Nice thing about posting here is that I don't need to explain how "the guitar is made by a guy in california in his shop for lindsey buckingham is that guy from that band that wrote that record rumours that sold allot of albums and had that girl stevie nicks in it who isn't a witch/has supernatual powers"

:p

The guitar is amazing, I got it from e-bay about a month ago, and didn't end up posting pictures till now. Horrible I know! It came out to be around $2350 CDN dollars, which actually is an amazing price as from Rick it would have cost almost twice that. It doesn't have the Piezo nor the special binding, but has everything you need active eq etc. The finish looks stunning in person and the playability is unsurpassed. My friends (who are amazing guitarists) were pretty awed that I went out and purchased a guitar worth in some cases more than their cars lol, but it was somewhat impulse and something I don't regret at all.

There is a sick little bit of me that wishes it was the Lindsey Tusk Tour Lighter Wood Finish, but meh, its still supremely sexy.

It plays brilliant, and way beyond my talent level (which is pretty much negligable). I got a Boss ME-50 to go with it and a Peavy Classic 30. I am trying to pick up some good Fleetwood Mac Guitar books. I have a pack of Regular Slinkeys which I think I will throw on here.

So all you Turner Playing Ledgies, expect thousands of questions from this huge noob. :-)

Pictures don't really do it justice lol, these are just some randoms I took.

absolutely beautiful!

I attended Rick's presentation several weeks ago on mandoli at the Museum of Making Music in Carlsdbad. He put on a great show & even played several folk songs. He's quite good--I had no idea.

He even signed my program!

Congrats on being a new parent to an M1!

The finish you have on yours looks a lot like mine.

And...are you SURE  you want to deface it by using Regular Slinkys?

Owning a Turner M1 is anything BUT "Regular".

Welcome to the M1 Club my friend, and a very exclusive club it is.
hope you have many a fine years with your guitar.
The finish on yours is slightly similar to mine. Between here and on ricks own forum you will have all the help and assistance you will ever need.

With as slow as it has been over on the Turner/Renaissance site, HERE would probably be the place to post M1 questions/comments. I don't think Rick even goes to his own site anymore. That place is so dead that you can actually hear the crickets chirping when you log in. :D

Thanks for all the compliments and support.

Its kinda funny because I remember that there was a point in time where I wanted to go down to Las Vegas (not actually that far from Calgary, you can get down there in two days), to see one of these guitars in Ed Romans shop. I think it coming to me is a much better idea though :-)

I have been checking Rick Turners site for a while now, and your very right, it is a pretty deserted place.

Any ideas on a good kind of strings to put on here? I remember reading somewhere that Lindsey uses Regular Slinkys, but if there are better strings that are more suitable to the instrument I would rather take those. I hear those Thomastik (sp) 11 Guage strings really do the guitar good justice but the guage seems a little too thick.

This guitar is awesome to play, but is also somewhat frustrating, I find sometimes that I spend allot of time playing with the knobs to get the kinda of sound I want. It takes a while because there are about 5 different variables to work with.

I am not to sure why I bought the effects processor even though its a good boss unit. This guitar sounds best when just through the amp.

I only have a strat but I've used a gauge 11 for the high E before and I actually found it very good, suprisingly. I just ahve the 10-46 Ernie Ball regular slinkys now. Strings are expensive here in the UK. I paid £15 for some high tension loop nylon strings and a pack of regular slinkys.

I'm so Jelous of all you M1 owners, have you got any recordings of them in action?

Whilst we are on the subject of Turners how much (min-max) would a RN6 set me back here in england?

Well Tom would you believe i stole a RS6 lefty for $400 on ebay about 6 months ago. that was roughly £240 at the time + 60 P+P = £300 and it was in perfect condition.
So if you can beat that i'll buy it for you myself.

Hard to get here second hand in the UK. Ian Morton is man to talk to though.
roughly £1400 new

Actually, the .011s aren't all that difficult to get used to (as I originally feared, as well). But, finding the Tomastik-Infeld brand & correct gauge was a big chore. Took me about a week or so to get the strength in my fingers built up to be able to bend those .011s like I wanted. I still use Super Slinkys (.009s) on my Strat.

In fact, now, I've built up to where I'm using .012s on my M1 now. (I bend a lot, and in the 7-1/2 years I've had my M1, the grooves in the nut had widened to where this past February, I had to switch to larger gauge of strings.) I do have to watch out when I'm playing the lower strings because with the bigger gauged strings, I start tip-toeing into the bass' upper sonic range. Those bigger strings just roar, though...really cut through a three-guitar, bass, drums mix when need be.

I don't recall the brand of strings I'm using, I got so many different ones when I went to the NAMM show in January, I don't remember which were the ones I put on the acoustic and which I put on the M1.

I still pretty much ritually use the aforementioned Super Slinkys exclusively on the Strat. (I tried Fender's Super Bullets and didn't like 'em at all, so I've gotten kind of OCD-like in my use of the Ernie Balls on the Strat over the years).
