Wow. What a weekend! Where to begin. Well, the reason (as if ya'll didn't already know. LOL) for my going up there was to go to a party that Justin Guarini would be attending. It was an event to raise funds for a movie Justin will be in, playing a doctor. Mafioso II: The Son produced by Sal Mazzotta. He is a very nice guy. Justin sang some songs (Brown-Eyed Girl, Soul Man, Unchained Melody, Get Ready, Mony Mony), signed autographs, posed for pics, mingled, danced with fans and his mom...and just had a blast. He is amazing. Can't say it enough. His next album should be out at the end of the summer with a single or two out very soon. He signed my CD cover for his jazz album and a picture of the two of us from Beaumont. I'll try to get a picture of those two things and post them. I hugged him and got a couple of pictures with him. His parents are two of the nicest, kindest people I've ever met. I had not had a chance to talk to his step-dad all night, but when we went to leave, he turned around and hugged me and said "Thank you so much for coming! We appreciate you all." Awww! I got a pic with Justin's mom too. It was one of the most fun nights of my life.
Over the next couple of days, me and some other ladies from the Justin board saw some great sites, including the Museum of Art (where the infamous Rocky steps are located), the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, took the trolley around town, shopped at the Reading Terminal Market, went to Penn's Landing, saw Chinatown, the Betsy Ross home, ate at the historic City Tavern and saw the house where they filmed some of the Sixth Sense. Philly is an amazingly gorgeous city, with beautiful landscaping and the houses are wonderful. City Hall literally made me gasp when I first saw it...the architecture is spectacular! We ate Genos cheesesteaks too. Shopped at The Bourse and at a great lil craft/arts/jewelry fair near South Street. I developed a crush on one of our trolley guides....who eerily reminded me of Lindsey. I wish I got a picture of him, but ah well...maybe in September when I go back up there for the Justin concert.
Most certainly, a weekend I'll never forget. :)
