Nice!! Thanks for posting this info. I recently bought the CD whilst on a music shopping spree. Excellent super-band, albeit short-lived. Those dang drum/bass solos of the day... don't miss those much.

WHat was their biggest hit? I've heard of them but not much more than that.

WHat was their biggest hit? I've heard of them but not much more than that.
As mentioned, the band was short lived (early 70's- one album I think) but they did: Had to Cry Today- and I think Clapton did his first recording of Presence of The Lord.
The original album cover created quite a stir as it had a somewhat pre-pubescent girl- topless on the cover.

Tho I'm not so sure it ever made it to Billboard 100, their most popular song may have been "Can't Find My Way Home" with Steve Winwood on vocals. Ric Grech was on bass, Eric Clapton on guitar and Ginger Baker on drums. And they did only do one album which was released in 1969. These guys were or had been in other groups and formed BF as kind of a side project. Lyrics to Can't Find below and album cover(s) attached.
It's a very haunting melody and vocals.
Come down off your throne and leave your body alone.
Somebody must change.
You are the reason I've been waiting so long.
Somebody holds the key.
But I'm near the end and I just ain't got the time
And I'm wasted and I can't find my way home. (this was always our favorite line which we would sing at the top of our lungs)
Come down on your own and leave your body alone.
Somebody must change.
You are the reason I've been waiting all these years.
Somebody holds the key.
Chorus
But I can't find my way home.
But I can't find my way home.
But I can't find my way home.
But I can't find my way home.
Still I can't find my way home,
And I ain't done nothing wrong,
But I can't find my way home.

Me and my mom used to love listening to "Sea of Joy"- great atmospheric song with haunting violins:
Following the shadows of the skies,
Or are they only figments of my eyes?
And I'm feeling close to when the race is run.
Waiting in our boats to set sail.
Sea of joy.
Once the door swings open into space,
And I'm already waiting in disguise.
Is it just a thorn between my eyes?
Waiting in our boats to set sail.
Sea of joy.
Having trouble coming through,
Through this concrete blocks my view
And it's all because of you.
Oh, is it just a thorn between my eyes?
Waiting in our boats to set sail.
Sea of joy.
Sea of joy.
Sea of joy.
Sailing free.
Sea of joy.
Apparently a favorite of my mom's in her hippie drugged out days ;) Good song.

Is it just me or does anyone else see lyrics to old songs and wonder if Stevie heard it, loved it and used some words for inspiration...
race is run
thorn between my eyes (in her case, thorn in your side)
hmm...

I've heard it's not a great gig, but I'm a fan of all four guys. (RG is the most underrated, which is understandable. But, he was almost the first bassist Fleetwood Mac ever had! I LOVE RG's work with Gram Parsons.)
