Fantastic! :D

Where did that come from??

Sounds a similar production to Love Minus Zero/No Limit.

Lindsey should really release more stuff rather than sitting on it!!

Many Thanks for that LukeA. What a great cover by Lindsay and such a pity that the Joni tribute album never got released. The clip that you released back in 2000(?) was so so tantallizing and I along with lots of others always wondered what the full version was like. Now we know.
Many Many thanks once again.

So what was the big deal about keeping this song all under wraps for so long. It was very okay.

Its weird of Lindsey to keep it so close to the original format.

But its more than great to get a new song, Its his own fault if they end up getting leaked cos it seems like he was never going to release it. However it's a timely leak given the fact he is releasing an album in october. Maybe this is one of the tracks.

I like the Middle Solo

Many Thanks for posting, but im not sold on it just yet.

Really, really good. Love the acoustic guitars all over it and the ending is very powerful. See, it goes to show that he can still do his own take on someone else's song without changing it completely.

Here, if anywhere, the usual phrase "thanks for sharing" is in order.

Thank you very much for posting this! After years of no new music after OOTC (until GOS leaked), it is refreshing to get songs like this. I don't understand why LB's music has to be "leaked" to get to his fans. Oh well, I am just grateful. This is a masterful version of a classic.

BTW, a European Joni Mitchell tribute album was released in 2000, but it does not contain LB's version of "Big Yellow Taxi." The cover popped up when I played LB's version on Windows Media Player, but when I checked it out on Amazon, some other unknown artist's version (female) is on that version.

Acoustic enough for an acoustic solo-album? Maybe that's the first leak from Under the skin? LOVE the drums! And the overal sound! Except for the oohlalala's. The ending is soooooo lindsey. gorgeous, thanks LukeA!!!!!!

Yes Luke, If there's anything else you're missing, let me know.

Fantastic track! You can hear how much work (painting  ) Lindsey's put into this only for it to sit around gathering dust for 6 or more years. Same goes for the screws stuff. Why does he do that!?

I reckon he should have released the gift of screws material as a solo album. It flows so much better. I also preferred the solo version of Peacekeeper.

I guess leaking the track so soon to an album release means that BYT won't be on it!?

I'm confident that shut us down will be on it though. Top track! :)

The release of this track has nothing to do with the new album. This cover was recorded six years ago, and is being leaked now only because there is no longer any danger in possibly exposing where it originally came from- the source is no longer in the position they were.

Thanks for sharing, Luke.

Yes I know, ChiliD, you're on the safe side of worldcommunity. I UNDERSTAND that most people like covers close to the original, and this one is very well succeeded. I agree. But I rather hear reinterpretations. To put it straight: this BYT already existed: so what's the point of covering it?
The other cover-which I will not mention-was alot more musically interesting, daring and personal. Altough I must admit that this BYT has Lindsey written all over it.

PS: And now I want to read a post from your hand that really celebrates Lindsey's qualities on this track.

Thanks for sharing. That are interesting days on this board- the new album news and the new-old cover song.
Regarding BYT I can`t share the enthusiasm. It's an O.K. song for me. I like it but it doesn`t blow me away. The same thing as with Love minus zero. I would call both versions nice. I really hope it has nothing to do with Under the Skin. My expectations concerning his own material are much higher.
I`d like a new album with a cohesive sound coming from a lot of completely new written songs. Fresh music. Get rid of the GOS material- it`s over. Or release it as a whole including Peacekeeper solo on a second CD. But I doubt that there will be 2 CD`s.

Thanks so much for sharing this with us! I'm not familiar with Joni's version, but am with Amy Grant's cover. Not a huge fan of the song, but I do like this. I'm hungry for anything Lindsey. I do like the guitar solo and the ending.

When I first heard it, I went "Hey, is this Bwana?" LOL!!!

Totally Lindsey. :)

She did a cover on her album, House of Love.

What's wrong with Amy? I love her. Grew up with her music. One of my fave female singer/songwriters. :)

There was a cover of that song maybe 4 years ago- there were two versions. It was a male group on the one version all alone on the other version with a female singer on the chorus. Who was that? Don`t remember the names.
I did like that one and I must admit that I did like it more than the LB version. But it`s nice to have that version too, of course.

Probably the Counting Crows.
Yes that somehow sounds familiar. Who was the guest on the chorus then? What did you think of that version?
Editing my own post: I went to google country: Vanessa Carlton was the girl.

Those simulated nature sounds, I immediately thought of something like Welcome To The Pleasuredome or Close To The Edge. Wonder if it's the old Fairlight at work?

Amazing. I thought we'd never get to hear the whole thing.
Much better than the other cover versions I've heard of this song.
The Counting Crows and Amy Grant versions were both dismal.

I always have liked Bob Dylan's version on his Dylan album that came out in 1973 (or '74, can't recall exactly).

But, of all the versions I've heard, I have to admit, Lindsey's is the tops, for now.

And, once again...thanks Luke & Hayley! :wavey: (and, I should also send out thanks to the person who changed jobs so we could finally hear it! )

About three or four posts above you somebody has, and I just used it.

I agree about the ooo la las.
It's okay. Pretty good. It sounds so "the usual Lindsey" that it's almost cliched to my ears. And he's using that soft fuzzy voice.

Yea, I know I've been pretty quiet for a while, but I've been around. I had to say something when such a great track like "Big Yellow Taxi" gets released. How long has that 30-second snippet been around? Feels like 4 or so years. It's wonderful to finally hear it. I listened to it with earphones last night at the gym--there's a lot of stuff going on in the instrumentation. After playing that song, Lindsey might appropriately quote John Lennon: "I got blisters on my fingers!"

Thanks

John :o

Only problem is that it was Ringo who shouted that at the end of "Helter Skelter".

To most Beatle fans, it's common knowledge...second paragraph, in both articles:

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - October 22, 2005 (http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=364752)

Helter Skelter - from Everything2.com (http://everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=112481)

I always thought it was paul singing she loves you during All You Need IS Love until I read that it was john. they could sound very alike.
