Not sure if anyone over there has picked up on this, but the British Deputy Prime Minister, John Prescott, reckons Bush's handling of the Middle East Crisis is "crap", and said as much to a group of Labour MPs at a private meeting yesterday. One of the MPs decided it would be a fine idea to tell the press, so good for him.

Prescott has been an embarrassment to the government for quite a while now, with a string of mistakes and inappropriate activity over the past few years. He physically attacked someone during the 2001 election campaign after an egg was thrown at him, he's been implicated several times in dodgy financial situations, he's had affairs, committed speeding offences - you name it, he's done it. He was stripped of nearly all his duties a while ago, but no-one wants to get rid of him completely, perhaps because he could spark off a leadership contest that would see the end of Blair. So now he just staggers about making himself look even more stupid than we thought he was.

But he's the source of endless fun for the rest of us, so long may his intellectually-challenged, northern peasant style of "politics" keep us amused till someone finally gets rid of all of them in one go.

The only one of those things that seems really bad is the dodgy financial whatevers. Everything else...
But even if he is some kind of idiot, he's right about Bush.

I think it's the sheer number of embarrassing situations he's caused rather than the situations themselves - he seems to make an idiot of himself more often that all other British politicians put together, with the possible exception of George Galloway. And of course, we're not as used to our politicians being sleazy, corrupt and violent as you guys are ;)

Anyway lots of people have said that this is the most intelligent thing he's said in his entire career

Has Bush not said anything about it?

I dunno, I stopped hanging out with Bush years ago. He doesn't call me to chat anymore.

By doesn't, you mean can't right? He looks like the poster child for illiteracy as it is, so I wouldn't be surprised.

As for this topic, it makes me happy to hear foreign public officials finally coming to terms with what 48% of Americans knew all along.
