Please PLEASE get your daily recommended amount of omega-3 essential fats! Eat plenty of wild salmon!

I have a big bottle of Omega 3 pills, but eating fish is more delicious. Omega-3 fatty acids stay liquid at colder temperatures, so the fish that swim in colder waters have more of it.
These are the best fish for that purpose:
salmon, albacore tuna, mackerel, lake trout, Atlantic halibut, sardines, herring.

Conversely, if you are worried about our fish population, and you should be - both at the low quantities left and the high level of pollution contained theirin - or if you are a vegetarian - you can get flax oil suppliments and/or eat flax oil or flaxseeds for Omega 3. Also walnuts and some other nuts.
I'd like to take this opportunity to recommend a book, or series of books, by Dr. Mark Hyman. I bring this up because of course he touts and explains the great need for Omega 3's.
A large point in his books is that high fructose corn syrup is basically poison, it is contained in most foods we buy, we shouldn't eat it, and its widespread introduction to our food (roughly 25 years ago) directly correlates with the precipitous rise in obesity in this country.
High.Fructose.Corn.Syrup = Devilobesitypoison.
:wavey:
You can find the science for this, and more details, online (or of course in the books).
BTW, y'all, for this week's groceries I eschewed more fruit for less but organic fruit (It wasn't easy, Safeway had whole watermelons for 3 dollars! But I did it).
I have never, ever tasted more delicious strawberries. Ever. It was so worth it. And I eat my strawberries and other fruits plain (ie, no sugar) so I really notice the flavor. So, not only did I help the environment, but I had super delectable strawberry snack as well. Savorlicious.

I have been taking 2 tablespoons of Flax Seed oil (Omega 3) every day for about 2 years now - I can't tell you how good it is for your skin.......

True! Add 2 tablespoons of coconut oil per day to that, and people might actually start mistaking you for an infant, swear!
I was looking at my skin last night, and it does look so much better than seven months ago. It's much smoother, and also the oil is better regulated = less breakouts. I notice especially because I have bad skin. I've always done Omega suppliments, but adding coconut and the microdermabrasion and quit smoking, the change is dramatic. IMO.

Really!? I will have to give coconut oil a try
I too have always had bad skin - I was covered in acne since I was about 13 or 14, and I went on accutane about a year and a half ago now, and have never looked back - I started taking flax seed oil about 6 months before I started accutane on the advice of one of my skin specialists, and I would never even consider stopping now - combine that with drinking a minimum of 2 litres of water per day for the past 2 years, I have never felt more healthy, and my skin is so radiant, and I rarely have a break out anymore :)

That is awesome! Smart skin specialist. Yeah, add the coconut oil if you can affordy. It's also good topically - but I buy a different kind for on my skin, I don't use the cooking oil.
And fruit acid peels and microdermabrasion are kick ass for the exfoliating.

I don't do much exfoliating yet - my skin is still too fragile from the accutane treatment - even though it was about 8 - 9 months ago, I still don't feel comfortable using it. I will buy some of the coconut oil, but do you think four tablespoons of oil per day is an overload??
You know what is great as a face mask? Uncoated Panadol! It is so great, just crush up about 2 or three and add a few frops of water and apply to your face - it dries, and then you can leave it on for 10 - 30 minutes, and then wash it off. It removes all the oils from your skin, and leaves it so smooth - definately reccommended

No, it's not. Unless you have some kind of really bad weight problem. But even then, it should be okay, because like Omega 3, coconut oil helps you process other fat, and has other health benefits as well.

I don't even know what panadol is, I'll be darned. What is it? I don't usually use things that remove oils at this time of my life. But that could be just fine for someone your age. I have this great blueberry antioxident mask from Myshell that I use - but what is Panadol?
Just a little story - I took accutane 2.5 cycles. Ie, 2.5 times. For five months each.
But - the reason my skin broke out after the first round of accutane was because my pores were clogged, because the derm didn't have any exfoliation for me! Finally, a new derm was like "you're breaking out because you need exfoliation!" and he was right. And he ordered me some exfoliating skin peels. And everything was okayish after that.
Not saying you should have it yet, but you should have it. Just wear sunscreen after. The thing about exfoliation is, it just cleans your pores really well, and causes new skin to grow. There are no adverse side effects except sun sensitivity for a few days, which is easily remedied by sunscreen. I'm not saying you have to do this if your skin is fine, I'm just saying you should at least do it sometime. The fallout for me of not exfoliating at the time was ending up with way bigger pores than I would have. Just so you know. But it can benefit everyone, because it promotes new skin growth.
Nowthen, Panadol?

Oh sorry, me and my New Zealand lingo
I don't know what Americans call Panadol, but other names that I know of are asprin, panadene etc. They are the pills you take for headaches......
I don't need to exfoliate - my skin is still recovering from the accutane - which you are not supposed to exfoliate while on the drug or 6 months after, but I do it on occasion when I feel the skin on my nose getting thicker, but the rest of my face is still too fragile to start exfoliating again.....

Well - is it aspirin or ibuprofen or acetominaphen?
Sounds like you are right in line with your exfoliation. I say, save up six months or so, then see a professional for fruit acid peel or micro - D. You have great skin care people, it sounds like. I'm kinda jeal.

Don't use the tylenol as a face mask every day, use it only 3 - 4 times a week, and use a good oil free moisturisor afterwards....
If I were you, I would drink nothing but water, and a minimum of two litres per day. I would even stop drinking milk! Drink soy milk instead.
Remember with the flax seed oil (and the coconut oil) that you will not see improvements overnight. I have been using the oil every day for about 2 years, and things are only just starting to look good - so its a long road, but if you stick on it, you will notice the difference.
Good Luck :D

My boyfriend makes me take oil supplements three times a day- we take the one that has borage, flaxseed, AND fish oil all in the same pill.
He also makes me take my vitamins. I just can't take anything with too much niacin because it makes me CRAZY. I mean, crazy. He didn't believe me so he made me take a niacin supplement a few months ago and I was up all night bouncing up and down on the bed and rubbing my knees and babbling. Don't know why I felt compelled to share.

Probably to help those of us who have been looking for a vitamin that makes us stay up all night bouncing and rubbing and babbling. It's like natural meth.

When I was a teenager, I had a really bad sports injury and pinched a nerve in my shoulder blade. The pain was horrific. One of the things the doctors had me do to quicken the healing was take potassium and niacin supplements. I have no clue why, I don't remember- but the first night I took them, I went NUTS. So we did potassium one night, niacin the next to see what was giving me that reaction, and it was the niacin.
It's awful. It's not fun. Aside from the crazy, it was just physically uncomfortable. I got the worst heat flashes. Ugghhhh.

Thanks for the tips! I have stopped drinking milk as it gives me stomach problems. I tried soy milk and don't like it at all. My grandmother gave me some chocolate soy milk one time and I liked that. Perhaps I need to get her brand or something.
