View Full Version : Ann Wilson's Sexuality

I just wonder why she’s quiet and uncomfortable with it? Oh gee, like we were all born yesterday! Her last relationship with a man was that Fisher boy in the 70s. She adopted kids in the 90s!
HELLO, looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, its a duck. I for one second do not believe at all that Ann Wilson is %100 heterosexual, in fact I think she’s a %100 lesbian! In fact Ive heard over the years her female manager is possessive and a lesbian from 1st hand sources. Ive always wondered if Ann's manager is more than just that. It just really saddens me that in 2006 Ann can not jump on the Rosie O’Donnell bandwagon and be a great role model that she is to the rest of the world!
PLEASE post away!

i have no opinion on whether or not ann wilson is gay, but i firmly believe that celebrities have no responsibility to anyone to announce their sexuality one way or the other - just like the rest of us. what rosie and ellen did is great if that's what makes them happy, but when you announce to the universe that you're gay, you run the risk of being defined by your sexuality first, and that's a hard road to walk. maybe ann just wants to be seen as an artist.

Ditto. Does it really matter if she does guys or girls? What matters [to me, anyway] is that she's an awesome musician.

She's talented, and made the most amazing cheesy 80s music ever. The end.

She is gay. Their make up artist in the 80's (Tracey Pucci) told me she was. But I don't care one way or another, she's a great singer and performer and she's HOT!!!!!! :xoxo: for Ann!!!!!

That's actually cool, now if I ever see them I'll flirt with her. She won't be able to resist my charms, I know it!!!!
Wait, I'm not a lezzy bean. I guess to her, I'll just be a tease....
Anyway, Mageboy - it would be nice if she came out, but I don't think less of her for not doing so. It's like Stevie and political things - I mainly just want to hear both of them sing, that is why I love them. Any further stands they take about cool things are icing on the cake.
It's nice to know she hasn't been alone all these years, though. I was kind of wondering, "can she not have a boyfriend because she is so big? Is she lonely? " But even that seemed strange, because she is still Ann Wilson, and someone would date her. But now it's explained, and she hasn't been lonely. :)

I notice a lot of fans who are rabid about both singers. Stylistically they couldn't be more different, even way back in the '70s. Heart was nothing like Fleetwood Mac musically.
Personally, I never liked Heart's music. I always sided with the newspaper & magazine reviewers on bands like Heart, Aerosmith & Blue Oyster Cult, not to mention Rick Springfield, Cheap Trick & Jefferson Starship.

I saw Heart once, back in I guess 1982 or 1983, at the same theater in Santa Barbara Peter Green later played.
Nancy can play the piano, did you knkow that?

It makes no difference, Stevie has been thought of as being a lesbian as well. Again, it makes no difference, there are a lot of people in the world who are happy as singles and don't need a member of the opposite (or even same) sex around. From what I understand Ann's relationships didn't end up so great, so maybe she just doesn't "need" a man around?

Sometimes I'm like John McVie about these things... I didn't want to know that.
In any case, one of the hardest rocking bands of the '70s around here was Heart, before the These Dreams overproduced days. Straight On, Even It Up, Crazy On You, Barracuda... what a sound. it was on the radios constantly but I never got tired of it ever. And then there were some quieter songs that were really mystical trippy like Dog And Butterfly and Dreamboat Annie. The band was Canadian with the two sisters being from Washington state. They recorded at Mushroom Studios in Vancouver as did Chilliwack, and they got some great records out of there even if there were disputes business wise.
I have seen a few young guys 'come out' and end up kicked out of their homes by their Dads and end up in very bad places physically and emotionally. I would tell young people to stay in the damn closet until it's safe for you! Like when you aren't in school probably or are self supporting more or less. There are some who can do it and know they can I suppose but I would never encourage anybody to simply 'come out' about something personal unless they really have to. Personal means to me it's not anybody else's business. Those who do share I have no problem with though, but what is right for one person is not right for another, and the role model thing is not all good if young people are going to get real hurt when they emulate them.

I don't know for a fact if she is, and obviously as others have stated, it doesn't matter, it doesn't change who she is, but based on facts,, I am under a strong impression that she's either complete lesbian or at least bisexual with a strong attraction to women. Also, if anyone believes in gaydar, I'm a bisexual who's been attracted to women since and developed an often correct gaydar at a young age, and Annie is setting it off like crazy. In a way I'm sort of hoping it's right- she's a beautiful woman, and I think any lesbian or bi female would want and be lucky to be with her. Either way, I will always be a fan and love her and her music.
I've always thought she and Linda Ronstadt would make a cute little (figuratively speaking) couple.

It's nobodies business but Ann's what sexuality she is. I can't believe it's even being discussed. I have no words for how i'm feeling about this discussion right now.

It doesnt matter whether people were insulting Ann or not. What gives ANYBODY the right to discuss the sexuality of any other person? Nothing. Absolutely no reason what so ever to discuss it. How about we open threads to discuss the sexuality of everyone in here? How would anybody like to go onto a thread about people discussing whether they think said person likes girls or boys better?
DefDumbandBlond

How in the world did this get pulled back up after years, and why was it even started in the first place?
I just looooooove the reasoning for this thread:
"Her last relationship with a man was that Fisher boy in the 70s. She adopted kids in the 90s!"
What the hell does that have to do with anything? So....because other relationships of her's weren't put out in the public eye and that she adopted kids makes her possibly gay? Right ok, so I guess that people who haven't been in a serious relationship in a while, and people who'd rather adopt than have their own children/or who can't conceive children period are automatically assumed to be gay. That makes a LOT of sense right there. NOT. It sounds just as ridiculous as that statement above.
None of this is ANYONE'S business but her's.
Just because she's famous doesn't give anyone the right to make threads like this making assumptions based off of nothing legit. I doubt anyone here would like people making threads about them on a message board like this joking around about someone & making stupid remarks and whatnot, so show her the same respect.

Yeah, my face when I saw this was a picture. Why has it been dragged up and what the frig does it matter? Even if she was gay she'd not touch any of us lot with a barge pole. I found a thread bashing Debbie Harry a while back, and I mean bashing hard. I left it. Threads die for a very good reason.

I have no idea, but I would be a liar if I said it did not amuse me greatly.
This brings up an important question I've been pondering on, though: I have over 1,000 posts - can I get weird and aggressive now or do I need to wait a little longer? I don't want to make a Ledge etiquette faux pas or anything.
However, on the subject of the OP and the person that brought it back to life, all I can say is:

I seriously could care less, too. I just saw Heart last Saturday in AC & yeah, that woman can sing! And Nancy can sing, too. Funny though I th0ught I saw what looked like some kind of wedding band on her left hand & on Nancy's, who I thought was married, I saw nothing.

Believe or not this has never occurred to me despite the fact I saw Heart at a huge lesbian charity even a couple of months ago and I've been a fan for years. I guess I've always just assumed she was straight but honestly, who gives a ****? I'd do her though (20 years ago that is).
It kinda makes sense on second thought. I mean "All I Wanna Do is Make Love to You" meaning she wanted to use the dude for his sperm but had no interest in him romantically.

Now the Stevie and Sharon lovers thread I started months ago was way more interesting and controversial than this which is of course why I did it.

First time ever posting on a forum and it's about Ann's sexuality... Oh my. All that matters to me is that she has love and is happy. Love is the only possible thing I can think of that has kept her looking young and sounding so great. She's had a life full of love. I don't care where, when or how she gets it...as long as she's getting it.
On a personal note: just to toy with the speculation.. IF she is, I have to say...
I would love her even more!

IF she is, and I would say she does come across as someone who swims in the ladypool more than occasionally, I think she was probably scared into the closet over 30 years ago. At the time of Dreamboat Annie, the sisters were accused of being secret lesbot lovers since they appeared to be naked and back-to-back on the cover of the album, which got everybody up in arms. Remember, this is back in the stone ages. Although most people would do this today , I think the masses would have burned their albums back in the day if Ann came out. But as the old saying goes: once bitten, twice shy.

Aww! See what happens when you have two eyebrows, Iovine? Take notes!
ANYWAY, "Jimmy beating away"? I know what you MEANT, but...that is tee hee for me. Because I am a 13 year old boy at heart.
ANYWAY PART 2: Electric Boogaloo, I understand your pain re: Sara, because that particular performance is what I call my Auditory Prozac - whenever I am feeling even slightly icky, I watch it and then I feel better...as long as I brace myself for the Iovine Moment. Like, it took me a few times to get over so many close-ups of Waddy in Stop Draggin,' but I was able to do that, because whoa, it's Waddy, Waddy is awesome. But I cannot do the same for Iovine.
Also, your canned biscuit metaphor is priceless.

well, i wasn't quite certain what type of drum contraption it was, so i opted for "beating away" what was i thinking?
the only 2 things (3 things, actually) that get me with waddy on SDMHA is 1) stevie grabbing waddy's hair. 2) waddy's teeth. 3) the unsettling thought that stevie possibly "beat away" with him once or twice.
