You lukcy bitch you! Have you seen her live before? She's f*cking brilliant.
She was on the Today show this morning, btw. I saw Girls Just Wanna... & Money Changes Everything, but I missed the last tune. Better not have been Change of Heart or I Drove All Night. I don't like missing those.

Never seen her - she had to cancel opening for Cher a few years ago, after she hurt her foot in Dallas.
Tickets went on sale at 10 AM - I kept hitting "purchase tickets" from 9:58 until it finally went through at 10:01. I didn't screw around and look for anything else...I'm on the left side, 3 seats away from the center aisle. So I hope she runs around and I get to touch that bitch! :D
I'm also psyched that it's at the Paramount Theatre, very cushy and foo-foo, without the attitude. It will sound great. And they've got a full bar. :p

^ She does run around, you are almost sure to touch her! She has also laid across people's laps or kicked them out of their seats so she could stand on them.

I taped it but won't know until tonight what the last song was. Hopefully it was Shine!
Congratulations, Livia! Looks like I'm going to the Foxwoods show in October. Although I'm hoping she adds a show in the Bay Area. All her Calif. shows are at casinos so far.

It's the same place I saw Kathy Griffin and Bill Maher, very elegant.

It was acoustic She Bop (which I don't really care for).
BUT...great news for Bay Area fans! Cyndi is playing the beautiful Palace of Fine Arts on September 15th!!!!!!!!!! Just saw it on her website. I think there's only 1000 seats or so in the theater. :blob1:

Just got 2nd row for Cyndi's San Francisco show! Must be a ledgie thing.
Ticketmaster was its usual annoying self. Threw back rows M and N. Then bought row J. Then tried again and pulled row D, threw it back, then pulled row B. Madness. Hopefully I will be able to sell my row J seats.

Good for you!!
Ours were on gettix.net, not Ticketmaster. I think I did so well 'cause there was very little promotion beforehand. I first found out here! And only because I subscribe to the Paramount Theatre's list, I got an email from them, saying that tix went on sale at noon. I picked up a Chronicle on Thursday, there was a full-page ad in that saying tix went on sale at 10 AM, not noon. I think that gave me an edge as well.
Anyway, congrats!!!

This is an awesome year for concerts, I'll have seen 4 out of my 5 favorite women singers. Stevie, Maria McKee, Lucinda Williams, Cyndi. All I need is Dolly, but don't think that's likely.

If she does, I will die of jealousy! I definitely want to hold her hand... That's among my "Cyndi to-do list":
1) Hold her hand
2) Meet her / tell her how much I love her, get her to sign one of my LPs
3) Hug her
4) See her sing Sally's Pigeons and I'm Gonna be Strong (and maybe some Anna Blue; she did that once on the At Last tour!!!) live
Not necessarily in that order! ;)

Off topic Carrie - but I meant to tell you, I started to listen to "Hat Full of Stars" the other day, and got up to the end of track 2 before my car CD player went kuput :(
I liked what I heard so far though - the first track almost has a hip hop flavor to it!!

Because I am weird, I especially want to know what she does with that dulcimer in a whole show. They have to be re-tuned a lot, so I wonder does she have a dulcimer roadie?
Anyway, congrats on great seats, and I hope you get to hold her hand, but remember to let go: we don't want her to fall off and injure herself again.:D

I'm going to try to meet her after the SF show. I've been to this venue before, and the performer has to walk into the small parking lot to the bus. I've read that Cyndi signs a lot of autographs, so I'm hoping.

You know what I really like from HFOS? A Part Hate.
Why are the people
Running down the block
Rock throwing, not knowing
What else to do
But I'm just a spectator
And I can never know the pain
But when I hear
That whip cracking
I cry out tears of anger
I cry out tears of shame

I just got back from the San Francisco show. It was opening night and there were a lot of glitches. Cyndi had to start over on several songs and seemed agitated by sound problems. She was also bothered by the placement of the speakers, because she couldn't get to the front of the stage easily.
But her voice was in excellent form and her energy is incomparable. She was three chairs away from me during Shine!! I tried to get her to touch my hand, but she was preoccupied by the fact that her chair was rocking and clearly didn't want to fall.
Totally lame audience. Only about 5 of us stood up when she waded into the crowd during Shine. During the encore, she said "you can stand if you want" and finally they did.
Jill Sobule opened the show. She's a hoot. Cyndi came out during her set and did a duet while playing the dulcimer.
Set list follows...SPOILER
Setlist from memory, could be incomplete and out of order)
Mack The Knife (her song from 3 Penny Opera, just a snippet)
?? (something like "that's what I think about when I think about you")
I Drove All Night (Cyndi writhing on stage...hot!)
All Through The Night (after telling a rambling story for 10 minutes)
New song (something like "From The Other Side")
She Bop
Sisters of Avalon
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (went to back of audience)
Above The Clouds (stunning, sat on stage right in front of me)
True Colors (goosebumps!)
Change of Heart
Shine
Encores:
Unchained Melody
?? Duet with Jill Sobule
Money Changes Everything

 She's such a perfectionist, that Cyndi. She's always got some issue with the sound, no matter what venue she's in. Can't say I blame her for wanting to put on the best show possible!
That's awesome, though. A friend of mine was also at the SF show, but I haven't heard back from her yet about it. I think that new song is The Other Side of Here; she sang a little on the 'behind the scenes' part of the Body Acoustic DVD. :) And she sang That's What I Think!! Kick ass!
Jill is totally cute, isn't she? She opened for Cyn when I saw her in Dec. and was just charming.

She did come across as a major perfectionist, and quite manic. It got to be a little distracting with all the restarting of songs and watching her go up to the sound people and band members during instrumental breaks, obviously complaining or trying to correct things.
But when she sang, it was magic!

Yeah.. She's always like that. I don't remember having too many problems last time I saw her, though, but I know sound issues drive her nuts.
She's consistently amazing. :)

What a great show! My seat was in the 2nd row, but there was no one on the aisle in the front row of my section. The entire front row on the left is only 3 seats wide and I asked the other 2 if they'd mind if I sat there - they didn't. So, I got to touch Cyndi's hip! She was holding the mike in her right hand as she went down the aisle and jumped on an empty seat in the 4th row of the middle section. I got a hand-slap from her another time.
Jill Sobule's set was great - she's hilarious!
Patrice Pike was there w/ a gaggle of what looked like the cast of the L-Word. I said hello to her, gave her a hug - told her "Welcome home" and "You really didn't need that **** anyway." She goes, "I KNOW, right?" And we both cracked up. I told her I had a newfound love for Dave Navarro.
Here's a few pics - you can see how gorgeous this theater is, and how small! It was a real treat to see her in such an intimate venue. She likes to talk a lot - it was kinda like a Storytellers show. I snagged a set list too. We also got Iko Iko as part of the encore. It wasn't on the set list, but she said she wanted to do it because so many Katrina evacuees were now living in Austin, and all over Texas. And like Austin, New Orleans is a city w/ a lot of music and great food.

Drove All Night
All Through the Night
True Colors

Sisters of Avalon
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

The Other Side of Here

Encore:

That's what the set list says - the encore also included a duet w/ Jill Sobule - didn't recognize the song. And they also did Iko Iko right before Money Changes Everything. Jill had a cheat sheet for the lyrics.
