Grahhhhrhrhrhrh!!! I'm so mad now that I wasn't in choir with you? Look at your choreography! Our choir teacher had to point me out to tell other people to have rhythm. It was truly outta control, lemme tell ya..... The awful choreography and the jazz hands and total lack of precision and the off key caterwauling (not from me, of course).
And the big tre scandale thing of that picture (which I did on purpose) was that the girls' skirt's slit was on the left. My partner on the right was posing where under normal circumstances her skirt would have draped down over her thigh. I, however, decided to pull the skirt as high as it would go at the exact instant they snapped the picture. The look on her face is the "omygawd, I don't believe you just did that!". She was one cool chick, though- and really got a kick out of the whole thing.
To understand how far up I had pulled her skirt, take a good look and you'll see the white strap of her thong-style panties in the groove of her thigh....
 OY!!

SHUT UP! It's only a 4 hour drive from me. We should totally do it, for reals. I haven't been in at least 5 years. PM me when you get back. I don't want to PM you now, I'll start making all kind of plans & reservations right this minute, and you haven't even left for THIS vaca! :o
Oh, and just for you:

Yes, I am the one in the royal blue dress. Yes, it really was 1992. Yes, the guys are wearing white tuxes. And yes, that's really my hair. And my eyebrows.
We should go in September. Not. Making. Plans. Broke already from Disney.
Love the dress. We have the same hair! I wish I had a few of my big hair pics scanned to show. Maybe someday.... My prom pics. I was the one in white. It was a lacy white dress, kinda had the hankerchief line, and a jacket to go with it... and bad hair.

^ No way you could pull August off? I already have the dates off from work, just no reservations to camp. It's 8/11 - 8/13 right now, but I may be able to change it to 8/18 - 8/20 or 21. If we did Sept, it would have to be9/15 - 9/17 or 18, but the kids would be back in school (we take our nieces with us every summer.)
Never mind! :p Have fun at Disney, we'll chat when you get back!

Sparky/Strand.
I hate you both so very much, and I'm still laughing.
Seeky - I know, was just kidding.
Sparky, since you incorporated "Two Kinds of Lame", you are officially the ringleader of the Diabolical Organization. Only the Devil could think that up.
Strand? - you'll be tried at Stevieberg as well. You will play Marlene Deitrich. sure, you didn't make up the thing, but you participated. Plus, you are the only one tall enough to play her. "Judgement at Strandenberg".
Nevertheless, this is a rhyme for the ages:

Hey, don't you go camping in Oregon sometimes? What am I saying, you could probably go camping anywhere you want. A good place I've been to is Patrick's Point (Eureka-ish) You camp on the beach, but then you face away from the ocean, walk some paces, and you are in a hike/rainforest. You're in a rainforest hike. So, it's beach/rainforest hike. There is a rainforest right by the beach!!! It's like heaven!!!
There are pits, too, (fire pits) at the sites (big!), and a bit of bathroom, but other than that you're on your own. It was so good. We went during Thanksgiving vacation. At night we cooked fish on the pit, drank, and stared at the waves. I foraged for firesticks, and hopped around a bit (it's pretty desolate, fun to run along the beach). It's very, very lovely. There could be a big camping/hiking party there, and no one would blink. Again, though, it is like a 30 minute drive to "town."
*wipes brow*
whew! I'm sorry, you just excited me about camping. Hey, you know burning man? There should be a burning Stevie. Except, knowing some fans, it would have to be Burning Stevie at the Wynn, or something. :p There probably won't be any "Stevie on the River" or "Burning Stevie". :(

My best friend is getting a tummy tuck on June 20th, and her boobs done (lift) on Sept. 19th. Both are because she has kids, though, otherwise she's actually in quite good shape. She's just my age. Okay, for the next three weeks she's a year older than me, but...;)

because Wel-Fare mart has a tendency to hire people who are so mentally incompetent that Wel-Fare Mart gets a tax break for supplying that person a job cause otherwise they would end up as a high school guidance counselor.
As for me, I always wonder "Jesus Titty F**king Christ, Why am I shopping here for...Oh yeah, They monopolized rural Oklahoma and killed all competition leavin' us no other option unless we drive 75+ miles one way to Norman for 1 package of 4 ply T.P.".

You're a better woman than I!! I guess I could have walked the woman through things, instead I stood there seething and wishing harm upon her :p
I did that for about 15 seconds until I could no longer stand it.
I have found cashiers and service people almost everywhere excessively slow and "I could give a ****ish" I mean - I know their jobs probably suck - but what the hell happened to customer service!?! I mean really, it's become non-existant here across the board
Probably because they are not paid fairly and receive almost no training. Bloody corporate America and its payscale.

Indeed I'm sure that's a huge pat of it. BUT I was taught to take pride in any job you do because it reflects on you. So be it cleaning toilets or cashiering somewhere I have always tried to at least be nice to people - I don't see that as much anymore. Like it's become totally acceptable for people in all industries to treat customers like crap.
Is it like this everywhere or are the people in Rochester just jerks?

I find it mostly at Walmart, to be honest. The cashiers talk to their friends while they're scanning your things, barely a "hi" let alone "how are you" or "did you find everything." Pisses me off. Half the time they just hold out their hand without telling me what the total is, so I stand there and stare at them until they do. And If I don't get a "have a nice day" I say "thanks, you too" anyway so they realize they should have said it.
I've heard people say it's becuse most of the cashiers at our Walmart are black so that's why they're rude. I can't believe people still think like that, let alone say it out loud. I always counter with "then how come everyone polite at the Target that's half a mile down the road?" Really, I don't know if Target is so much better than Walmart, but the employees there do seem happier and more helpful, so I have to assume they're trained, treated and paid better.
Wanna know what else is lame? When you hold the door for someone & they don't say thanks. I always say "you're welcome" just as sweet as can be, hoping they'll feel guilty for not thanking me. Or at least know that I know that they're ignorant. I also get reeeeeally upset when I let someone into traffic & they don't wave. WAVE you f*CKER! It's the right thing to do!

Oh that is way lame. YOu know what else is lame, when you follow someone through a door -and they totally slam it on your face.
There was a Frasier that addressed the holding the door with no thank you thing. It also addressed this:
Ok - you go to a store and stand in a long line to check out/ask a question. You finally get up to the front, but the phone rings and the person takes the call and helps the phone person. But YOU were there first AND you took the initiative to get your butt down to said store, so the people in person should be helped before the phone people.

when I worked in retail years back (Bill's Dollar Store) I had to work the cash register daily (Only male at our store was me, I was also the maintenance man, stocker/shipping clerk, builder, etc.) and I small talked with all customers, Asking 'em if they had a good day, asking their opinion about the weather and whatnot...Never had a complaint that I was rude to anyone.
Believe me, I only made $5.25 an hour (Much less than the $8 average WelFare Mart cashier makes) and I enjoyed my work & interacting with people.
What is really lame to me is what happened to rest of ya guys opening the door for a woman? What's a matter, too damn lazy to grab the door or something??? I KNOW! Shouldn't they tell the phone person to hold?!?!
Lame = Another cashier opens up their line & they say "I can help someone over here" and the guy with an overflowing cart who JUST got in line dashes over there ahead of the old lady who has 9 items in a little basket who's been in line for 10 minutes. Jerkass. I think they should find out who's NEXT (who's been waiting long) and tell them to come over.
Lame = You're heading for a register with 3 items, and someone shows up to that line & cuts in front of you at the same time with a full cart, 3 kids and food stamps. Listen, I have no problem with food stamps, or WIC or whatever, I've had several family members use them. But you know you're going to take longer, you know people are going to get stuck waiting. I ONLY HAVE 3 ITEMS! If I have a ton of stuff, or need a raincheck or something that I know will take longer, and there's someone behind me with only 2 or 3 things, I almost always offer to let them go ahead of me.

 I HATE HATE HATE that. Even when they say, "I can help the next person" the next person can rarely get there in time. I've seen a few instances where some ass lick tries to race over there - but the cashier actually waits for the "next person in line" ...thereby pissing off the guy who was being a dick in the first place  I love that.

Yes, this morning a very young guy did this for me! I was on my way to work and I cut through a hotel. He waited for me to get to the door, I was at least 20-30 ft back, far enough for it to have been polite for him to just keep going. It wouldn't have been a slam in the face and I wouldn't have cared. I do get very angry at rudeness. Well, I can't even tell you how flustered I felt when he went out of his way to be overly nice and hold it for me. There were 2 doors, he held both, and I nearly sprinted through the lobby so I could get the 2 exit doors for myself and not put him out. It was so weird. I wanted to say, "You're not from Boston, are you?" But I just said thank you, and then thank you again with a chuckle.
He had the blue-est eyes. Otherwise he was kind of dorky, but his eyes were dreamy.

DUH!
OK my latest pet peeve is the CD section at electronic and book stores. I went to my local Circuit City and they had one Tom Petty CD in the whole store. They had a million PINK CDs but only one Tom Petty. Then I get the bright idea to go down a few stores to Borders. Egads that was worst then Circuit City. First of all they had one long row of Pop/Rock CDs and they were all one big mess. I found 2 Tom Petty CDs and one looked as if it had been in a war zone. I would have thought that Borders would take more pride in their CD displays but it was obvious that they didn't give a rat's ass.

Yeah - it's a self service checkout thing - you scan it, bag it and then pay all by yourself. They're ridiculously easy - as, like I said, they have printed instructions every step of the way, and many of them also speak the commands. They are quirky though - but I maintain that if you don't know how to use one - don't (at least not when there's any sort of line) That's like begging people to throw fruit at you.

wait. so you mean there are so many different kinds of organic food you can fill up an ENTIRE STORE with them??? no way!!
actually, we do have a couple all-organic grocery stores ... wait, that's totally a lie. we have grocery stores that have a "large selection of all-natural and organic products," but no organic stores. and even those i mentioned are, like, way far away. i can only think of one that's within an hour of here, and when you go, it's like, totally a "thing."
so wait, "bags"? i have those under my eyes, but you can't put groceries in them ...
Cucumbers you can.
An hour?! That is a "thing". I have two about 6 blocks from me. But then, I have to live in a crappy city to get that.
Hey, do you guys have the organic delivery people? I think there are a couple here. You get a box of in season fruits and veggies, locally grown, for a certain price every week?
My neighbors always have those.

i'd rather live in the city than in the suburbs. cities can be loud/crowded/etc, but suburbs can be soulless, and that's worse. we have no delivery people, and the problem with basing a business on locally grown produce is that you can only harvest **** around here for about 4 months ... late july - early november, and even then your choices are limited. most of our good stuff (citrus, avocados, etc) comes from out of state and can get pretty expensive.

That is true. I feel really lucky. It's supposed to be good for you to eat the seasonal fruits/veggies of your area, though. Whatever.
Also, though, between the "suburb" (suck) and the "city" (different kind of suck) there is the "small town", or the "small college town" which are the best, really.

is there some reason it's supposed to be particularly healthy to eat local produce?
i actually live in a small college town, which is bearable, but i'm surrounded by miles and miles of straight-up suburbs, so getting to anything worthwhile outside of my town is an interesting trip through "the american dream."

it's not really a college town the way most people think of college towns ... it's a town of about 50,000, and 30,000 of those are students. it's hard to explain kent. i don't hate it, but i've lived here for 15 years, so i kind of feel done here. i'm a townie for sure, but i've never been a part of the townie crowd (i'm not a big drinker and i don't like to smoke pot, so ...), so i don't have that, and almost all my friends moved away, so it sucks. it's lonely here. and as for ohio in general - i like it, i guess, (we have a lot of cows  ) but i've lived here my whole life. ohio can be pretty, but the culture and climate suck. blahblahblah, i'm totally rambling now.

Maybe you should move? Aren't you really young to be "over it"? I thought you were 21 or something. Wait, the whole townie crowd drinks and smokes pot? Does that mean everyone? That's kind of like here. Or, anywhere, apparently.
It's good you don't smoke, if you did, your chips and salsa habit would escalate dangerously. You'd sell off your possessions just to get that next hit of salsa....:distress: Conversely, your enjoyment of South Park would escalate to record highs, which is a plus.

If their chips are okay, that doesn't sound too bad. Is it salsa fresca, or the runny liquid salsa? I don't like cilantro much, actually, but they all put it in. My mom used to make homeade salsa that was really good, but no cilantro, more of a garlicky/salt base.
Seriously, we have to stop. I'll stop. I'm not talking about food any more in this thread.

Maybe! Those U-Scans are cantankerous. "Please put the item in the bag!" "Please scan your next item!" I don't like being bossed around that much!
 me neither, but when every line in the store is packed, I go for the U-scan, and especially when I only have like 10 or less items to buy.
I went grocery shopping with two of my lamebrained friends last summer and they went through a U-scan with like 50 items!. They were allowed because it wasn't a 15 items or less issue, but scanning 50 items yourself and bagging them takes forever, especially when you have a lot of produce and don't know the codes. I was rolling my eyes the whole time, I was thinking, we're never gonna get to the beach, thanks a lot boneheads .

SHUT UP! It's only a 4 hour drive from me. We should totally do it, for reals. I haven't been in at least 5 years. PM me when you get back. I don't want to PM you now, I'll start making all kind of plans & reservations right this minute, and you haven't even left for THIS vaca!
Oh, and just for you:

Yes, I am the one in the royal blue dress. Yes, it really was 1992. Yes, the guys are wearing white tuxes. And yes, that's really my hair. And my eyebrows. :o :) :( :distress:
Someone else was looking at this thread, which made me look at this thread, and I become nostalgic, in that this is the funniest thread EVER for the first 10 pages or so. If you have not seen it, you must. If you have not seen it in awhile, you must re-peruse it. You will not be disappointed. The Tower/Sparky/Paula/Strand/Me/Everyone quip/lyrics substitute machine was in peak performance this night. It was all so good and fun.
And of course, in the spirit of manking pics from my parents, and bad 80's formal dresses, I have to show my solidarity with Paula, here, and unveil...The Monster!!!
Member, at 8th grade graduation, when you were trying to be hot, inexplicably, totally ignoring that you were wearing a big pink scrunchie? Member? Sadly, Paula's blue full length scrunchie was so much better. Which is basically like saying dog crap smells slightly better than cat crap. I recall that I only had a certain low budget for my dress, and obtained it at the last minute, from a town with no stores. But still, excuses can't really justify this. I should have gone shopping with Paula. In 1992. This dress was in 1988. *shudder* The bottom gets worse, it was one of those poofy multirufflelayered Stevie fat looking styles. Like, I have a big ass, let me put some poofy ruffles over it!!! And yes, I wore white patterned tights.

Okay, I totally have a PM for you, but must respond here first, cause it is more fun.
It's weird, but I actually exactly thought what you just said. About Stevie. then I scoffed at myself, but still. I was thinking my bow-like upturned lip somehow reminded me of Stevie. Also, I guess my face was thinner than it later turned out to be, and stevie has a skinny face. Still, though.
Yes, not the dress, Stevie's would be black. You know, during Tango?
Seriously, though, you are freaking me out. Because obviously, in general, I have few Stevie qualities. The fact that I thought that, then you posted what I thought, when it probably isn't even true, is odd. ODD, I TELLS YA!
Yeah, I know it was you looking at the thread. Thank you! This thread is so great. :woohoo:

 that is odd. yeah, it's the lip thing, and at that angle, your nose looks like hers at that angle. and of course, the long featheryish hair completes it.
Yeah, I know it was you looking at the thread. Thank you! This thread is so great. :woohoo:
what's also funny is that i was going to bring this thread back up again, but you beat me to it. is it wrong that i'm ledge-ing in two windows? one reading that thread, and one reading current threads? :o :distress:

No, that is not wrong, I do that.
Also, yeah, you're right, I do have an upturned nose from the side. Doesn't look like Stevie's from the front, it just looks like Italian fat nose, but the side...different story.
It's all too weird. Like my friend would say, "It was so cosmic, this beautiful vanilla sister, blah blah blah everything is cosmic, blah"
I'm still freaked out, though, I have a lot of this psychic concordence go on locally, but across the country is more rare. Except when paula gets up earlier than me and says stuff I was gonna just say.
Sweet! :wavey:
You have to acknowledge that my dress is tragic. Wait, you haven't seen the bottom fat girl ruffles, but trust. It's Stevie in her worse fatleg ruffle layered dress, but not black. And no one should wear white pattern tights with a pink ruffly dress over the age of 6. Again, I think my budget was less than $50, and boughten the night before.
I guess I shouldn't be suprised, you have been my weird doppleganger. Perhaps Cancers are not only as psychic as their rep, but also more predictable than previously thought (they've been thought to be unpredictable due to their moodiness. I didn't make that up, I'm just reporting)
*astrological dork-out over*
