why do I feel like my contacts are eating my eyeballs? I mean, seriously, I feel like they are drinking every bit of moisture to be found. not really painful, just uncomfortable...I have this heinous vein from the corner of my eye to my pupil. it looks HORRID. these are supposed to be better contacts and allow more air to circulate and all that. I'm wearing the Acuvue O2 or something like that.
sheesh.

I wear the same brand. I haven't found them to be any more comfortable. I use wetting drops several times per day and find that to be helpful.

You may consider having your doc evert (look under) your upper lids. Repeateed exposure to lens edge and proteins can cause bumps that make contacts uncomfy. And consider changing brands. I don't prescribe much acuvue products after seeing lots of problems. I prescribe more purevision and proclear. ask your doc.

are you an optometrist? hello. do you make housecalls? :D I think a lot of it is probably protein buildup. should I wait a couple days and try a new pair to see if that helps?
thanks for the tips. I will ask him.

When I tried contacts the optometrist said that I probably would find them uncomfortable because I dont blink as much as most... I thought he was being funny... but he was right... (I dont think it helped that I am a smoker either! that song "smoke gets in your eyes" was very apt..)
I am a glasses girl now... although tempted to try again.... Im going to try and save up eventually to have laser treatment. that sounds great!!!

I refuse to waer contacts. I tried them once, and they just werent comfortable. Glasses all the way here. I looked into the Laser thing at one time, but they told me that my eyesight without glasses was so bad it probabloy wouldnt work. Oh well, at least I can still see.

My SIL was telling me this past weekend how bad the ragweed count has been this summer. Here in NJ my contacts have not been too bad but at my inlaws in PA I was *dying*, my eyes were just driving me nuts. I also think i may be ready to put in a new pair-- i buy the 1-2 week ones and then wear them for like 3 mos LOL. not good.

I have dry eyes and I've been wearing ProClear Compatibles for two years now without problems. Somedays they feel a little dry, but it's not a horrible feeling. I'm able to wear mine for up to 16 hours without wanting to scratch my eyeballs out.

Yes I am. Also if you are a heavy depositor of protein, they make something called focus dailies with aqua release. New CL every day. A little more pricey, but if that is what you need, well worth it.

I agree proclear is very good. I fit my aunt into that lens, and she can not wear anything else.

ahhh...now the lyric in your sig makes more sense!
thanks so much for the tips.
is there any way to see if I am a "heavy depositor" of protein?
(damn...that sound dirrty!)

Looking at the contacts on your eyes at the end of a day or weeks wear; looking under the upper lids to examine for papillae (bumps).
Honestly, never thought of my sig lyrics that way! That must be why I picked that!
