I thought this would be fun since some of us have been there fairly recently. My personal favorite is Bellagio, although I dont know if I oculd ever afford to stay there. The flower atrium is unbelieveable! Here are some tohers on my top list:
Wynn Las Vegas
Mandalay Bay
Paris
The Venetian

The Flamingo was a prety nice place to stay, considering it's pretty old and relatively inexpensive. The pools were fabulous.
To hang out in/gamble/look at:

I stayed at the Bellagio a couple months after it opened. It remains the best hotel I've ever stayed at. The bed was amazing and the shower sprayed from in front and behind. We got a free upgrade to a room with a great view of the dancing water. Not sure if they still do that.
I also enjoyed staying at Caesar's. We stayed in the old part of the hotel and the room had a classic 50's feel to it.

The best meal I had was a seafood buffet at the Rio Suites. This was in '98.

The Bellagio was great, but I have to say the service in the restaurants was pathetic.
I stayed at The Imperial Palace the last time. It was clean and cheap - like $75 a night. So, if that is your goal, the IP is your place.

I've only stayed in one place, but from visiting a bunch of them, I really want to stay at the Luxor. It had the prettiest theme/decoration/whatever to me. It wasn't as gaudy as the others because it is sand/beige/black color themed (Egypt, the pyramids, and all that). I thought it was beautiful. And they have spa services, so that is fine. I thought NY, NY had it's charms as well.
"Located at the south end of the Strip, the Luxor prides itself on offering all the luxuries -- excellent restaurants, renowned entertainment and amazing attractions -- that a pharaoh could want.
Perhaps no other hotel in the world has as grand and mystical an air as the Luxor. Contained in a 30-story black glass pyramid and a pair of stepped-pyramid towers is all the splendor of ancient Egypt and all the technological wonders of the modern world, paired with the no-holds-barred showmanship that made Vegas an adjective.
The Luxor incorporates so many amenities that it's almost an entire vacation in itself. The spacious rooms are decorated in Eastern finery and surround the world's largest atrium. The Oasis Spa is one of the best of its kind, located in the Luxor's cool and verdant pool area. Dining choices run from Chinese specialties at Fusia to the gourmet delights of Luxor Steakhouse. The RA nightclub features world-class DJs, a packed dance floor and hedonistic atmosphere worthy of its sun god namesake.
The attractions floor is an exciting testing ground for cutting-edge film and ride technology, featuring a motion simulator, a two-story video arcade and the spectacular IMAX Theatre, with its giant screen (68 feet tall by 48 feet wide) and 15,000-watt digital sound system. Following the Luxor theme, there also is a re-creation of King Tut's Tomb.
Let's not forget entertainment. Luxor hosts the topless show Fantasy. And the casino, at more than 100,000 square feet, is one of Vegas' largest.
This fully encompassing environment demands amazement, and few have walked away without according it. With modern marvels married to the ancient sedate majesty of Egypt's City of the Living, Luxor fully deserves its self-appointed title as "The Newest Wonder Of The World."

I just came back from my stay at the Bellagio and I agree, the beds are phenomenal. The bathroom was gorgeous and it just felt luxurious. Although Strand is right, the service in the restaurants leave much to be desired.
NYNY is really fun, but I just got back from the real thing and I must say, there's no comparison.
I think I'd like to stay at the Venetian at some point just because its so pretty. I'll be staying at Wynn on business next week, and I'm flipping out, I'm so exited!!! I imagine the rooms are nice.

Damn you and your fabulous f*cking job!!! How'd New York go? Everything worked out, right?
How come no one else noticed how awesome the Luxor is? It's a pyramid, hello? :p And, it doesn't have gaudy colors everywhere! C'mon, people!

Luxor is the first place I ever stayed in Vegas and it was awesome. Lots to do in the hotel, really nice rooms, but the bathroom was a freakin' palace!!!! I could've just slept in there. The only downside to the Luxor is that its near the end of the strip so you only have one way to go. I like being in the middle because you can go any which way and find drinky smokey fun.
NY went really well, so I'm feeling more confident about the Vegas buying trip. I have a tendancy to psyche myself out about these things.

Apparently. Don't psych yourself out. I tend to psych myself up. Like, "this is how it could be great, and this is what I'll do to make it great, and if I think about problems, I'll get so nervous that I won't function, therefore I won't think about them"
But if you can make it in NY, bayby, you can make it anywhere!
So, you love the Luxor, it's just the distance. Whew! I was beginning to think I was the only one with good (or bad?) taste... I think I like it extra because Vegas is so gaudy in general that it seems peaceful and deep in the Luxor. I do understand about wanting to be in the center, though. What I really want to do is the spa stuff in the Luxor (or anywhere). Have you done spa things?
I can't believe the whole time I was growing up no one ever told me that it could be my job to design and buy jewelry.
You know what I've been doing that looks really good? I started like, 4 years ago, though.
I take tank tops, and cut off their straps, and make really pretty straps out of beads. It seems so obvious, but I rarely see it. It combines my love of jewelry and tank tops very nicely. Also my bead "skill". The best part is that you can make all kinds of crazy cool shapes with the straps.

Holy crap, the bead tank is a f*cking brilliant idea!! Alright, screw school and set up "Amber's Attic", your funky fun clothing/jewellery store where you signature t's make you millions. And then you can LIVE in the Luxor!! Seriously, do it, DO IT NOW!!! I'll invest!
Aw, but Victoria's Secret started featuring bra tanks with beads on them in the last couple years. My straps are better, though.
I was thinking about some stuff, I don't really know how to get it out. Ebay? :p
Thanks, though, that's nice. It looks really sexy, too, especially with the right beads. I picked these gold centered ones for the main beads in this one thing, looked really good. The gold was just in the center, and the outside of the bead was clear, so it didn't look cheesy gold, it looked really nice with tan skin. I mixed that with various types of brown/beige beads (the tanktop has a black, brown, beige pattern).
Blah, blah. It is a good idea, though.
F*ck the Luxor, I'm living in the Caymens!!!! :D

Alright, just give up on Amber's Attic, I understand. But hey, I could be your first sale! What kind of beads would you recommend for a woman with pale skin and red hair? Oh and I'd want a black tank. Bead colour suggestions?
Blue or brown eyes? brown, if I remember. Well, obviously you can wear more than a few colors. So I'd ask you what you like. Black tanks can look really sexy on pale skin, with black beads. Special black beads. Interspersed with others, possibly.
I, personally, tend to like black on black, but I'd do something to the person's taste. And also, even if I did black on black, there would be some other quality to make it stand out. I love black and black tank tops, too (my hair is really dark, black looks good on me) so what I did was find some crystalline black beads, but I did a really cool strappy shape with them and the tank top. Cross before your neck, at your collarbones. Then cross in back again?
It's better if I see the person. I tend to like fairly simple designs, I don't like to add too much color and pattern unless it can really hold - because IMO, most people look more beautiful with simple but distinctive designs. Shape is key. The people I would recommend more color for are blondes with very nice skin, blue eyes, and African American people, who could have more pattern and brighter colors look good. Also, dark or red haired people with pale skin (you) are the perfect pallette for black, black, black, with awesome shapes.
The thing with beads instead of regular straps is that you can shape the straps how you want, and that the beads sparkle, and hang gracefully, which adds an extra dimension. For your black tank, I would probably find some really nice black beads, and then intersperse them evenly with some other chosen color, if you wanted. But, imagine, even if your straps were only made of jet beads, or hematite, there would be a lustre and shine that would be beautiful but subtle. Especially if there was an oustanding shape.
Sorry, blah blah. Maybe I should make a black one and see if you like it. I have a lot of brown/gold motif in my bead stash these days, though.

See, look at all the great design sensibilities you have! You know your ****, girl! Btw, the eyes are hazel some days, brown on others...I have those weird colour change eyes.
I like the idea of simple straps but with a dangly thinger stuff down the back with jet and hematite. Maybe a little deep blue. How much would you charge? Oh, and I 'd need a long tank - I'm tall and long through the torso and I wear low rise jeans. I'm starting to get exited about the possibility of a tank.
Hey, my eyes are hazel, too! (green/brown).
Well, charge, I don't know about that. I'd love to do one for you, but I'm thinking, couldn't you just do one for yourself? But if not - dangly down the back - nice, I haven't done one like that, yet. Deep blue...those beads are expensive, I have to say. I mean, depends on which ones. You can get glass ones for cheap, or crystally ones for medium, or if you get the naturally ones, those are most expensive.
Ideally, I would get a tank top from you that you liked, then go from there. :)
Honestly, it's pretty easy.

Okay, when I find a long black tank I like, I'll send it to you, if that's alright with you. I'm sure I could do it myself, but I prolly never will and besides, I'd much more appreciate your artistic touch. If the blue is really $$$ then I'd stick with black variations.
I really do think you should market this, you could add so much more of an interesting and personal touch than Victoria's Secret could ever do. Trust me, there's a HUGE market in custom design.
Okay, sounds good. And they're not that expesive, you know, it's like...I'd need, say, 18 blue beads, and they're 60 cents each...something like that.
Is there really a huge market? I'm sure you're right, but I'm thinking that market can be hard to break into. You have to be all cool and connected.
God, some designer who lives in LA is probably reading this right now and going,
"hmmm, tank tops with bead straps, I'll do it!!!"
But can you imagine how pretty all the girls would look if their little strappy Oscar gowns had beads for straps instead? With awesome unusual shapes? I mean, the ones who wear strappy gowns.
It seems so simple and obvious, it's hard to believe it isn't out there, and I just haven"t seen it.

I came up with a shoe design once...but I am pretty sure someone came up with a simlar idea...so there went a mil at least. The idea was to have various type soles, with little thread holes along the base in various places, dependent upon design, which you could then thread through various straps in various sizes, shapes and materials to create your very own shoes in your very own style.
Question was, could one walk? Who cares!? They would look F'in HOT and that is the whole point!
That sounds like a good idea, too. Especially for summer shoes. I mean, that is what I would want. People are always making cool shoes with straps, but a lot of times I could use more straps, or straps in different places. And then, if you could interchange all the colors of the straps, they would be cool for lots of outfits. I would totally buy that. But it would have to have a toe/thong loop...for me. But lots of people would be fine if they were just sandals.

Amber, my daughter and I stayed 2 nights and 3 days at the Luxor when Stevie was in town. We loved the whole idea of the Egyptian theme too and spend quite a bit of time just walking around inside of the pyramid. But... 1 night and 1 day would have been fine. There are rumours about the "energy" in that place and it isn't always good. By the time we left, we were way more than ready to leave. We kept getting lost in there. It's very dark, darker than most casino/hotels and very echoey. It was somewhat irritating, for lack of a better word. They do have a few exceptionally fabulous stores with some unique and unusual metaphysical type things that were very high priced. The spa and pool didn't look like anything out of the ordinary. But I'm with you, I'd love to do a spa experience, but it better be all marble, mirrors and brass. We didn't do any spa activities but we did go look. It looked like the lobby of any old spa in your nearest downtown area... a regular salon store front and nothing like you see on Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. It is on the very south end of the strip, right next to Mandalay Bay and Excalibur. NYNY and MGM are across the street. Isis and Fusion are two high class restaurants at the Luxor that we never ate at because we were always too busy to make reservations. We ate at the Mandalay buffet because the food, especially the desert bar, was way better than Luxor buffet. There's no public transportation to the north end of the strip either, but there is some kind of monorail that will take you back and forth between Excalibur, Mandalay and Luxor. It's a good idea after awhile because as you know each casino is 4 blocks long!
Never got to see the Venetian, Treasure Island or NYNY. It's incredibly amazing how fast the time goes when you're in Vegas. And how many miles you can put on your sneakers in just one or two days.
