So anyway I just went to court this morning for a couple unpaid tickets I had, (NOTE: not a good idea to let those things go) and even though the judge was pretty nice and lenient I still hated it, and I never want to go back!

Just wait until you get a Jury Summons. :laugh:I had that. Right after I turned 18, like a week. I sat in the room all week and nothing happened!

Court does suck. I have to go a couple times a year, as the Plaintiff(for evictions, wage garnishments, etc..), and it still sucks. People get ugly in court.

Too bad in the near future I will have to endure bein' in one for many a day to resolve the neglience suit filed in the death of my Mother (Not looking forward to Sunday, Which is Mother's Day)

WEll then Pay your damn tickets! That sounds like something that you totally put yourself into...your fault...you don't pay tickets=you go to court.

So if you PAY your tickets...you don't go to court. It's really quite simple.

Jason I didn't think you could get a jury summons as a legal practitioner, at least you couldn't here.

anyone registered to vote can receive a jury summons, but most people in the legal field (like me and the other Jason) are excused because they often know parties involved or are already aware of facts of the case

In Georgia they can and do Summon me. Usually, like Jazzie said, we are never picked.

by the way, if you ever get a jury summons, going to the first jury call is hilarious. the stories some people come up with to be excused are funny as hell. and of course, you always have a handful of people who registered to vote for a million reasons other than being able to vote who don't understand why they're there.

in my 6 years at the clerk's office years ago, there were never less than 2 drunk people, 2 semi-homeless people and 10 people who couldn't speak English.

the saddest one was where we had sent a jury summons to a girl and on Monday during jury call her mom came up to me and said, I'm sorry my daughter can make it, she passed away last week. I couldn't even respond. I just said I'm so sorry, we'll take her name off and thank you.
