Sorry, only whiskey here. Wait. Waaaiiiiiit....*digs in backpack*....yes! I forgot! I bought three of those tiny bottles of Cuervo at the corner store!

If I ever claimed to be a non-drinker, I was probably drunk at the time ...

Actually, it's true that I don't drink very often. I don't think I've had anything to drink in 2 months.

So, but, since you guys hardly ever drink, now's the time!
Sorry, doll, I usually buy Jack. I'll drink any kind, but if I buy it, that is what I'll usually get. Or...wait for it....Black Velvet.

I'd drink Jack, or even well whiskey, in a manhattan. On the rocks.

well, I'm sure you are a doll. Goldstwmn called me a doll when I first met her. It was awesome. I was like "Hi, it's great to meet you!" and she was all "Oh, you're a doll!" and I thought "What a lovely thing to say!" and was duly flattered.

*sip* but seriously, have you ever had Black Velvet? I bought it first b/c of the song, also it is cheap. It's weird whiskey, it hardly tastes. I mean, its flavor isn't that strong, which is unusual.
mainly, I just sing the song whenever I look at it. It's been a long time (which is good) since I've had it.

Wait - Carrie - what are you doing for your bday???

I used to work with a bartender who called me "doll" when really he was the doll.

Not that I know of, but it's blended, and probably tasty, and smooth, hence the name.
At first I thought you were talking about the Irish song "Black Velvet Band" then I realized it had to be the power ballad, from the early 90's. Right?

Carrie, come to the Greek shows! Amber is putting lots of work into researching restaurants, and she will find something delicious for us. And then we will all sing "Crazy On you". You know, if you want to.;)

Thanks, everyone, for the birthday wishes!

Now if I might do a little bit of whining ... I just got back from my family b-day dinner and I'm a little upset because my mother turned it into "The Mom Show" and basically gabbed and talked and showed off and essentially turned my b-day dinner into her own personal stage. I don't want or expect to be lavished with everyone's undivided attention on my b-day, but I also don't want to be alternately overlooked and poked fun at. Sorry for my iffy grammar and sentence structure here, but I haven't gotten a good night's sleep in weeks. Anyway, she also wanted to "have a discussion" with my grandmother on the completely inappropriate (and volatile) subject of the quality of my oldest cousin's homeschooling. There's a time and a place, Mom!! What finally sealed the deal was when we got in the car ... my mom asked why I got ice cream at the restaurant instead of waiting to go to Handel's (best ice cream place ever) once we got back home, and I told her I ordered it because Popo (my g-pa) was getting kind of upset that nobody else was ordering ice cream but him, and what does she say, all sarcastically? Gee, it seems like you've inherited the family trait of trying to please Popo all the time. Just an unnecessary jab.

Tomorrow should be better; my friend Abbie and I are going to do some shopping up in Cleveland Heights and then out for some Mexican food and drinking in the evening. Yay!

No, they didn't. My grandparents did, so it's not like I had to, but still. They don't hate me, they're just retarded. They told me they "can't come up with the money" for a bday gift for me until Sept. which is bull**** for a bunch of reasons, most poignant of all the recent purchase (like 3 days ago) of an air conditioner for their room. I don't need a huge gift, I'd be happy with a book or a cd or just a card and an effing red balloon. Oh, did I mention that during dinner, my mom gave my grandparents and my cousins presents that she got them on our trip?

:(

My husband didn't get me a card, or gift. I was a little bummed about that.
It shouldn't matter that much, in the large picture, but it smarts a little, doesn't it?

Your shopping and drinking trip with your friend reminded me that friends (for me) always come through on B-days. I really wanted to include my old friends in the Family thread, because they are the family you get to choose.

Vacay is cool. Snot the same. For my 21st. birthday my entire family drove 4 hours up to where I lived to celebrate with me.

Oh, well, at least he didn't forget. What sign is he? Did you accidentally marry a Leo? :p
No, I accidentally married a Libra.
My best friend is also a Libra, so clearly there is some lesson for me with them. At least that is what I think.
My mom is an Aries, and I seem to have a lot of those in my life too.
Get me some water - quick! I am like a raisin in the Sun signs!

*shudder*

Libra is my hardest sign. In the way that I'll be friends with them (girls) or date them for a minute, and it ends badly. Not horribly, but it definitely ends. We usually don't have emotional common ground at all.
That being said, most I meet are very nice, easy going, charming, and exceptionally attractive. I do like them well enough, we're just different.
The worst is dating air signs. Now I know, It just won't work, I'll never do it again. Friends only.

My good boyfriends have been 1 Cancer (2 now, I guess), and 2 Scorpios. My bad boyfriends have been Aries, Libra, and Aquarius. Although nothing dramatic or bad really happened with the aquarius, and we were friends a long time before and after dating.

Sorry, that was why I didn't respond to the husband question first. (though my comment about husband was clearly an invitation to threadjack) I am tangent Queen.
Here, have some leftover cake. It is only partially eaten. Watch out for the wax bits.;)

^^^^ I thought because we were all the same sign, threadjacking was okay. Why did I think that? Because I like to put rules I make up into effect.

I just took a birthday lasagna out of the oven. Here. mmmm...Do you want some...uh...birthday yogurt?
