so even being afraid of them I've done pretty well without stupid inventions.

This guy/gal? IS a genious because he took people's irrational fears and figured out how to make money off them....that is brilliant - the product, however is pretty damn ridiculous. AND it looks like one of those gimmick items that will work all of two times. Genious.

Boy, you could never work on a farm  One of my jobs on the horse farm I work at is taking a broom and knocking down all the big spider webs hanging from the ceiling in the horses stalls and down the aisle. The spiders fall on top of my head, in my eyes and down my shirt and I've never given it a second thought

One of many reasons I could never work on a farm.

Actually, I just couldn't do that specific job on a farm, technically. Although I know nothing else about farms, either.

I'm not that scared of spiders. But I don't like them to fall on my face in bulk.

Well, I would spend 14.95 on it. Fear of bugs isn't necessarily irrational.
It's better than stomping or spraying them. I've certainly spent 14.95 on less useful things. I know several people who would want one. And it's from sharper image, so it will probably work more than two times.
I think it's irrational to pay Weight Watchers to help you lose weight because you can't figure out how to eat and exercise by yourself, but hey, to each their own. At least the bug thing is only 14.95.

 Wow.. well sorry to make fun of your ridiculous bug catcher

And I guess I forgot about the "you can't have an opinion in Amberland" rule....oops.

And let me get this straight - your form of "attack" is to take things people have confided and talked about in the past - then you use those things against them. Got it.

Just so you know that's pretty much the lowest form of attack - and really it's sad that you can't think of anything better but to use what people have said in the past against them. Low.

Don't worry I won't "Cry about it" Also - I don't really feel like getting into it with you - since you're always right and all - amazing, really..I guess you should be my hero...but instead I have to laugh at your insistance at always being right - must be a nice world you live in.

What are you talking about? Who's confided? Who am I attacking? Is it wrong to argue with your opinion? I didn't say you couldn't have one, I just disagreed with yours, and expressed something that I think is really lame.
Or is this..."I forgot no one is allowed to disagree with Deanna or else she'll whine about it and say she's being attacked" land?
I don't get it.
I like how because I had an opinion that disagreed with yours about the bug catcher, you accused me of being "always right". I'll be sure and use that one on anyone who thinks differently than me. It's a great comeback. "What? you don't like Love is Like a River?! You always think you're right!!! "

Uuu...no - you "attacked" and I used that for lack of a better word by using the fact that I'm joining Weight Watchers against me. That? was rude and unnecesarry and you totally used it because you thought you'd get me where it hurts - you will deny it and say I'm crying because you disagreed - but it's the WAY you disagree....

It's fine to disagree and have differing opinions - and I don't "cry" when someone disagrees with me - in fact I enjoy a lot of pleasant discourse with Ledgies.

The difference?

they don't call me moronic or any other names...they don't bring up things I've said in the past to use against me etc....usually we stick to the topic at hand and are able to discuss - yet no one can do that with you or they're illogical, moronic or unwiling to "learn"

I love how you purpously use something personal against me - then say I'm "crying about it" - then claim you didn't do anything but disagree....whatever babes, lots of people disagree with me and I with them...but luckily not everyone is as big a jerk about it as others.

edit:

I'm so done - I will not reply to whatever you're sure to say against this -

As MANY on here know - arguining with you about anything is pretty pointless. That's all. Done.

I didn't use anything against you, I just said weightwatchers was lame. How is weight watcher's your personal thing? Many people on here have done it.
You say you don't mind differing opinions, but clearly you do. And so what if I think weight watchers is lame, and you're doing it? Not everything is about you. And you say it's futile to argue with me - yeah, if you're going to be all sensitive about a different opinion (which you usually are - illustrated here by me arguing with you, and you immediately accusing me of attacking you.  Actually, it's pretty funny), instead of actually thinking of a good answer, it will be futile. Because you'll be cowering in your "i've been attacked" corner, instead of arguing back.

Frank - grow a pair!

I'm glad you are done, though - I totally laugh too hard whenever you talk to me.

Ooh so I AM funny..happy day!

Crap. I lied...not done.

what gets me is your complete refusal to take responsibility for takinga swipe at me. It's fine - you'd be a much more respectable person if you admited that by the WW comment you were talking to and about me.

Or did you just randomly think of WW and random people who may do it as irrational? No. You remembered that I said I was joining and said that it's irrational...hence a swipe at me.

I mention that milk can be healthful and all of a sudden there's a "anyone who says milk is healthy is a moron" - hmm....it's all fishy to me.

And please...find other discussions/arguments where I "cower" under the guise of being attacked - because generally I enjoy a good discussion and argument - you just don't offer them - you always make it personal by name-calling and insisting you're right and others are stupid. It's hard to function in a world where Amber is the only one who thinks logically. Please.

Oh - and there have been plenty of times where even you and I have differed and I do not "cower" because you haven't "attacked" or gotten personal. A recent discussion on population growth and my "sterilize everyone" theory comes to mind...

Either way I'm sick of this and I'm sick of you - and you'll be happy number 2 on my ignore list - I should have done it long ago...because nothing you say interests me (I guess we do have something in common since you find me so ridiculous).

Yes, Amber grow a pair and admit that by the rude comments you make you are trying to bait and "attack" people.

Again - I don't mind differing opinions - I only mind them when they're accompanied with "and if you think the way you do you're stupid or moronic or irrational." Why is this difficult to understand?

So if it was a simple, "well I think the bug trap is a good idea and bug fear isn't irrational..." then ok - that would have begotten an actual discussion - BUT you added a stitch that included a clear personal reference and THAT'S what gets me.

I do not "cry that I'm being attacked" and cower under that every time someone has a differing opinion - if that's what you think, then fine- you obviously don't pay attention...

If you find me so ridiculous then perhaps you should put ME on your ignore list...

Anyway - Ledge rules state that personal fueds aren't tolerated so I AM done now. If you have any further problems feel free to PM me, otherwise that's it...I'm done with you. Really.

EDIT:

To other LEdgies who have had to slog through this stupidity I apologize. I hope you all generally find I am easy to discuss things with and don't automatically "cower" at the first sign of a differing opinion..I really don't see that I do that but perhaps some do

Hmmmmmm I seem to recall a certain Ambyss getting ALL pushed out of shape because Paula differed with her regarding the (imaginary) evils of Milk. How quickly you forget Ambyss.

oh and Sharper Image? overpriced Yuppie trinkets for people who have no touch with what regular folks need.......I mean really, why use a "bug vaccuum" when a simple empty jelly jar will do the same thing? Good grief!
