omg. how happy does she look? swinging her legs and the mic stand. you know, it makes me wonder just how much LESS pressure she feels when she's only performing a couple songs at someone else's gig?

I love the intensity behind this song. Can anyone tell me where this song lands in the set-list? If this informtion was given previously, sorry for asking again but I missed it and I am curious. I would guess towards the beginning? Or am I wrong?

p.s. Do not ask me about the skirt.

I love how Petty can't seem to EVER make it to the mic on time!

Stevie looks and sounds great! I love it when she's all pumped up into a frenzy! I also love how she raised one leg while singing into the mic at one point. Awesome.

It's always interesting to see Stevie when she's actually interested in performing. This is pretty good considering how tired and phoned in she's been doing this one over the years. Really awesome that Tom Petty is such a no ego kind of dude that he has no issues whatsoever handing her the lead.

I was really hanging on the end waiting for the "Well, take your violet and blue morning wiiiith you!!!!" at the end- it felt like she was gonna go for it.

I've been listening to the song from the charlotte show, and she does gun it doesn't she!! Gets into it, takes a little risk with her voice instead of staying the "Stevie safe" range... which to me just aint exciting as its so trained. In the audio i can here her having some fun and simply rockin it! Fabulous to hear, she must feel more rock and roll with them and taking the boring easy approach to the songs just dont cut it with these fun guys! I was so expecting her to say the voilet and blue end as well... she so could of, and i hope she does during one of the shows.... i live how she pushed the end of the lines... ie" lllliiinnnes"

so great to hear her like this... her solo tour sucked in comparison... oops did i just say that???

OMG, She kicked it so hard, I nearly fell off my chair  :blob2: :]
Whooo, hooo for the lasso move !! Man, was she really getting into it.

I really do hope that for the next FM tour, Stevie stays true to her sense of style and does not tone it down so much like in the SYW tour. She is fit and energetic and needs to show it more at an FM concert.

Thank you for posting this. I grinned from ear to ear knowing Stevie is having so much fun.

I wish she'd stop skirt dancing. She sounds great, but I cannot stand how she now grabs her skirt and shmings it around. Just let the skirt go, and really dance. Or don't. But for god's sake, flipping your skirt back and forth is lame.

No, it was different in that video. "Swish" is different than "shake" or "shming".
Plus, you love it?!? You've got to be kidding. She looks like she's trapped by her skirt, and might actually dance if she let go of it - especially if that hand of hers works up as much momentum as it looks like.

Here's her stage directions:
1. Grab Skirt
2. Shake hand like a palsy victim
3. Do not let go of skirt
4. Do not dance.
5. Shake skirt slightly out of time

Edit - I don't love the skirt, either, but she can wear a paper bag if she'll just stop grabbing and shaking it lamely.

It's retarded comparatively. there was a time she didn't do that. And why does she do it now? It doesn't look good. It distracts me. She should be holding the mic and strutting around is what she should be doing.

Ha! You sound like my mom, assessing one of my outfits in high school, except she would have said "50-year old table cloth one finds in the rag bag"
I sort of like that buttery color, but I do think she is a little buried in all that fabric, and that was my main complaint with the Tango-era outfits. I also agree with Amber that there is little too much swishing happening. It reminds me of ballet folklorico, or square dancing.
I don't have any complaints about her vocals here, though -what I can hear of them- she just sounds great.

Absolutely, actually I'm developing a huge crush on Tom Petty :D . I had never seen him onstage before; he has such a class and after listening to these concerts I think he is one of the best original rockers around.

About Stevie is really a joy to see her having so much fun performing. I had never loved much this song but she gave to it new life here. About the skirt, I like it, and the skirt movements seem to be like a Linus' blanket for her so they don't bother me.

In this INTK vid, Stevie seems relaxed enough to take some chances and I'm glad Tom allows her to do that. He must trust her and have a great deal of respect for her. This makes me think of the way it could have been for Stevie, or maybe was at one time, in her early days with Fleetwood Mac... you know, before Lindsey started obviously having a "problem" with Stevie's increasing popularity and fame. It also seems to drive home the fact that she really does pace her performances on solo tours. I agree, I would almost prefer to see her tour with other people, such as Tom, if she's going to put in a performance that reminds us of how she used to be.

That said... I agree on the skirt issue, lose it. It doesn't work. If she's going to rock a little more, then lose the granny layers and go with something a little less flouncy and quite a bit shorter. Sex it up a bit, I know she can and would look absolutlely fab.

The other thing I'd like her to lose is that darn tambourine and those ribbons. I'm tired of it already. It's been way too long. I know it's her signature thingiemabob, but honestly... that was then, this is now. I guess I'm ready to have Stevie change things up a bit and get down and gritty a little more. Love the mic stand action and the leg lifting... keep going with that kinda stuff, that's great!

I'm happy to see her stretching out. It shows she's gaining more confidence in herself and I hope she keeps going with it. Who know, maybe it could make a huge difference in her career.

..The skirt thing however is something else, sorry, but she looks a bit Sound of Music milk-maidish, I mean c'mon now, she's up front with a rocki'n band, doing some good old rock songs and thats all she can wear? She complains that she has to wear suitable stuff for FM (Lindseys fault apparantly)but hey wouldn't a bit of tight black leather go down well here ala Chrissie Hynde, a jean jacket? leather pants? Stevie..please dig out all that other stuff in your wardrobe thats been put away for years, polish it up and get out there, Tom and his mates deserve a hot looking woman up front with them
