Just came across this article about lead singers who have successful solo careers on msn.com. Here is the link.

http://music.msn.com/music/artistofthemonth/gosolo?GT1=8341

On edit I just realized I should have put it in the Rumours forum. I didn't read the second page. Stevie was featured on the first page under "Five Lead Singer Solo Projects That Stuck". When I went to the second page It featured Lindsey under the title "Five Lead Singer Solo Projects that SUCKED"! Ouch! Actually, the blurb about Lindsey is very flattering. Well, read for yourselves and judge.

Sometimes it totally bugs me how journalists describe her.

That was cool, though, thanks for the link.

Yeah, me too. I didn't think this one was that bad, but they really didn't say anything good about her other than she had a lot of hits. Although Lindsey was in the "sucked" section, they couldn't say enough good things about him, just that audiences weren't responsive to his solo projects. I have to say I don't think "everyone acknowledges" that he was the "singing and songwriting mastermind of the group". If that were the case, it stands to reason that he wouldn't be under the "sucked" heading as far as solo careers.

This journalist is an idiot. His desciption of the great Bryan Ferry's solo work is inane.

I think that lindsey just didn't advertise for is solo works enough, nor did I think that his solo works r that great ::ducks behind chair::

Or implying that "Dream of the Blue Turtles" is "fake jazz."

I'm not sure how Omar Hakim, Darryl Jones, Kenny Kirkland & Branford Marsalis jamming away on "Shadows in the Rain" is fake anything.

I think he spent too much time trying to be different, and focused too much on the technical, forgetting about the soul of his work. JMO. He was too much in his head, not enough in his heart.

Yikes. It's crap to see Lindsey under that heading but, as was said, virtually everything they said about him was really great. The basic point was: This guy was really good, he just didn't click with audiences.
Which I think we'd be saying anyway??
