View Full Version : Could this happen?

Here's a scenario: Let's say Fleetwood Mac puts out the big blowout Box Set I think theyre going to next year. I'm talkin 5 or 6 cd's including at least 1 with completely unreleased material. Perhaps 5 or 6 new songs and more older stuff too. Let's say it's billed as the 40th anniversary tour. Under this plan I think Christine might consider coming back for this one time. It wouldnt be a terribly long tour, and there wouldnt be a year and a half in the studio making an all new record. I'm sure it's a pipe dream of mine, but what the hell right?

I've thought about that too. I seriously hope that if they do bill it as a farewell, or anniversary tour, that Chris will tour one last time. If they limit it to, say, 40 dates (40 years, 40 dates, get it?) without any chance of adding any more shows on, I hope she'd do it. I really don't think she will, but I hope. Like you said, in our dreams.

Fleetwood Mac Megacube! Fleetwood Mac Megacube! Fleetwood Mac Megacube!
Sorry, I just had to say it!

I know this has kinda been beaten to death, but if you sit and think about it, from a marketing standpoint, how many bands celebrate a 40th anniversary? I definitely believe something like this would sell more than a new cd, because at this point youd be celebrating their past, not trying to market a new cd trying to compete with all the lame-asses out there.

Christine won't do it.:( I'll bet anyone $100.00.
I think the only way she'd ever be talked into it would be if it were only one or two shows, in London.

I'm going to be positive and say I think something like this WILL happen. Roll on 2007.

NOTE: I didnt include other past member of the band because I felt Christine was the most likely to rejoin the band, as unlikely as that might be.

Eh, I'm 95% sure Bob Welch would do it, if asked. Think how cool it would be to have Bob do 5 or 6 songs with them.

Me neither. She'll be 64 years old next year. She hasn't played live in nearly 10 years. After reading or hearing all those ITM interviews of two years ago, that's exactly the way she wants it.
I do think there will be some sort of box set/greatest hits compilation released next year.

Absolutely, I believe all they'd have to do is ask her. She hinted in those interviews that she wouldn't have minded recording with them. The problem was the touring, which I think is ridiculous. She still LOVES recording in the studio.

There are some bands out there where that's not the case. A prime example of that would be Don Felder and the Eagles.

I think she meant that it's kind of ridiculous that FM wouldn't really let Chris contribute to an album if she wasn't going to tour....Is that right, Mary Anne?

Unfortunately, I agree. It could be the easiest cash you ever make.
I can't say I blame Christine for saying NO MORE. Even a 40th anniversary box set isn't likely to stop Mick from trying to keep the Mac going until he'd dead. I can see a 50 year edition coming out, too. All the new songs woild be drum solos.

Same here. She got out at the right time. She went out in style with the Dance.

Unfortunately that's probably true, unless he makes a fortune selling his wine.

She sure did. Much as I'd love to see it, I don't think she'll join up again, not even a once-off. As has been said, it's been almost ten years.
Though more recording sure would be sweet. :D

I saw them twice in the UK without Chris (the second time because I believed the rumour that she would be there - well she was there but not on stage)
If she had been playing I'd have gone to a lot more concerts.
Now I doubt if I'd pay out the £75 to go again.
Unless....... (stop it Gail!)

It would still be a fairly predictable set. It would be interesting only in that they'd be doing songs they haven't done in years, and even then...Let's just say that Bob would probably end up doing as many Peter Green songs as he would his own (which, don't get me wrong, would be super cool).
The Green Manalishi
The Chain
Dreams
Second Hand News
Oh Well
Rhiannon
Black Magic Woman
I’m So Afraid
Gold Dust Woman
Ebony Eyes
Big Love
Landslide
Say Goodbye
Never Going Back Again
Sentimental Lady
Sara
Eyes Of The World
Future Games
Peacekeeper
Affairs Of The Heart (they have to do at least ONE post-Rumours song...)
Rattlesnake Shake
Gypsy
Tusk
Hot Love, Cold World
Stand Back
Go Your Own Way
World Turning
Hypnotized
Don’t Stop
Goodbye Baby

I agree with your predictable set list. I don't think Stevie will do affairs of the heart (I would love to see her do Freedom) - I could see Lindsey doing 'In the Back of My Mind'. However I feel more SYW songs would be on their. I think that Lindsey would do 'Come' and Stevie would do 'Say You Will'. I would love to see Sisters of the Moon on there as well as Sara but i doubt that Sara will get done as Stevie has only performed it twice in the last 16 years as far as I am aware and it hasn't been on an official set list since 'Rock a Little' and even then it was dropped in the second week. I understand why she doesn't perform it but it is a fantastic song and she should do it at maybe every 3rd show or something. I'd also like to see another Stevie solo song on there. Maybe Enchanted slipped in or Outside the Rain.

-LisThat's interesting. I had not heard that angle before. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I can see both sides of the arguement.
