These hip-hop artists are the most insular artists of all time. From what I've read, most of them seem totally unacquainted with any music outside their own sphere. Having a conversation with any of them about music must be a real joy.

I remember that one incident several years back with LL Cool J, who was going to perform on some awards show. They gave him an actual band--you know, people. But he freaked out over hearing people play his music live behind him. He had never previously done that (or apparently even seen a standard rock concert). He had only ever performed with a couple of guys spinning vinyl through amplifiers behind him, & pressing various buttons.

David Mn...you are so right about those Hip Hop artists...however, if you didn't know this, you'll be shocked as I was LOL....a teacher at work lives next dor to Young Mc...he had an early 90's hit called Bust a Move (great song..before rap and hip hop started sounding stupid and like **** LOL)...anyhoo, his favorite band is Fleetwood Mac!! :eek: :eek: ...this teacher has told him about me several times, and he LOVES to talk to her about his obsession. He has collector stuff all over the house, like all of us LOL....and...someone else who's not in the same type of music genre, Axl Rose...his idol is Elton John!! WOO HOO!! who knew? :lol:
