View Full Version : Awful trip to Baltimore

Have you ever had one of those trips that you'd like to forget? Well, we (hubby & I) did. It was just a one overnighter in Baltimore (7/27) to see my one of my favorite bands at Rams Head Live, & it was just a disaster from beginning to end. I planned it for months ahead a time, & even booked the dog in the kennel. I didn't know it when I booked the trip, but a fireman's convention was going on at the time there. I love them, but not all in the city all at once! It was crowded there, hot, I stood in line at the motel for almost an hour just to check in though I tried checking in earlier, but was told that I couldn't check in until 4 p.m.! Walked around Baltimore, sweat just pouring off of me (I'm not good in the heat.), found Rams Head, went from one air conditioned building to another. The final building was Barnes & Noble where I bought a magazine & Stevie Nicks' Rock A Little. (No, I didn't have this one, & this was the only highlight of the trip.) Once in the motel room, barely had enough time to get ready for the show. I had my camera in my little purse. Was told at the doors, "No pictures tonight", but so what, everyone says that, but everyone still takes pictures. I never was stopped by security before in taking pictures & never with this band. This night, everyone was harassed by security. Some big, bald S.O.B. stood up front, facing front the whole time & harassed everyone around him with the no pictures deal which I really couldn't understand. Also stationed around were two security guards, one on the balcony & one on the floor level. Stood there almost two hours before the show so I'd have a good view of the stage & this security guard obstructed my view (couldn't even see the keyboard player). I was so disgusted that I didn't even stay to see the 2nd band in the line-up. It was raining when we got out of there. Had to walk about seven or eight blocks back to the motel. By the time we got back to the motel, it was pouring! Got into bed at 12:30 a.m. & couldn't sleep, upset about the show, bed was too hard, sirens blaring, husband snoring, & air conditioner rattling. I just want to get the heck out of there, so we left at 8:30 a.m. It was just a terrible trip that I'd like to forget. And if I ever go back to Baltimore (which I'm not too keen on right now), I'm not staying at the Holiday Inn or going to the Rams Head Live for a show!

Thanks for letting me get this off my chest!

 THAT SUCKS! I am so sorry to hear about that, but am dying to know...who'd you go to see? I've had a couple shows like that, but thankfully not as trips. =0(

Ugh - that sucks. It's stressful enough going out of town etc - but to add all that aggravation to what was supposed to be a fun little trip just bites.

Well, you've probably never heard of him, Kenny Wayne Shepherd. He's a blue guitarist. He's really good though he's really not a good lead singer, at least not in my opinion. He did most of the singing on his last album, & he should just leave it up to his usual lead singer, Noah Hunt. Noah did most of the singing Thursday night, thank goodness. Anyway, the Fleetwood Mac blues song, "Oh Well", is on Kenny's "Live On" CD. I've gone & seen them play a lot in the course of say nine years, & I've never had a problem taking pictures of them until last Thursday night. So I'm not sure if it the venue's policy or the band requested it. I even turned off my flash off for the last two pictures that I snuck & took. It was the end, the final bow, didn't think they'd say anything, & the S.O.B security guard said, "Put that away!" :distress: I'm still stressing about it all.

If anyone wants to take a look, the pictures I did manage to take are here:

I don't sell the pictures; I just take them for my own personal enjoyment & other people's enjoyment. If you ever get a chance to see this band, they put on a very good show.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd is an awesome guitarist. And he's so young.

Sorry your trip sucked!

Blue on Black is one of my favorite tunes. I haven't listened to any of his other music though. Been meaning to.
