Any Hunt For Red October fans?
Film, that is. We watched it in World History and not to my surprise, I became so bored I spaced out the entire movie. Now I have this 30 question packet to fill out on the film, and I don't know a thing! I wouldn't be stressing over it if I didn't know that not doing this could take my A to a B. It's worth that many points. So if anyone knows a great deal about this film, I'd appreciate it if you'd post, and I'll type out the questions. I won't do them all though, just enough to get a decent grade. lol. I know it's cheating...but hey it's the first time I've done this all year! lol. So please...anyone?

I would help you if I'd seen it, but I'm wondering - Can't you just go rent it again?

If that comment is in reference to me...which it clearly seems to be, I just want you to know that I am a STRAIGHT A student, and this is the first time I've ever done something like this with an assignment. Just because I ask for help on one paper does not make me a slacker. Not that you care about any of this, but I just had to get that out there because that did offend me.

School can suck it, by the way.
I was in high school, many moons ago...Before the internet (Yes, there was a time when us ol' fogies had to search out books in a library for research.)
In high school English Literature class we had to read Samuel Taylor Coleridge's epic tale "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" and then take a test/quiz afterwards...Can you say 'snoozeville'?
I hate any/all English literature (I had an "A-" grade in English lit, but it bores me to the point of braindamage...Well, I shouldnt say braindamage ya know  ) so being the prepared durn-fool idgit that I am, and knowing how it is to get me to read literature is like getting me to enjoy Mick Fleetwood's vest-solo while having my wisdom teeth pulled by a dentist with a severe depth perception disorder, I cheated and remebered the lyrics to the heavy metal band Iron Maiden's classic song "Rime of the Ancient Mariner", which of course, is based off the epic Coleridge piece. (Helped being that I was a diehard Maiden fan so I knew the lyrics for the whole damn 13+ minute song in advance.)
Didnt do bad, I received a "B+" on that quiz/test and saved my braincells for later damage which reading lit would have annihilated.

1. Sean Connery's hairpiece cost $3,500,000
2. The submarine models were filmed in a giant vat of blue jello.
3. No, a 35,000 ton submarine cannot turn around an underwater seamount like that.
4. Alec Baldwin didn't suck in this movie.
5. Nothing in this movie happened in real life, so they shouldn't have shown it in history class.
6. The storyline revolves around long, hard, seaman-filled objects blundering around in the dark.
7. The Soviet national anthem is awesome. Really, really awesome.
8. Everyone who has never seen "Das Boot" agrees that it's the greatest submarine movie of all time.
9. Yes, the control room of the Red October really is a chrome-plated basketball court.
10. Filming was delayed for several days when Stellan Skarsgård started eating the sets.
11. James Earl Jones is awesome. Really, really awesome.
12. Most Lithuanians don't have Scottish accents.
13. Scott Glenn can crush walnuts between his asscheeks.
I think pretty that much covers all the grounds.
Now you'll know the difference between an A student and a B student.
:sorry:
 I love you for that!
Imagine the horror of actually having to push oneself (though I hardly consider the above example of watching a movie "pushing") to get the better grade.
I guess this is my inner nerd coming out in me, but this stuff angers me greatly even if it is a one-time thing. IMO, an "A" without the integrity is not a true "A." It's very unfair to those who actually do the work.
No "sorry emoticon" from me,
Brad

Oh, please - this is hardly what one could call slacking. I'm a top-notch slacker. I could practically make a career out of slacking in school. And believe me, this is very, very little in terms of laziness.
School absolutely bores me to tears. I spend my time in school too focused on other things, like drawing. I'm not proud of it, but I'm just not good at academic stuff, and since I suck at it, it doesn't interest me. So I try to get the gist of what we're learning, and I occupy myself with something else. I've learned that if I get way too into trying to understand what I'm supposed to be learning, I don't get it at all. I want to go to art school, anyway. I'd rather have a killer portfolio than a good GPA. I'm not too worried.
Anyway. School blows donkeys. =P

hahahaha. I have sympathy, but only in the broadest "I, too, am a slacker" way.
But if my assignment was to watch movies and answer questions, I wouldn't be a slacker, because that is so easy as to be laughable (like you said). Also, I never cheat, and always readily admit that I slacked, and always take the consequences, which are usually a B instead of an A. Sometimes I make/have excuses to gain myself time, but that is the extent of it. Also I feel vindicated because when I do things, I usually have fairly high standards for myself, and do the very best I can within the time I've allotted (the time I alot is usually the main slacker problem).
However - the girl says this is an anomoly, so I wouldn't be too hard on her. Besides, what kind of dumb assignment is it to watch a movie and answer questions about it?
It's okay, Amber, just don't do it again!!!
Add me to some kind of slacker nerd club. You know, the kids who have the luxury to wait until the last minute?

I'd have more respect for you if you hadn't come on advertising that you were an A student who couldn't be bothered because the subject didn't interest you, so decided to cheat because you couldn't bear for your A to go down to a B. If you cheat you don't deserve an A in my opinion. The amount of time you wasted logging onto the computer to ask people to give you the run down of the movie, you could have spent sitting through it. In life we all have to do things we don't like. You chose not to pay attention, and then chose not to make up for it by renting the movie. If you get a lower average it may teach you that you can either say "The hell with it, I'm OK with a B" or "I can't believe I gave up my B just because I couldn't sit through a movie". It only get's more challenging, believe me. If you can't sit through a movie and fill in some questions as you watch, you are sure to be kissing that A average goodbye sooner or later anyway.

Hear hear. If you're gonna slack off and get a B, at least own it rather than pout about it.
I took a class a few years ago about the history of eastern Germany since 1989, and part of the grade involved signing into the website set up for the class, watching some video testimony of former Easterners, and answering a few really basic questions about it. There were maybe five of these assignments, and I thought the whole thing seemed like such stupid bull****, I never bothered to do any of them, though I did everything else, and turned in some great papers. Basically, I was perfect in every other aspect of the class and the professor liked me, so I figured he'd cut me some slack for not doing the silly "busy work." He didn't, and I got a B or B+. Oh well. My fault.

Yeah, I agree with you Brad. I've had A's, and some F's too in my life, but I owned them. I don't get angry, but like my response to equeen I think if someone came on here and said "Hey, I have a D average and I won't get to graduate unless I get a C", I would probably be more understanding, if that makes any sense. The original post came across as being very spoiled. If the A average was so important in the first place, the simple task of watching a movie should have been a piece of cake.

As a recent college graduate and a (very) soon to be graduate student, I have to be included into the nerd club. To me, if this assignment is important enough to change a letter grade (though I can't imagine why- unless the instructor is trying to help out students with lower averages) then it would seem important enough to sit through and do the work yourself.
Unfotunately, I had to make it through classes that seemed to have zero relevance to what I was majoring in, or even relevance to the real world. But
I did the work myself, and any crappy grades I received were my own fault.
This is not a slam on you, equeen. It's just that for some of us, school, grades, a degree were all very hard won. And it just gets harder and harder. Good luck.

...If I knew I would get so much negative response from this thread, believe me, I would never have posted. And I was never looking for "sympathy" as I read in one's post. I respect everyone on here, and don't want any conflict.
I'll admit, "cheating" is wrong. I should have just paid close attention to the film instead of staring at the screen and having the words go right in one ear and out the other.
The original post came across as being very spoiled
And spoiled, I am not. My intentions were never to come across that way. I never wanted to be percieved as a cheater either. Many of you are judging me way too closely from this one thread, and a "spoiled cheater" is not how I want to come across.
