Led Zeppelin won the battle of the bands, but only just.
Now it's time for the ladies....
Who is your favourite and why?

Thanks Strandie :)
I've gone for Joni because her albums mean the most to me, plus she wrote a wonderful song called Song For Sharon and she shares the same birthday as me.
Yeah, you kind of had to vote for her.
I had to do Gwen. It was between Gwen and Tina, the two fabulous energetic dancy performers. I don't want to watch someone who just stands there. I like Tina's growl a lot, too....

Billie Holiday - classic, sultry voice.

Tina all the way. Watch the 24/7 tour DVD and you will know exactly what I'm talking about. She has it all: endless energy, legs that a 30 yr old would kill for, and an amazing stage presence.
I got the chance to see her back in 2000. I've seen a lot of shows, but this one tops them all hands down.

I'm torn between Tina and Billie...I went with Tina since she's more of an entertainer.

I don't see the logic in putting Joni up against these others. Just because she's a woman?
I of course voted for Joni. Actually, she should win this whole thing, because she's heads above most of the people who've been selected for this thing. But then again, it's been well-documented that my musical tastes are very, very different from most other Ledgies. :)

I really do like Tina Turner, but her being more of an entertainer would be a reason for me *not* voting for her. I really am out of sync with most other posters here, I think.

no, I don't think you are really. I mean, I see what you're saying - what I was saying is that she's talented at more than just singing so she beat Billie and is obviously better than Gwen. I am embarassed :sorry: to say I have really never even listened to Joni so I couldn't weigh her in my decision.

I gotta go with Joni - the best female songwriter ever!! But it was tough though, since I love me some "Private Dancer" by Tina, and I think Gwen is one of the coolest chicks to come out in a long time....
But yeah, tough one - but had to go with Joni Mitchell :D

There's no logic to it, other than the fact I had numerous winners from the previous rounds and had to divide them somehow. (Which I clearly stated at the start of the finals)
You can do whatever you want :) ...it just kind of irks me in the same way it irks me when people say she's the "greatest female singer-songwriter." Why do we have to have the "female" qualifier? Because she's a woman you can't put her in with Dylan or Neil Young? That's my only issue.
I also don't see why Joni is so special that I can't put her up against these artists either. They're all singers at the end of the day, who have all achieved big things in the music industry and all have proven to be popular on The Ledge.
If you've listened to any of her albums and still feel that way, then there isn't much I can say that'll change that, I'm afraid.

Gwen got my vote, but only because she's the only one of the options I ever actually listen to, though I'm not crazy about her either.
