I am coming from Ottawa Canada because I have tickets to the Chicago show on Tom Petty's tour (Hoping for Stevie to be there) and wondering about the arena and Chicago itself. I am looking a cheap place to stay that won't break my bank.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I'm not in Chicago, but I've stayed there a few times for concerts and other things.... what I usually do is go on travelocity or expedia.com and find hotels within my price range. You do not know exactly where your staying until you pay for it, but I have never been disappointed. You can find a hotel in the area you wish to be in, and you can find 1,2,3 and 4 star hotels in that area. I think it's the best way to go! And usually, you get them cheaper that way then you would booking the hotel room outright.

I looked and I'm not too familiar with the name of that place. That's not the Tweeter center on the south end of town is it?

It's not. It's the pavilion at Northerly Island- they built a small temporary amphitheatre at Meigs Field, which Daley razed a few years ago just because he COULD. It's a great venue.
Nicks Fan- the venue is accessible from the CTA or taxi if you're staying somewhere downtown. Try expedia or travelocity or something to get a cheap rate.
