View Full Version : If You Could Spend The Afternoon With Any Ledgie
David

If you could spend the afternoon with any ledgie . . . Not for sex, not for drugs, just for FM conversation & checking out that person's FM collection . . . or anything that pops into your head.
I would hang out with GarboSpeaks! for conversation & to see her cool photos & scrapbooks, & also to get a specific perspective on the fan community through her knowledgeable eyes.
I'd also hang out with heyjupiter & mylittledemon just to jam on FM songs & listen to that amazing voice sing all our favorites.

Oh you David, definitely you! :p
I'd spend the afternoon with Livia cuz she just lives across town from me :D and I know she has a kick ass Stevie collection of just about everything.
Sweet.

No flattery intended but I'd like to hang with you dude. You seem to be interesting, high energy, and I'd like to learn more about Ludwig:)

Actually, I have spent the afternoon with many a Ledgie doing just that

I'd wanna chill with Carrie721... because... duh, she's just awesome like that. And Mary Anne, so we could chat it up about Chris. :) And god, I don't know who else. Anyone who isn't an ass. The majority of you are pretty cool, so it's hard to narrow it down.

You picked a good one, I've had the pleasure of hanging out with Anita and she is alot of fun! Also a real sweetheart. I would also love to see her collection!

I won't include people I've already met, even though I'd love to hang with any one of them again. I also won't include Deanna since we may "do lunch" soon.
I would love to go camping & throw back a few beers with Maria.
I would love to hang with Alicia & Jill & see their collections.
I would love to have a big party with all of my gays - Strand, Tower, Jaz, Curtis. Any other gay boy is invited too, I just didn't want to assume anyone else would want to be included as one of my gay BF's and list their names. It would be so much fun I don't know if I could stand it.
I would like to see Chili play live so I could drunkenly yell "Free Bird" at him all night.
I would like to hang with Steve & Homer & set up a playdate for our dogs.
I would like to go to Brian J's house to stare at his music collection & try to take it all in.

It would never happen...he's always busy doing something (which I think is a ruse...BRIAN WILSON got out more in his bathrobe phase than David does now). I've lived within 5 miles of the guy for nearly 8 years and only have seen him once...briefly...before the altercation in the bar two tables away and freaked him out so bad he high-tailed it outta there...haven't seen him since.
Excuse me...  "high energy"??
But, yeah...many years ago when he let himself see daylight, he was a kick to hang out with.

Ok, um...Red Bull through the nose doesn't exactly feel that great, but that is REALLY funny. I'd be laughing the whole time, but I can't guarantee your safety from other members of the band.

Sniff, sniffle just saw this! OMG! you sweethearts David & SuzyQ. I am all "aw shucks" right now. :o
An old pal that I recently became reacquainted with, she was a MAD Stevie collector. When I first met her, I was awed at her collection. At the time, I had several 45's, some LP's, pics, the usual collectible stuff, but nothing like what she had. Long story short, we had a horrible falling out, but came back into contact at the last Vegas show. She moved back to California, and upon seeing "my room" bout fell to the ground. In our friendship absence, I had honed my collecting, and had a spare room to really show it off. Now she was in that kind of awe that I had been back when.
All my SN pals that come over or any virtual stranger I can drag into this room, to show off....have been overwhelmed at the collection. It's such a kick ass feeling to share it w/ SN fans. Not in a "naner, naner" way...not at all, but if you can't share and talk about all this crap...what's the point? Recently another SN fan came to my dwelling and about 3 hours in this room barely grazed what all there was to look at. Was a blast to share it. I know I could meet many of you out there that would put this room to shame.
I'd like to spend a day w/ any ol' Ledgie here, cause for them to be here, and me to meet them, means we could embark on yakin' about all this stuff. I met SO many great Ledgies in Vegas...and I wanna meet all the rest of ya. Chili would be fun to meet, cause I know he'd have plenty more concert stories...not just FM/SN ones :p I LOVE concert stories...about all bands.
I'd love to meet David, Amy and many others. Too many. Way too many great folk here to name. But man...that was a real treat seeing that post. :xoxo:

See, I am envious of the fact that you are so organized about all of it. I have quite a few items but I just really never got them together to put on display. I doubt that anyone would want to see my posters that have been on my wall for decades.

And of course Jason because I love him and just know we would have fun together. PLus, I really want him to do my make-up someday. xoxo
I met a Ledgie once last summer in Charlotte- actually I stayed at the same hotel as she and her boyfriend (husband?) did. And now, I can't remember her name (real and/or Ledge name). I would like to hang out with any Ledgie (seriously) because it would be someone just as weirdly obssessed as me. SOmeone that I could go on and on about Stevie with and they wouldn't think I was weird. Ah, bliss.

I don't know about that. I get several people thru here that aren't SN fans, but music or sports or movie fans in general. People who understand the obsession of collecting. That's what's so fun. Like I don't care for say R&B music...rap, but if I walked into someones home and saw a mad collection on Eminem or something...I'd get it. It's just connecting with others that understand. No matter on what topic or organization of it all. I wanna see your posters =0p Actually I just wanna be you in all the times you've seen LB heehee. Seeing you on that Soundstage DVD (I only just revently got it)...I was like OH MAN! SOOOO COOOOOOOL!

SOOOO COOOOOOOL!It's just like the greatest Stevie Nicks collector of them all, Roland Benoit, who lives in New Jersey. He liked Stevie, yes, but he amassed such a collection of the most startling, surprising & pleasurable Nicks material primarily because he loved the thrill of collecting! It was the collecting & archiving itself that gave him that thrill, that buzz, that high.

Trust me you don't want to see them. Well, anyway I have that huge Fleetwood Mac poster with the concert photo collages from 1975/76. The Bella Donna cover, the ballet pose, the one of Stevie in the flesh colored body suit with her hand outstretched, and one of Stevie where she is holding a rose to her chest. The last 2 are concert ones.
Soundstage was amazing. I just wish that he would do something like that again and of course that I will get to be there.

I always wondered if there was a revered "collector" out there. Someone that took the highest place of memrobilia shtuff. LOL. I remember getting into touch w/ this girl Donna. She is the cats meow. She is a record collector like I, and here I am going on about my 100+ FM/SN collection of 45's. Then she sends me her list. Like I wanna say 3 or 400 45's, all FM/SN & respective relations. HOLY CRAP! I was SO enamored! Yea it's cool cause it's SN/FM, but ti's cooler cause it's a thing unto itself. I mean who the hell knew there could possibly be that many 45's on them out there????? WOW!
But David, your collection is nothing to scoff at I am sure. Do you collect other things? That's my problem. I am as much of a collector on Siouxsie too. Not as pricey, and E-baying w/ her, but I collect her as well, and some other stuff. Makes life financially difficult. Heehee

When I was moving from Stockton to Santa Cruz as a kid, I had that large FM poster. I thought this poster will NEVER endure the move so, in my infnate wisdom, I cut it all up =0( I cry everytime I see one on Ebay for a King's ransom. As it is, I have few of the pics I cut out of it left. YES....I wanna see it. lol

Okay, I would want to hang out with anyone who is playing instruments and lets me sing FM with them, or Jazzster, because he would sing with me. Basically, anyone who is singing/playing an instrument. Alternatively, Paula, because I already know it would be fun, and Trackles, b/c ditto. And, of course, Strand would both sing and be fun. Trick is to get him to sing FM.

I'd like to spend the afternoon with #1GaelBernalFan, who, as you all know, is one of my favourite Ledgies. We'd chat about Y Tu Mama Tambien, why he/she/it never posts and how hurt we were when David left us both off his list of Ledgies he'd most like to spend the afternoon with.

See, everyone is getting upset because everyone is putting up big lists. But you're only supposed to cite one person just out of the blue & explain why it would be enjoyable to hang with that particular person.
Oh, so we're supposed to spin our internal Ledgie roulette wheel! Why didn't you say so?
I would spend the afternoon with madformac and it's none of anybody's business why.

I love that you gave me a huge reading assignment for the weekend. ;)
Not much better than having kids who love you.
I actually made it easy for you, I bolded the parts that prove me right and used red type for especially telling points and bold red type for stuff you certainly shouldnt ignore!!
Actually Ryan (you are Ryan right?), I have to applaud you for your evenhanded
attitude. You are a fine example of a diplomat and and advocate all in one! You also are open minded and are willing to look at the other side of an issue, which is RARE in this politically charged environ......I hope someday I get to meet you (you live in CA right?, Im still trying to get everyone straight)

Well I thought about spending the day with you, but if you insist on getting crappy ass songs stuck in my head, forget it! "Precious and few are the moments....." ACK!
Nobody will want to hang with me if I can't get my song titles right CHEEZ!
I meant "Brass in Pocket" Crap, now I have that other song stuck in my head!
And, I also like that Tori Amos song, Suze

I think I already answered that, Im not as fanatic about FM/Stevie/Lindsey (unless its a Stevie/Lindsey thing) as most of you....I havent been to any concerts (cant afford it) and only have boots that people have graciously shared with me. So, if you're faulting me for sticking to the chit chat forum, OK, but I find I get a lot of valuable cultural and political info here.
btw: I DO venture into the Stevie and Lindsey forums on occasion. If you want to know the color of my stripes, I am a PROUD Shipper, and I firmly believe Stevie and Lindsey love each other and will end up together. I am NOT an insider, however.

I was prom king at my prom and on homecoming court almost each year of high school so if no one objects, I'd like to be the director. nominations will be given in home room.
I dont know but I wanna be seated next to David Mn.

I'll be Stevie, the runner up.

I think it would be fun to spend a pre-concert afternoon with a lot of ledgies so we can have discussions on FM, etc. Those that I consider my ledgie friends are playful, caring and knowledgable of FM so I know we would share a lot of goodstuff....and then to attend a kick-ass concert...perfection!!

Ryan - I'm not really a ton of fun. I'm about a quarter ton of fun, depending. Sometimes, too, I'm quietly fun.

I go instrumenting tonight at a commercial rehearsal room. A lady I met on a Yahoo group last year wants to form a Stevie Nicks tribute group, so she asked me to play too. Tonight we are getting together to hear a guitarist whom she found somewhere (probably the PennySaver). It could be fun, but it's way too hot here now, & my gall bladder is probably inflamed because I have been in a bile humour for several months now, with tummy ache, & I feel unable to fully evacuate.

Even though no-one wants to spend the afternoon with me, I'd be happy to spend an afternoon with anyone here. Maybe that says I need to get out more, and maybe that's true

Actually, I've always liked you. I do have that "singing or playing an instrument" rule for my list, though. Would you care to be one of the scantily clad male dancers?

I can play the triangle (sort of) does that count? Or how about two blocks of wood? Maybe the kazoo?

Now that you made my day, I'll do the scantily clad dancer thing if you like. I sing a bit in the right company, does that count?

You can play that block thing that Stevie played during SOTM Mirage. I guess. I was actually going to play that, as I think a tambo would be too complex for me. But, who am I kidding? I can't play something and sing at the same time.

Sure! Why not? But does that mean you suck as a singer? If so, perhaps you should just hum softly. I'm assuming "the right company" means three or four beers?

 No, it means I'm a bit shy  Having said that, three or four beers may also be a pre-requisite. I also fiddle about on guitar, but there I really do suck :(

Oh, that sounds great! I guess I'll find another scantily clad dancer, you can just sing with the rest of us. I think the other guitar players on here might kick your ass if you tried to play, though, I think we have some good 'uns.

I will stay inside and practice today. Too hot outside. (it's going to be 113F today outside...Or 45C for our metric friends)

I can take the cold much more than the heat. The thin blooded here start puting on Jackets when it gets down to 70F (That's 21C for the metrics) I don't think about a jacket until 40F or so. (4C) But then again I have a washboard stomach - with a little laundry on it. :D

but whereas Vegas has dry/arid desert heat, we have moist air (At 6PM it was 101 w/36% humidity which is very sticky).
People dont seem to realize that Oklahoma is a brutal place for weather (Been in the mid to high 90's everday since late April-I thnk we'll see this town's 118 record temp a few years ago be surpassed this summer...Since we had no Springtime)

 That's great. I love that phrase and will probably use it to death now that I've heard it, is it yours?
You'd survive Boston well. The temps out there are crazy! Here it rained and was chilly (50-ish) the entire weekend. This was okay because I spent it working on my Kenya pics website getting ready to put up the film pics. Right now the weather here is perfect. I'm not sorry because how rare is it that I can say that in Boston? That said, I hope it cools off for you soon!

Im glad I've contributed something to the political discussions, but I always think of gldstwmn and Suze and Strand and Diss as Political heavyweights around here  If Im in with them in that category, then Ive ascended into political junkie heaven :) Thank YOU Ryan for being open minded and fair and an all around decent human being! :xoxo:
Well that's funny because I think of you as a heavyweight! I've taken a break from that since coming back from Kenya. It just lost its importance for a bit with me. When you see that kind of poverty it makes our complaints seem unreasonable. They aren't, it's just how my perspective has been shifted since returning. I am sure I will get involved again.
I've also been busy with my pictures and website. Plus I didn't want to fill my head with new things and forget what happened. I transcribed my travel journal so I could remember everything, adding anything important that was missing.

I'll bet. My take has always been that we are such a wealthy and privileged nation that things like health care, homelessness, and hunger shouldn't be issues here so that we can focus our attention on helping other parts of the world.

Same here. But that means you're a socialist! No one falls into a simple set of labels. :p
An anecdote - I was walking home with my roommate from a club last Thurs and I asked this guy on the street who was on his shirt. His friend was like, "Why, ARE YOU A SOCIALIST?" Jesus, I have no idea who was on that kid's shirt still. I'm like, "Frankly, yeah a lot of my beliefs are in line with socialism because I like people". Of course he had nothing to say to that except "WHAT ARE YOU A SOCIALIST?" Friggin drunk neocons man. What else was a Bostonian to do but call him "retahded". I said, "What are you, retahded?" and walked off. That felt great, man.

this nation being that privileged these days-When we went grocery shopping this past Friday there were fliers on the grocery store doors stating that "500,000 Oklahomans will go to bed tonight either without eating or being able to provide food for their children".
Let's see, that is an estimated average of 1 in 6 in this state of 3 million who need food...Not a good figure.

That was my point but probably wasn't explained well. The nation as a whole (not each individual) is wealthy and privileged compared to so many others. Which means that we should be able to ensure that all citizens have health care, food, and basic shelter. Not only is the 1 in 6 in Oklahoma not a good figure, it is a national disgrace.

but during the 90's this state's economy bit the dust, It has never really recovered (Most in Oklahoma blame Clinton's signing of NAFTA for the death knell for the Oklahoma economy). Imagine how hard it is now for those who cannot afford the current gasoline prices when they cant afford to feed their families...Sure dont see our federal govt. giving a flying donkey trot about it.
Most Indian tribes are able to care for their members, so they do not have to be without food if they apply for commodities (We can qualify for 'em, but since we can afford food I dont want to take food that could feed someone else)...However the state government do not have the $$$ to care for everyone else, So the black, white & other citizens suffer (It's total BS when the state's school teachers & state employees want yet another pay raise, when the state cannot even feed it's citizens.)

I didnt mean to sound ignorant, but I've heard some tribes arent exactly swimming in dough.
depends on if they have invested wisely or not. The most successful tribes in Oklahoma take their profits from Casinos/Resorts and reinvest it in helping their members.
The Five Civilized Tribes of Oklahoma (Cherokee, Creek, Choctaw, Chickasaw & Seminole) have hundreds of millions of dollars, Where as tribes such as the Kiowa's (Which are based in this town) have next to nothing.
Matter of fact the Creek Nation is opening a $96 million expansion of their casino in Tulsa, and the Chickasaw tribe is opening a huge casino directly off of I-35 (Fact-The Chickasaw Nation owns all the land that borders either side of I-35 from the Norman city limits all the way to the Texas state line, Over 100+ miles of interstate access.)
