FROM THE WIZ & SEVEN WONDERS~
To all members:
Due to unforeseen recent events, it has ultimately been decided to cancel the Seven Wonders Party scheduled for October 14th in Las Vegas. This decision has been based on two factors - the lack of reservation sales & the overwhelming controversy that has developed in the past few days. This event was created with the sincerest intentions of offering the fans a once in a lifetime opportunity to enjoy a private concert with Stevie Nicks at a private party celebrating the online community. However, because of the amount of negative public reaction that has permeated throughout the community and the fact that not enough reservations have been booked in a sufficient amount of time to monetarily secure this event, we have no choice but to cancel. We are currently stuck at 52 reservations. With the release of the statement by the NicksFix on 5/8, it would be an inevitable uphill battle to try to rally any additional fan support for this.
Despite the rumours, negotiations were on the table. This would never have even been attempted if the possibility of it coming to fruition was not realistic. But without the financial support, it cannot happen. Simple as that. In regards to the statement posted on the NicksFix, a public response was required. I can only imagine the amount of emails that were pouring into John Kinney’s inbox regarding this event. Perhaps the biggest oversight in this whole venture on the part of Seven Wonders was the expectation of the fans keeping this thing somewhat “discreet” and not publicly involving her management, the NicksFix, etc. Although it quickly became apparent that was not going to happen.
Keep in mind that this decision to cancel the event is the decision of Seven Wonders and Seven Wonders only. No outside influence has played a role in this decision. Seven Wonders has every right to throw any private party it wishes at any time and to negotiate a contract with any celebrity entertainer it wishes to perform at that party. As administrator of this site, I am proud to say that we attempted to offer the fans something unique, something different, and something very special. However, the community has spoken and unfortunately the majority dictates that this cannot become a reality.
To those who have booked reservations to the event, you will receive a full refund via Paypal within 24-48 hours. Thank you for taking a chance on a great opportunity. We tried our best, but unfortunately it just wasn’t meant to be.
Special thanks to all those who kept a positive attitude throughout and to those who defended my personal integrity. It was greatly appreciated.
Thank You.

I believe you had the best intentions and never doubted refunds would be offered, I just don't think Stevie would a do a fan party for any amount of money...thanks...

Poor liquidblue.....what a bummer.....
Please come back & post here, liquidblue! Your Stevie party will materialize some day......it's like Buckingham & Nicks ...... "the time wasn't right" ..... but the time will be right when the stars say so .... & then Stevie will sing for her closest fans.
Plus, she will also do this in Europe so that Romy & Sharon & Gunther & Gaius & Gerald will be able to attend, too.

if you go to the nickfix's fan event and scroll down...no, keep going...way down you'll see a MidSouth fan party I put together years back and there's even a lovely pic. anyway, I know how hard it was to put that together back then, I can't imagine what "the wiz" had to deal with.
in the end, I hope all intentions were true. it was a great idea while it lasted, so sad to see it end for some.
I will just say it seems just odd to me that all of a sudden due to "circumstances" it's cancelled. something just smells fishy to me. low ticket sales? :sorry: hell, folks have only known about it for a couple days. I just don't get it, but I hope everyone walks away unscathed.

i dont know who organized this
personally while i can appreciate
the intention...im a bit perplexed @ moment
as to smells i sense integrity with regard to $$$ returned
but i also sense irrespons and naivete
1) dont post public what you wish to remain private
2) dont blame the fans behavior (hold candy to the nose of a pup then pull it away as 'its their fault' they cant have any...no surprise the reaction you may well receive)
3) do discuss the 'plan' with er lets see maybe stevies management prior to
4) anticipate all the why, whats, hows, whos and no-ways! from peeps when making deference to 'behind-the-scenes'
EDIT: pls dont take this as diss for sevenwonders or the event 'they' attempted...it is not meant in that way at all...merely observations only intended for lessons learned only. always keep the faith and dont stop.

Great idea in theory, and I loved LiquidBlue when he posted here so I am sure that he had every intention of hosting a great event....
But, this is just not something that Stevie would want to do... Her track record for these type of things is not the best.
Sorry to everyone that had their hopes up! This would have been a blast if it panned out.

I honestly don't know what he expected. I mean you cannot surely go into negotiations on something like this without a big chunk of the money upfront. No artist will agree if it's just dependent on ticket sales. And fans can't be expected to stump up $350 if the artist isn't guaranteed. It was always a no win situation IMO. And why on earth did he think people wouldn't contact the Nicksfix or Stevie's management? Of course the people who did buy tickets are probably going to blame the people who didn't.

Just to add that those people over there who are blaming fans for this not happening need to get a grip and re-read Brians post.

Yeah, there's really no need for people to be throwing blame around about this. It was a simple matter of Brian biting off a little more than he could chew. You live and learn, and maybe one day he'll try something like this again with a little more experience of how these things work.

Again, how do you know this happened? For all we know, the negotiations could have been going well and then her management backed out for a purely professional reason? I mean are you privy to insider information here?
Note - I am not saying this did not go down the way you said. I am just questioning the authority with which you assert this as the truth because there has been to my knowledge no public information released on how the negotiations took place  Thus, I give Brian the benefot of the doubt.

My only thought is that something like this shouldn't have been entertained if there wasn't a big part of the money upfront.

Me too. But, though I was not privy to anything other than the public onformation, Brian is a pretty well organized guy - at least as I know him. So, I cannot imagine he would go off half cocked or raising expectations for no good reason.

Based on all of Brian's comments about the lack of reservations and the existence of "controversy," plus his response to the NicksFix announcement that, well, this is what happens when news of a private event becomes public, the combination of factors that led to this thing being "cancelled" seems fairly obvious to me. I'm not asserting that I know exactly what happened, but I think it's safe to say that at the very least things got a little out of control and didn't play out the way Brian had planned. And I'm not faulting him for that; no matter how well-organized a person he is, something like this is a massive undertaking, and in trying to plan this kind of event, there's always going to be problems that come up where afterwards to say to yourself, "Well, ****, don't know why I didn't see that one coming."
Anyway, controversy and such aside, if you're planning an event that involves booking big-name talent, you don't announce the event until negotiations are done and you've got that contract signed. You just don't. That's Rule #1, always. I can't give Brian the benefit of the doubt on that one.

I concur, and would like to add that this is a HUGE reason why this thing couldn't have ever gotten off the ground. And for him to blame this on anything other than his own misdirection is ridiculous. The fans didn't do anything wrong, he obviously didn't know what he was doing. This was a huge undertaking, but he chose to do it, it was self-elected, noone put a gun to his head. So since this was his baby, he's responsible for the collapse of it if he didn't take the necessary precautions that are crucial to pull something like this off. To blame everyone but himself is poor form. It's not the fans fault that this didn't happen. The responsibility ultimately lies with the Wizard, even if factors occured beyond his control that made it impossible for this to ever happen, he's still the one who set this thing up so he's the one who has to answer to everyone . He made a mistake, he tried to be the big man, but it's not like this won't be forgotten or at least forgiven. I don't think he should be roasted, but I do think some healthy criticism is definitely in order, he can't get away from that nor should he. It'll blow over and he'll get over it. Let's just hope he learned something from this.

Is this person trying to insinuate that the FANS are to blame for the cancellation of an event that looked suspicious from the start due to 1.) a lack of official endorsement and 2.) lack of logistical detail? What a crock. Such bad business, such bad goodwill.

How would he have gotten the money together in order to secure the contract without talking about it to the fans? If someone were to try and do this, would he/she have to have the money on their own, secure the artist, and THEN get money from participants? I think I just answered my own question b writing it out like that.
I feel sorry for anyone who got their hopes up, but the whole thing seemed shaky to me, so I'm glad I wasn't one of them.

And that really sucks. Nobody knows what other fan's life situations are & they have no right to judge them for not wanting to be a part of this, or not being ABLE to be a part of this. To assume that your fellow fans are able to come up with $350 up front & have total trust in something that's not confirmed is asking a lot. To assume that your fellow fans are willing to take this chance just because it's Stevie is asking a lot. Nobody should feel guilty about this at all. It's too bad it won't happen, but oh well.
I will say I thought it was odd that the post seemed to berate people who contacted Nicksfix or Stevie's management. Why wouldn't they? Why shouldn't they?

Intentions were good on this event, I'm sure. It appears that the organizer wanted to get the money from fans before the contract was official, so that there was money to provide upfront - which in turn - would allow for the artist to commit. Unfortunately, telling people BEFORE you get a contract signed just to get the money first is not the way to go.
If there was a way the organizer initially raised the money from a sponsor/supporter (impossible, I know), so that the funds are available to book the talent and have that commitment, then the organizer can send out an announcement, post an amount, and then pay back the person/organization with the money collected. This way, fans will be paying for a sealed deal and can plan for a great night with the artist. The organizer can then pay back the supporter.
I'm so sorry this happened. It would have been fun for all involved.

What a shame this isn't going to happen -- everyone likes a good Stevie bash -- with Stevie or not.
I'm sure intentions were nothing but noble and it's a risky thing to try and do this -- fair play to Brian and the gang.
But the fact remains it's a difficult thing to get right.
Fair play to them and hopefully there are no hard feelings.

Yup. The only way would have been to put up, say 50 grand on his own(or whatever the required deposit is), and act as producer of the event. Then essentially you take on the responsibility of paying the full fee of the artist regardless of how many tickets you sell. I thought about doing that when considering taking the project on months ago. When I realized there wasn't a fraction of the support needed to buy all the tickets, I bagged the idea. In order to get that many people to buy in it would have to have been a public event. And that would have defeated the purpose of the whole thing. I wasn't willing to take it in the shorts to produce an event with that kind of risk. The numbers don't come close to penciling out.

You have an excellent point. It would be quite entertaining to have something like a NOTS 4 phases of Stevie party. Young, crazy, skinny Stevie, wacked out RAL Stevie, Klonopin Stevie, and current Stevie complete with frankenboks. 5 songs each, no song repeats. If the NOTS I went to is any indication, there is the distinct possibility this event would be more entertaining than the concert The Wizard was hoping for. And cheaper too.

I will! Who dared say Waddy's hair was dorky?! That hair is sacred!
And don't forget the tight leather trousers. Mmmmh .... Waddy .... leathery goodness. :o
OK, I'll stop now.

My hair is curly too, but not like that, and just cause Waddy is dorky doesn't mean he's not super cool. Um...you can have his trousers, he's way too skinny for me.
Hey, looks like there will have to be a "Waddy Off" as well! Bring it on, Sahara, bring it on.

He's geeky-cool!

Ha! You think I haven't had his trousers already? ;) *innocent*

You know, I've tried explaining my attraction to Waddy to other people and nobody gets it. I mean, nobody. I guess I should have known that when I found someone who understood I would end up obssessing alongside them ... or fighting them to the death.
I look forward to it, my friend. :wavey:
PS: This morning I found myself wondering what straightening Waddy's hair would be like. Then I realised it was turning into yet another weird fantasy so I removed myself from it and listened to Street Angel really loudly. But the thought's still there....! :]

ooo, now I feel kinda bad. I don't crush on Wad or anything. I just like to be dorky, jump around, sing guitar parts, and catch tambos. Luckily, my competitive nature is such that your Waddy crush will not sway my performance.
That's cool you like Waddy, I don't like when people say he is ug and stuff, and how could Stevie like him? I think he's very cool. I'm sure if I knew him I would crush on him. Wait, I never like
Gemini boys, so maybe not. But I would like him a lot.

Dang! You're thinking like a guy, ie - if someone says something nice, they must be crushing on me.
Wait, there's a club? And if you join, you get to laugh evilly like you just did? And you get to trap people forever?
Hmmm, a Waddy crush is sounding better and better...
Edit - I just checked your profile, you're a scorpio. No wonder I think you're funny. It never fails.
