LOS ANGELES -- "Tonight" host Jay Leno might want to consider wearing referee stripes on Wednesday's show when Ann Coulter and George Carlin are his guests.

Coulter, the acid-tongued conservative with a new book out, and Carlin, the quick-witted, antiestablishment comedian who's in the voice cast for the new animated film "Cars," were booked at separate times for the NBC late-nighter, a spokeswoman said Monday.

But the duo's meeting could produce serious fireworks for "Tonight," which usually limits its political fodder to Leno's bipartisan monologue jokes.

Coulter, author of "Godless: The Church of Liberalism," has drawn fire for attacking the four New Jersey widows who pushed for an independent commission to investigate the Sept. 11 World Trade Center attacks in which their husbands died.

In her book, Coulter accuses the women of "reveling in their status as celebrities and stalked by grief-arazzis. I've never seen people enjoying their husbands' deaths so much."

An appearance by Coulter on NBC's "Today" led to a prickly exchange with host Matt Lauer over her comments on the widows.

Also scheduled for "Tonight" Wednesday is Scottish singer and songwriter KT Tunstall.

Chin-Chin-Chinnie Boy Leno (A pig with it's vocal chords sliced could give a better interview than Zero, I mean Leno...Btw Conan rules!!!) or the Coultergeist...But George Carlin is GOD!!! I just may have to watch this.

Brian "Don't anyone think it's ironic that the Persian Gulf War is being run by two guys by the name of Dick Cheney & Colin Powell? Sounds like somebody is getting f**ked-George Carlin circa 1991" j.

This may be worth staying up for. Or, like Maria said, figuring out how to tape it. :)

One thing I love about summer is being able to stay up and watch the late night talk shows. I really can't say I dislike any of them, except the one Carson Daly had.....he had no idea wtf he was doing. I like Leno, Letterman, and Conan (funny SOB).

I remember loving George Carlin as Mr. Conductor in Thomas the Tank Engine. I LOVED that show when I was little. :D

I find them both to be very abrasive and annoying.

As much as I seriously hate Leno, I have to record this. Carlin is the best!

George Carlin is one of my alltime favorite comedians. He's actually somewhat conservative in some ways so it will definitely be interesting.

I wish people would stop inviting Coulter to be on their show.

I'm not a Leno fan either. I love David Letterman and Craig Ferguson and his sexy Scottish accent.

1. Does she have another dress?

2. Did she actually assert that chapter in her book is not "nasty"

3. Her point is assinine because no one is faulting her for questioning the credibility of the Jersey Girls. The issue is with the manner in which she did it.

One of the arguments she made about liberals could very easily be said about the wrong wing Repugnicans she is the poster child for.

My favourite part of that whole show was K.T. Tunstall's acoustic performance of "Black Horse And The Cherry Tree."

Eh - I decided not to watch. I cannot stand the sight of her. She makes me ill.

And it sickens me that people keep giving her attention - if they stopped putting her on all the damn shows and stopped "being outraged" at her piece of **** book then perhaps she would fade into oblivion.

Was there any interaction between her and George Carlin?

She looks like a crack whore from the ghetto. I can't stand her. She needs to shut up and eat a hamburger.

Look at her book! It's No. 1 or No. 2 or something. People love a scandal, & certainly the news programs do, talking about this night & day.

This reminds me of when 200 actors, producers & directors put out an ad in Variety calling for a ban of John Simon reviews in New York magazine. The readership just flocked to his columns in greater numbers, & the Letters pages were filled with feedback.
