ok, so I thought I'd make a new thread since there are lots of folks going and it looks like i MAY be back on board to go (have to wait to see how much birthday money I get). Stevie isn't confirmed yet is she? who all is going? where are you staying? yadda yadda yadda...I have no idea where Berkeley is, where I'll fly into or where's a good place to stay. what's on the agenda as far as meeting up?
Miss Vicky

I'm going to try to go. Both shows are sold out at this point, so the only way to get tix is to go through a third party. I want to hit the Saturday show but am having a helluva time getting tickets so I may have to do Friday instead.
No idea as to whether or not Stevie is confirmed, but as you probably have guessed, I'm not looking forward to her anyway.

Jazmen, if you decide to stay in a hotel in San Francisco, I can help give various options/recommendations.
It doesn't really matter if you fly into Oakland or San Francisco. They are both accessible by public transportation. Southwest and JetBlue both fly exclusively into Oakland.
Miss Vicky

Okay, it's confirmed. I'm doing Friday night. I just bought the tix on Ebay. They're not great, but they're not bad either.
Doubt I'll be participating in any after-show Ledgie activities, however. I have the sneaking suspicion that I would be persona-non-grata in a group of Stevie fans. I also suspect that whatever friend I manage to convince to go with me would not be thrilled at the idea of hanging out with a bunch of crazy chiffonheads.

speaking of tickets, since I'll most likely have to sit by myself anyway, how bad are lawn seats? I mean,I'msure most of y'all that are going have gotten your tickets by someone you know and since I don't have that luxury I might as well just get a ticket to get in,right?

Here's the pic again. This pic was taken from the "lawn" seats. Usually tickets open up right before the show, and I keep finding them on Craigslist and ebay. The lawn ones are cheap. Also, Paula and her friend may be on the lawn Friday night, so... I'm excited too, that will be so awesome if you can come. If you get in too late to go to the show Friday, for some reason, you must meet us after to go out. Do not, I repeat DO NOT look prettier than me.

What does BFE mean?
And I'm just assuming Jazmen might stay in SF and from that perspective, there's no real difference in airports. If he's staying in East Bay, then definitely Oakland is easier. Although with BART from SFO, it's really

That's my favorite part. But, that's always my favorite part. Sadly, it will probably be a bit chilly that night (if not that day) so I won't be able to rock a tank top like I like to do, or a tank sheath dress. I've my eye on some things, though. I mean, they'll just be regular clothes, but will be really cute and flattering and look good on me.

Just don't wear something embarrassing, mom. We're having dinner in a nice place on Sat.
I've been pretty into this dress. It's not my usual thing, I don't often like patterns much, and the colors could be a smidge better - but the blue and brown is by the face, so it should be fine - but I think it will be awesome with my late summer tan, and, I dunno, I like the way it is tight on top and 3/4 length tight sleeves. Also the low V neckline makes me happy. I'm not sure I'll wear it there, but I am getting it. Lol. With my tan I'm about the same coloring as this girl, but with more red undertones, and not any asian at all.

Well, lessee - Nicksfix confirms her presence after the shows have taken place. Other sources, from what I've gathered, maybe confirm it the week of, or the day of.
My big school loan comes around Sept. 23rd. I would say, if you don't love Petty, and have to see Stevie, then don't book your flight now. Unless you are into the "hang out with ledgies" part. But that weekend goes fast, you want to make sure it's worth it to you. The bad part is, flights get more expensive the closer you get. The good part is, probably more Petty tix will turn up that last week.
My "house" is full, except for floor/couch room, but maybe "someone" would want to share a hotel, I dunno. I say "someone" in quotes b/c so far the only people I know who have a hotel are Jason. Obviously, a third person is welcome to my floor, but that's no way to live!!! (Carrie was on my floor, but due to her recent laptop mishaps, is out. Unless she takes Homie and Haley's advice, and just gets the monitor.)
I gotta say, the weekend will consist of shows, and limited hours before the shows to do stuff, with yummy planned eating before the shows. The best part will probably come after the shows, when we all go out and act a fool, Stevie style. "Well it's a real long way to go - to actafool! I thought I already did that! Have fun withtheledgies!"
But if you are trying to consolidate it into only the weekend, it is only really Friday night (assuming you get here then) Show - Then Saturday day - then Show - then...either you'll have Sunday, or you'll have to travel back on Sunday. If you can get the Monday off, and the Friday, you might be more stoked - if not it will be an expensive trip for 1-2 shows and some good food and a smidge of sightseeing.

I'm thinking, Jason. The biggest problem would be explaining to my husband about flying across the country to hang out with strangers (you're not strangers to ME of course, but you know) to see Tommy Petty and Stevie. I must think and work on this. Jason, if we shared a hotel room, would you help me with my hair and make-up and make me look fabulous?

Never ask the gay man to divert attention from himself. I am the resident fashion consultant.
JK - you can have dragqueenalah if you want, but I look good every day. With normal clothes.
Seriously - I hope you can come - but the cheaper it is, I think the more okay your husband will be. If he cares because of jealous reasons, say you'll be with gay men and chicks - if he cares for money reasons, you'll have to finagle that one.
I'm not good with the husband thing, though - perhaps you should ask Paula - but her husband is seemingly really cool and trusting. But still. If it helps, you won't get into any trouble here, the main issue that you guys might want to talk about will be financial. I don't know from here if your husband will be mad about the financial or the 3 days spent apart - if it's financial, y'all will have to work it out, if it is for any other reason, he doesn't have any reason to worry. I mean, sesly, it's only for 3 days. So, I guess my point is, if the problem is for other than financial reasons, your hub doesn't have anything to worry about. How much debauchery could even happen when you are hanging out with so many straight girls and gay men?! NONE!
The most worst thing that could happen is some bad singing, and possibly some alchohol overindulgence without repercussions. Heck, if it gets you off his back, I'll be personally responsible for your sluttiness!
Mostly we'll be hanging out singing Stevie songs. *shrug* totally innocent.

No, she has a friend Ryan from L.A. that's coming with her to Berkeley.

Oh, whew, I've been waiting to hear.
Jaz, I already have an agenda going. You, naturally, may have a different agenda. Or my agenda may change. But Paula will only be with me for one full day, the rest of the time is either at the shows or after the shows. So it's not really much time to fill. And on Saturday we'll probably meet at the restaurant about 5:00.
Some of us will be meeting a bit more casually before Friday's show - more casually because we will have less time. Paula won't be at my house until 3-4.Eliza is driving up for the show, she probably can't drive up too early. The show starts at 7:00, so that's only a little time to get ready and eat.

Not yet. Bars don't usually have karaoke on Fri and Sat nights. Unless you want to go to some lame bar in the middle of Chinatown on the other side of the bay. I don't, but you're welcome to. :D I'll check, though. I'd rather go to a cool bar I like than a lame bar with karaoke.

You'd actually go to the Mint, a very fun karaoke institution with fun gay/straight mixed crowd. Not possible for this weekend, obviously, being in SF, but for future reference.

My friend said he always goes there, I've never been. He didn't say they had karaoke on Saturday nights, though. Maybe we can go there. Do they have much Stevie? Is it hard to get to be able to sing?

Yeah, they do karaoke every night. I haven't been there in about a year, but if I recall correctly they have several Stevie/FM songs including Dreams, Stand Back, Landslide, Rhiannon, Maybe Love Will Change Your Mind, Silver Springs, SDMHA.
If you go on the early side, like before 8 or 9, you can pretty much have the mike to yourself. But late night Saturday would probably be quite crowded and a long wait to sing.

Yeah, that is what I was thinking - we probably wouldn't get there till one or 12:30 or something, specially if we eat after. :( That is a good selection of Stevie songs, though. We'll see what happens, what everybody thinks. I'd love to go, but my objection would be the lack of time - converseley we could be at the Whitehorse real soon after the show/eating, and so we'd have more time in a bar. But unless I'm able to swing something real special, there won't be karaoke there. Not that that ever stops tons of people from singing at the top of their lungs. :D And if we got to the Mint so late, we probably wouldn't be able to sing anyways.
*sigh* Hey, though, I've wanted to go there for awhile, maybe some random night you and me could hook up and go there? That would be fun.

well, I said that half jokingly. I'm up for whatever, just don't want to be left by my lonesome since it seems everyone has a sidekick or two. my plans so far are:
Friday - arrive around noon, possibly eat with y'all, no concert (though this isn't 100% yet) and go out with y'all afterwards
Saturday - hang out with Paula some if I can (and she lets me) to sightsee and shop or by myself, meet up for dinner and then the concert
that's all I know of...

Definitely, it would not be worth it to go to the Mint after the show. You are better off going to White Horse and making use of the time.
Definitely, let's go to the Mint sometime. Co-workers and I used to go, but it got a little boring. It's been a long time, though, I'd be up for it. I usually sing SDMHA, Refugee, and I Love Rock and Roll. Sometimes I branch out and do Jessie's Girl and 867-5309. I basically suck, though.

Oh, I see. I guess you thought I wasn't going. I thought I said I was going both nights, and also when I outlined the plans a page or so ago I said "we're meeting friday to eat before the show" and also "we're meeting Saturday to eat before the show" but I guess you missed that.
I'm totally giving you shnizz, because of course if you are flying in from way far, and we are doing fun stuff, I would invite you! I thought it was funny you were like "oh...okay" when I intimated that only me and Paula were hanging out together. I just thought it was a given you would join us. Unless you totally wanted to do something else, which would be fine, too.

Yeah, no. I barely work during the weekdays. God, you just reminded me though, I'll probably have some heinous paper or something due the week after, just my luck. Good thing I have my priorities straight, someone more responsible might be tempted to do some school work that weekend.
