starshine over at seven wonders posted the instrumentals to the rumours tracks, and i really can't resist something like that ... so i recorded some vocals over the instrumentals for "silver springs." don't judge it on artistic merit, since i stayed v. close to the original. let me know what you think, but remember that i'm just playin' around here ...

Carrie, I am listening to this now & really enjoying this. You have excellent tonality, so much so, in fact, that you should experiment with multitracking your vocals using some Fleetwood Mac harmonies.
Nice job, Carrie! Do some more!

Ugh, what is this tripe? I kid. :p We must duet, girl. Hey, remember we were going to do TAT? If I can get some Cyndi instrumentals, or remove the vocals with new editing software that doesn't suck, we should get together on some Cyn songs.

How fun! It sounds really good Carrie!
What did program did you use to record? I can't wait to hear more.
I was so excited to go get the instrumentals, but YouSendIt reached its limit, so I hope they get reposted.

Thanks, guys! I'm always a little leary to put myself out there, so I'm very pleased to get such a positive response.
David - I actually already have, quite a while back, with the harmonies from the chorus of Silver Springs. I was doing it a capella, so by the end, I was in B major instead of C. I'm definitely going to do more now that I have these instrumentals.
GDSB: uh, yes. We should totally do TAT.
Eliza: I use a mac program called GarageBand. It's a great app, esp. considering it came free with my computer. Very user-friendly and has some nice features.
Jazzy: biyotch. Thanks. :blob1:
Thanks again, everyone. :)

Awesome—thanks! I am going to have fun with those!
I use Garage Band too, and it is really good for just adding a vocal track. I use it sometimes to try out harmonies for new songs. it would be easy to send a song around to singers on the ledge, and have each add a part. Fun!:]

alright, I can't sing until tomorrow mid-morning, cuz the house is asleep right now, but I am supposed to be recording some sentences for work in the morning, and why not add in some singing? If several beat me to harmonies on this song (in a mad late night singing rush) we can do another.
p.s. I put "Crazy On You" in Garage Band and had a grand time last weekend. Try that one, it is even more fun than singing with it in the car.

I probably can't sing until tomorrow, too, since I don't like to record while other people are home.
Heeeee, I'll have to try Crazy On You, although I can't imagine anything better than singing that in the car.

Ok, we can figure out who takes the melody tomorrow, unless you know you want it now. Oooh, I just realized how dorky I will feel singing Baowbaowbaowbaowbuhbaow
I don't like to sing at all while anyone is home, either, and time alone here is rare. I am about to start renting a room at the church around the corner. They don't seem to mind that I am not a parishioner.

It makes my head buzz, and it cannot be sung with a still body, IMO.

Carrie, i just listened to this - you sound great! So precise. I love it. Amazing.
Seriously. I tried to sing with it (although half in the bag, admittedly) and it didn't sound half as good.
Also I dl'd the rumours tracks, which is chips, thank you!
I just thought of putting this here b/c of your sig. Also b/c it's pretty good for me, I don't sing that well, but this kicks. I messed up on that one slide (the I5 slide), but overall it's guac. The song is so beautiful.

thanks!
amber, your singalongs are so guac and chips. i love them. i've actually never heard this song before ... i'm an emmylou n00b, so, y'know. but this is cool! i wish i could hear your voice more, though, because it gets lost w/emmylou's at times.
