It has trickled down to me (as Reagan always promised) that according to a reactionary, hippie-baiting and fear mongering media... today is an auspicious date for calamity to ensue and give civilisation as we know it a good what for! 6/6/06.

Can't you just feel the electricty of sheer apathy in the air? Well, because I am the last person left without a personal 'blog' I am inflicting my thoughts about this major event with extended coverage. Any good breaking news event needs a special soundtrack as well as snazzy logos and expert guests, but because I have no logos or guests here is my soundtrack for 6/6/06...

It's The End Of the World - R.E.M.
Eve Of Destruction - Barry McGuire (known hippie)
In The Year 2525 - Zager & Evans (unknown hippies)
Party At Ground Zero - Fishbone
Dancing With Tears In My Eyes - Midge Ure
Earth Is Not Room Enough - The Mighty Groundhogs
If Tomorrow Never Comes - Garth Brooks
It's The End Of the World - R.E.M. (again)
In A Gadda Davida - Iron Butterfly

Calamity is actually very likely to ensue, as this is voting day. :( Electricity of sheer apathy, indeed!

Now, where is our supreme lord and master, Brian J.?? Perhaps celebrating.

For your hippy-o-meter, not that you answered me, but

I'll be voting mostly green today.

Uh oh, wasn't the Green getting all the blame in previous elections? You must be one of those anarchist hippies. I lived in Seattle for awhile so I know these things.

I really did try to get my Mom to believe that it was hippies that stole my lunch on my way to school when I was little. That's how far back this is rooted in my psyche.

Just notice the obvious Black Panther salute in that propagandist photo! Have to find a suitable MC5 song for my list...

Yes. Supporting environmental sustainability and social justice is ruining our elections!!!!

And of course it's a Black Panther salute, I live in Oakland.

You're right! I don't have a car, but as soon as I can afford my hybrid, I'll stick it on there.
Wait - this is Berkeley, I work for a printer, there's about a billion hybrids here...I should sell that bumper sticker! Great idea, thanks becca.

You forgot "Black Sabbath" by Black Sabbath. That is the doomiest song I've ever heard:

Black Sabbath

What is this that stands before me?
Figure in black which points at me,
Turn 'round quick and start to run,
Find out I'm the chosen one
Oh, No!

Big black shape with eyes of fire,
Telling people their desire
Satan sitting there he's smiling,
Watches those flames get higher and higher
Oh, No, No please God help me!

Is it the end, my friend?
Satan's come around the bend,
People running 'cos they're scared
Ya people better go and beware
No! No! Please! No!

That goes for just about any early Sabbath song -

Into The Void
Children of the Grave
Wheels of Confusion
Behind the Wall of Sleep
Hand of Doom
Looking For Today
Killing Yourself to Live...

You get the picture

Yeah but in my opinion, B.S. is the doomiest. That was my point .

Eep. Scary lyrics. That is the song for today alright. I only remember Iron Man and Paranoid off the top of my head though. Somebody dropped some fast food wrappers on our yard today. I am certain that this is only the first sign of the beginning of the evil times foretold by Pat Robertson, and also Chef Boyardee (in his dangerously radical autobiography 'Aah, you like-a the pasta, eh?').

Is there anybody still left out there? Be careful, tell those close to you how you really feel!!! Don't end up feeling foolish because you scoffed on this day of reckoning.

Damn, you beat me to it! I was going to say that one. Geezer Bulter's lyrics are so fantastic at portraying the impending doom. Ozzy's wailing vocals fit pperfectly as well.
There's plenty of latter day Sabbath songs that are equally doomy eg. After All (The Dead), Virtual Death, Over and Over. But I agree - for sheer atmosphere and impending doom look no further than the song Black Sabbath. Iommi is the master of the dark atmosphere. (I'm going to stop there because Sabbath are my all time favourite band and if I don't stop now I'll keep typing forever lol)

 yeah, Sabbath was a great band. I've always been a big fan of the song "Sweet Leaf" m'self. There's a brand of bottled tea that you can get here (maybe you guys have it too?) called Sweet Leaf and whenever I see it, that song comes blaring into my head: "I LOVE YOU SWEET LEAF!"

guess we are all hellbound according to a TV segment on my local news-A catholic priest stated that using an old numerical style system of giving letters of the alphabet a numerical value, that "WWW" (As in "World Wide Web") equates to 666

but if ya knock on wood sometimes ya get splinters!

just saw a segment on 666 before the local weather, and according to a website that equates names with numbers the anti-Christ is none other than former President Bill Clinton.

****, that is funny as hell.

here's the website that 'proclaims" Clinton to be the Anti-Christ:

William J. Clinton has the number of the Beast

I dont see Stevie being a Satanic high priestess, She doesnt wear red enough

Oh, Used the charts provided and the numerical values for Greek & Hebrew for my name werent close to 666:

Hebrew 433
Greek 626
