'No drums, very little bass' on Buckingham's new CD

Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham is about to unveil his first solo CD since 1992's Out of the Cradle. He describes the stripped-down arrangements on Under the Skin, due Oct. 3, as "kind of a reduction. There are basically no drums, very little bass. On a musical level, I've been trying to distill things."

Skin also reflects a sense of contentment, he says, that owes much to his wife, Kristen, and their three children. "This is the best time in my life, and that's a great thing to be able to say when you're 56, and didn't become a father till you were 48."

He plans a "more rocking" companion CD in 2007, after a U.S. tour. "It's a turnaround, time-frame-wise, for someone who's been sort of the Terrence Malick of rock," referring to the reclusive director.

A more "rockin album" for 2007. Wow, Lindsey is really surprising me, this is a great move for him. BTW, great to be back on The Ledge - Justin

This is just a note to say, what you are hearing is true.

The fact is Lindsey will have two albums released almost back to back.
the first is an acoustic which he will be touring and the second is an electric album which he will also be touring. I'm not saying who my source was for this information but its 100% spot on.

This is a snippet of the message i recieved

"It will definitely be a great album. Also, he has completed an Electric album and it will release quite quickly with a tour following this one."

well.... there was going to be a FM tour in 2007. Lindsey releasing 2 albums, do 3 tours (2 solo, 1 mac) in one year???

Sorry dude, I really trust your post. But this dutch dude can't handle the thought.

Hey Dutchman,

I understand what yer saying, But believe me if you knew who told me this you'd be content. I am certainly not one to start spreading rumours. And I have known this information for some time but i had said i'd keep it on the QT until the word was out. Believe me i was just busting to say something.

Like I said, Paul, I trust your info completely. It's hard to handle after 14 years. Do you know if there's a slight chance of europe? And 2007 is a long year, do you know when CD2 is planned?

Really great news!

I would imagine that if The Mac is going to tour in '07 that they will probably be playing some of the second cd's more electric stuff. I keep thinking about the Rockline interview with Mick in '04 where he said that future tours could include both Lindsey and Stevie's solo stuff.

Bring it on, we are so ready for this!

to be honest with you, a Lindsey tour or two on the heels of a Tom Petty/Stevie Nicks summer tour is far more interesting then a future Fleetwood Mac tour. i don't have much interest in seeing FM unless they really shake things up and put out a record with a totally new sound and come up with a changing set list. i can't deal with The Chain into Dreams...Rhiannon...yadda yadda yadda.
Thank God Lindsey is keeping this music interesting!

I wish I knew Man, I wish i knew. Wouldnt be building up to many european tour hopes unless its with the Mac in 2007. Thats my opinion. Apart from us few ledgies i dont think lindsey could fill a bus shelter here in Ireland. Just Feck all people know of him outside the mac, and thats really dissappointing.

A nice mention on Stereogum, an indie rock blog, including MP3 uploads of a few tracks. Nice comments, too. It's always nice to see Lindsey get some praise and to see people other than us excited about this record.

Well to be honest now, i never really revealed anything new. People had started to speculate about two cd's. I pretty much just confirmed there are two back to back CD's with two tours.
I dont think my source really would mind that I said it now that everyone kinda knows now anyway.

Hayley, thanks for posting that. That bit about Peter Buck is still quite apt after all these years.

Senator Ted Stevens (R, AK) told me that Lindsey's new album wasn't a silver plate you could just dump some music on.

It's a series of cycles, and when there's too many cycles, you need at least three silver plates to fit them all on.

Screw Fleetwood Mac, Lindsey has always been held back by them, he needs to do what the hell he wants. No FM in 2007, just LB.

"Dutchman" sounds a little rude to me Paul. I'm sure it was unintentional however.

Yeah. Rick Turner told you right? No big deal. Its not government intelligence stuff. Its not a secret.
