"Note: There are rumors circulating on the Internet that Stevie may be performing at a Las Vegas private party on October 14th. The rumors are false."

It was all a rumor. Rumour?

Okay, I am officially pissed now. :distress: :(
Is this just a an official statement because the contract is not signed or did Stevie really turn this down?

gldstwmn

Everything that's on there has to be cleared by Stevie's management.

i had no doubt this would be
addressed on the nicksfix site...
def questions for THE WIZ
and yes gldstwmn wirecross would be
wonderful for those whove already purchased
lots of disclaimers throughout the 'invitation' and 'faq'
as to the possibility of stevie not being there...
altho there will be peeps mighty upset i would imagine...

this was perhaps something plausible for a garage band...
but the up-front-first dollar bit for stevie was that really feasible?
siggys on dotted lines are there for a reason
of course there is always : hope :

Sandy this is OT but did someone delete all your karma points over there for asking if you'd been scammed? :distress:
Also, I notice that one person seems to be adamant that the notice on the NicksFix has been taken down or isn't there.
I'm going to go make some popcorn. :distress:

Nah, I just joined over there when this whole thing got announced.
I have been meaning to join over there before now, but never got around to it. It seems like I can never get enough Stevie/FM discussion, so I go to different boards from time to time to see what's up. :D

Thanks. If Stevie really just backed out of the deal, I can live with that.
But it would be so cool if Stevie did more personal things with her fans. I mean she does release her journal entries from time to time and that is cool and am grateful for that, but would be nice to have some recognition for true die hard fans. Oh well, I will wait to see what happens I guess.

Stevie doesn’t give a rats ass about her diehard fan club base. Heart and Pat Benatar do! Both have done oodles and oodles for their fan clubs. Heart has done tons of M&G's for the fan club members, even invited them to a dress rehearsal concert on the Sunset strip in 04 for free. Pat has done TONS of M&G's, met with her fan club as a whole on 4 different years. Q&A sessions with everyone, group pics, etc.

Stevie never does SHIIT! Her Phoeniz Heart stuff isnt for her fans, it was for P. Heart and her dad. Im still shocked she didn't get sued over not giving everyone and autograph that paid for those $$$ tickets.

I hate to respond to a post like this, but you are so dead wrong in almost everything you say that I will.

It's crystal clear - Stevie's management heard about these rumours and put a stop to them - plain and simple. Stevie didn't do anything wrong - I don't see why thats hard for people to understand when it was the WIZARD who thought he was running her life. He picked a date, told the fans she would be there on October 14 without ever talking to Stevie's management or Stevie. That is rather incredible. Isn't it?

And you are so off the wall and inappropriate to say "Stevie never does SHIIT!" You are clueless as to what Stevie has done in so many circumstances for so many people that I almost can't bear to respond to you on this.

Well guess it aint happening then... i havne't read this thread, but i saw it just then on the nicksfix.

All i shall say is that is would be really **** if stevie said no to this because it was a fan concert thingy... if we can come up with the $$ it does leave the question as to why she would say no... i dont want to think about why..

Im only talking about the die hard fan club base that she doesnt do shiit for. Im talking about meet and greets, sound checks, etc. That type of stuff. Im not talking about Ipods to the veteran hospital, giving $ to charity. Im only talking about the die hard fan base. At least she does the Edge of 17 walk still, thats about it!

Okay, now that I have had time to catch my breath and read the following, I think I will trust Brian and see what develops.

32. How much information can we expect to receive in the next week or so?

answer: There will be several new developments within the next week. As much information that can be made public, will be made public.

32. Can you assure us that you will keep us well notified of the progression of negotiations so we are fully aware what to expect?

answer: Starting on May 14th, a weekly newsletter will be emailed to all those who have booked reservations to the event. Each newsletter will include more and more details regarding the event. This information will be exclusive to those who have booked a reservation.

well, since I don't have a horse in this race, I can't say for sure how I really feel about it.

maybe the message on the Nicksfix is a public message that must be done since this was billed as a private party.

He picked a date, told the fans she would be there on October 14 without ever talking to Stevie's management or Stevie.

Actually, what he said:

--A contract is being organized for Stevie to perform (meaning he is likely dealing with the company that puts together Stevie's corporate shows

--If it falls through, you get your money back

I don't think it could be more clear. Anyone who pays their $350 (and I still might) should know exactly what is going on based on what Brian has said. He never said she was confirmed. Maybe this is a bit of a fiasco, but accuracy and fairness should rule. Brian's been around for quite some time. Accusing him of scamming or lying is out of line, in my opinion.

This event is a private party for Seven Wonders. It also a private event for the fans. When details of a private event are made public, a public response is required. John Kinney has done the right thing in making a "public" statement regarding the "private" event scheduled for October 14th. There is no "official" public concert slated for that date. We have explained in as much detail as possible the specifics of this event.

This is a private event for Seven Wonders. A "private" contract being organized for a "private" event. A refund has been offered in the event that the party specifics were not carried out as promised. That was my word to you as administrator of this site and I have kept my word. Those that are uncomfortable with the specifics of this event are welcome to request a 100% full refund as promised.

Right, like the nicksfix posted the info before and after about the "private" bar mitz vah.

I don't think so. It's posted on the nicksfix to hopefully end it and to prevent anyone else from being possibly taken in - if that's the case.

I'm sure an "event" will take place, I just think it will be a Stevieless event. I mean how much more info do you need for a NO she's not attending then from her official site. You don't get any closer then that as an outsider.

For everyone that is excited about this, I hope I'm wrong too.. But I just think that if it were still a possibility, the nicksfix wouldn't say anything - and they would just let things unfold. If it's a private gig, they don't say anything at all before or after based on the past. The nicksfix is the one taking it more public with their statement moreso then what is posted on a couple of message boards like seven wonders and the ledge...

Plus, even if the negotiations continue with that organization that books talent for private gigs - just because you come up with the money still doesn't guarantee Stevie. I'm sure she has first refusal rights.

And I don't think Brians a liar and a thief - that's to be determined if nothing happens with this. It is way to early to determine stuff like that. I'm possitive his intentions are on the up and up.

The insinuations are more on sevenwonders. I keep going back and forth, so I'm forgetting which is which.

I'm sure this will all sort out. Sounds like it's a case of best intentions that likely won't work out.

I realize this will be more evidence to chiffonhead about negativity, but I think it's kind of funny that Stevie plays a World Shoe conference and a bah mitzvah for a rich defense contractor, but has officially nixed, no pun intended, five months in advance, a party being organized by genuine fans.

just wish Stevie wanted to make this happen for her and her fans... i would assume (possibly incorrectly) that one who appreciates and acknowledges their fans and wants to connect with them would jump at the chance to have a concert with fans from the past 30 years... just wish Stevie wanted to make this happen for her and her fans... The only thing I'd say to that, is simply to remember that just because something doesn't happen, it doesn't mean that one of the parties didn't want it to happen. I imagine there is a lot that goes into coordinating something like this... including arranging for a band to play a one-off gig, as well as travel arrangements & expenses for the band and their equipment.

I think this was a great idea on paper, but that maybe a few people got a little ahead of themselves in their expectations for it.

I believe when Stevie's done private gigs in the past, she was either preparing to hit the road, in the middle of a tour, or had just finished one... so she had a band in place. For something like this, I don't know that she could just call Taku or Waddy Wachtel out of the blue and say "Hey, what're you doing on October 14th?"

more a comment on WANTS

Maybe indeed! Remember yesterday when everybody was all like, "Oh, gee, what the heck, I'll make a reservation, it all still seems iffy to me, but they promised a refund, and if doesn't work out and Stevie can't make it, oh well, it was worth a shot, no harm, no foul!"?

Oh, I'm sure it was. But the more we get into these details, the more Mageboy25's point is well taken. It is what it is and I don't expect more from Stevie. Just commenting.

Thank you so much! Finally someone sees the light. I mean really what should we expect from her? She has never given a green light to real fan club benifits ever. Why should we expect her to care now? Yes Stevie doesn't owe us anything. Shes just a product she sells. However some artist: Heart, Pat, Country singers do give a flying shiit about their hard core fan base. Yes AT LEAST we still get the Edge of 17 walk and the Outside The Rain bouquets, well not since 1998.

Oh yeah while im bragging: Pat Benatar has opened up her sound checks to so many fans in the past before, even at the last minute when they crash them:D . The second you ever walk in Pat's dressing room/backstage area usually the 1st words out of her mouth are "would you like something to drink?" Thats the least she does. Ive seen her offer the band/crew buffet to fans that have showed up around soundchecks before. One night the buffet dude told us it was for the band/crew only and Pat said we were ok(and she sat at the table with us while we ate, 2 of the people she had never met before).

Pat came from humble backgrounds and isn't selfish like other spoiled brats growing up. When the Pat Fanclub has been welcomed before to the Soundchecks as a whole, they were more than a sound checks. They basicially did a mini concert for us. She then asked what song do you want to hear next? This was followed by a Q&A session, group pics, thanks, hugs, etc. Guess how much we had to pay? NOTHING, zelch, none of this $350 shiit. Yeah i know Stevie's fan base is much larger than Pat's these days. Its the effort Pat and others put in. Stevie is a Madonna type star, and could care less about most of us die hard fans that have been with her since the 70s.

Bash me all you want, tell me to take it to the Pat board. Bottom line is Stevie is Stevie, and do not expect anything else!

They basicially did a mini concert for us. on: Today at 07:49:59 PM »

To all members:

That message makes no sense since the Nicksfix message makes clear she is not performing at a "private party" on that date. It makes no mention of a official public concert.

I just think this whole event was a little too hopeful... especially as it stemmed on the sale of tickets. If there was already money in place then it might have been different. But from what I gathered it was dependent on ticket sales?

I tend to agree. I mean all of the info. from this has been that it is in the planning stages, etc. If I were attending, I would take a wait and see attitude if I could spare the $350 for another month or so.

So Brian W. IS The Wiz? He has denied that in the past. Not too reassuring, that.

Oh well. No reason to fight over it at this point. I'm sure Brian will eventually issue the refunds to those that ask for them, so if people want to continue to let him hold their money in order to keep their hopes alive, they are welcome to do so.

Bingo. Of course Stevie doesn't owe her fans anything, and she's got every right to run her career and her concerts as she sees fit - but it sure would be nice if she showed a little more appreciation for her more dedicated fans, and it's difficult not to notice the contrasts when there are so many other artists out there who do make it a point to do special things for their die-hard supporters, whether that means fan club privileges or setlist surprises or more personal contact or whatever else.

Hey guess what? She doesn't owe you anything. She is a musician not your mother. Get over it. If Heart and Pat Benatar want to do things for their fans then let them, that's THEIR prerogative it doesn't have anything to do with Stevie. You act as if this is what musicians are SUPPOSED to do for their fans. It's not, it's a privilege if we get something like this, not our friggin' birthright. What a load of crap.

Deanna, have you ever thought about growing bangs? You'd look sooooo much better with bangs... ;)

Listen, kids, I don't think anyone was being deceitful (wow, just realized I've no clue how to spell that) or trying to rip people off. Wizard never said this was confirmed, he said it was being worked out. So, oh well, I guess it didn't work out.

Maybe their people went to her people with a contract & she wouldn't agree to the conditions. Maybe Stevie wants to do it but her people don't like the idea. Maybe she can't get all of her band together on that date. Maybe she wants too much money. Maybe after all the **** she got for doing that bar mitzvah, she doesn't want to do private events anymore. Maybe she hates us. Maybe she is doing the party but not on that date. Maybe the contract had a clause in it requiring her to sing "WISYA" but banning her from singing "Dreams" and she's upset about it. Maybe Vegas remembers what happened last time we were all there & banned this event. Maybe she's growing out her bangs for Chris & they won't be ready by October. Maybe they ran out of those classy rainbow T-shirts from last year & they need to order more.

OK, obviously, obviously my post is mostly tongue in cheek, but come on. Relax & stop throwing blame around & bitching about something that was never actually confirmed. If Stevie can't (or won't) do it, it's not going to kill me, I still love the woman & her music. Give it some time, it's 5 months away, things could change. Absolutely, and you know I agree with you on that score. But I don't think Mageboy really feels that Stevie "owes" her fans any of these nice perks. It's difficult not to feel a little disillusioned, though, if you're a big fan of another artist who does offer those kinds of perks to their die-hard.

Also, I get a bit of a different sense about the general consensus around here. I think most people realize that Stevie doesn't owe her fans anything special and certainly doesn't seem to be planning on giving them anything special anytime soon, hence the idea of, "Well, if she's not gonna do anything nice for us on her own, let's just buy her off for an evening!" Other than that, most folks around here seem to be pretty content to keep going to Stevie concerts and getting the same tired performances of the same tired songs and coming back and saying, "Oh well, at least she wore a funny hat and twirled around a couple times, maybe she'll hit those high notes or bring out more surprises next year, I'm sure I'll go anyway, I always do!"

And that's an okay way to feel as a fan? "Let's buy her off for an evening" because we're not satisfied with what she gives us? I mean what is she, a prostitute? People need to start thinking about what it was that drew them to Stevie in the first place and consider themselves lucky that Stevie has touched their lives with her music at all period.

Yeah, exactly. I'll retain my right to be frustrated and complain when it comes up, but I know it's Stevie's prerogative to run her career as she sees fit, and since I don't really care for a lot of what she's doing now, I don't plan on going to any of her concerts in the near future (not that she's got any planned at the moment, or that she'd be coming anywhere near where I am).

As far as Mageboy, yeah, his posts were pretty inflammatory and dramatic, but I don't think he ever said or really implied that Stevie "owes" her fans anything. He said, "Stevie doesn't do **** for her die-hard fans," and, well, that's more or less true.

I agree. I also think she probably views the 138 or so shows with FM, the Gold Dust tour, etc., as being for the fans. I think she looks are the rare songs and covers pulled out for these shows and considers that for the cool fans and for herself actually. I am not saying she is correct in this line of reasoning. I am just saying that if I had been on the road essentially non-stop (rehearsing, touring, travelling, promoting, etc. ) for four years, I'd think I was giving alot of myself no matter how much I was compensated for it. I also think her charity appearances and charity work also play into how she feels about her self-giving to the general public, some of which are fans. So, maybe she looks at it that way. Just a thought

I have commented on this thread, and I've been guilty of dissing Stevie at times, so just to be clear:

I don't think Stevie owes die-hard fans anything, including this intimate performance. I am disappointed that this is not happening because I was excited about it. I agree we don't know the reason for her not doing it and we shouldn't rush to blame anyone. I agree with Mageboy's overall sentiments, even if I wouldn't phrase them the same way.

I also have to agree that the Wizard's response to the Nicksfix post doesn't make any sense and I think he should be very forthcoming and clear about what is really going on.

I still don't see anything wrong with the intent, i.e., I don't see it as objectification for a bunch of fans to hire Stevie for a performance...as long as there weren't expectations that she do anything other than her standard private party gig.

Stevie will never do the stuff Heart and Pat Benatar do for their fans. It's never been her thing. I try very hard to accept her for who she is and appreciating what she has given and still gives.

One day, I would like to start my own message board dedicated (in terms of topic of conversation) to fleetwood mac. Would anyone think about joining? I would make it a no-registration board, but I would retain the privilege of kick-banning anyone I deemed unfit.

I disagree. I think she is a paid performer. Why shouldn't she take a private gig if the money's right? I mean wouldn't we all do that? Don't we all do that in our lives everyday? Who here would turn down more money for what they do especially if they enjoyed doing it as she apparently does? I certainly would not.

I think you just hate that she does private shows for money. I think you think that in some way demeans her. Personally, I see no difference in a private show and a paid public one.

I think back then people confused "bored and tired" with "coked out of her gourd."

But there are shows from the late 70s where Stevie sounds either bored to tears or high as a kite or both. She was an incredibly erratic performer at that point.

Regardless, I don't think Stevie sounds tired these days, I think her performances are tired.

First of all --

Let me say that I'm really sorry this isn't going to happen and as has already been said, there are many posisble, legitimate reasons why it couldn't -- difficulty in getting a band together etc -- apart from just not being interested in the fanbase. Hopefully the evening will go ahead as planned and will be a really great event.

Cliffdweller has the perspective on this right. I don't think we should feel Stevie owes us something -- as has been said many times already, she's a professional and what she chooses to do or not do is indeed her prerogative. It's a shame it can't be.

The one thing we can say about the response on the NicksFix is fair play to them for at least being direct with us and not letting this drag on. If they were to turn it down closer to the time it would be much harder to take.

Every single time I read something along those lines, I'm reminded of the Richard Dashut interview from the late '70s, where he addressed criticisms that Stevie sounded "bored and tired singing the same songs each night."

What is truly ironic is that after the Tusk tour, in some interview, Stevie mention that she was so Rhiannoned and Landslided out that she didn't want to ever sing them again. Or something to that effect.

I know - in fact, I actually feel sorry for her in this regard. But, she has cut those from her sets before. I think she did not do either at the zombied out TOSOTM show I saw and she did not do landslide for TISL. I remember many people in my section of a few of the TISL shows I saw were all pissed off that she did not do Landslide - so go figure. In the end, I think she is correct regarding the hits and the vast majority of people wanting to hear them live - but I do wish she would mix it up more.

If I'm not mistaken, Stevie didn't do Landslide in several solo tours in the 80's. She definitely didn't do Rhiannon in TOSOTM. She came out for the encore, sang one line and said "you sing the rest", then did HAEWFY and left. I turned to the person next to me and said "what, no Rhiannon"? These days, it would be more like "Hooray, no Rhiannon!"

I've been reading the threads on this non-event. I've worked in special events, and have dealt with noteworthy bands that have been hired to do such events (I swear - I'm not bragging...Kool and the Gang, The Bee Gees...please)...

Although the events I've helped set up were corporate and private, the one thing I learned from the folks at the William Morris agency (the group we worked with) is you NEVER....EVER...advertise and solicit money for an event proclaiming to have a major artist performing unless you have a signed contract with them. I'm sure Brian (or whomever it was who was trying to arrange this) meant well...this is supposed to be a Seven Wonders/Fan gathering...but he should have NEVER said that Stevie would appear unless it was sign, sealed and delivered. Not only does it dupe the fans, and dash their hopes, it also sends a negative message to Stevie and her people that certain fans (well intentioned or not) are making promises on behalf of Stevie that she cannot keep. This will make her less likely to ever want to do a private event for fans in future.

I also highly doubt that NicksFix put out this statement because they couldn't work out a deal. If so, they would have said so. It's a rumor - as they state. All artists get requests like this through their agent or manager; but it usually goes through their assistant. They in turn will tell the requestor they will consider it, and basically put it in the back of the pile. The organizer probably thought he got thru, felt confident it could happen, and then took it too far by announcing something that probably didn't even get past Stevie's agent.

Boots, you should post more often, you always have something interesting and thoughtful to say.

I found "The Wizard"'s tone in his new announcement to be a bit odd when he wrote that, well, John Kinney had to put up a notice, that's what happens when news of a private event become public. It almost seemed that he was implying that it was various people's faults for "leaking" information about the party to the NicksFix or to other people. But what did he expect, posting all about it on a public message board and inviting everybody from every other message board to join in?

Yeah in a later post and as a flimsy aside. I think the general consensus is that people believe that this performance is, in a sense, owed to them as "die-hard fans" when that couldn't be farther from the truth. When you start down that path of reasoning it gets really scary. I mean, what else are we going to get it in our head that she owes us?

Or she could just go back to the happy middle ground, like she did in '98...I think she was headed in the right direction with a few of the new additions to the 'Gold Dust Tour' setlist, but of course it's difficult to please everyone. Leave something out and folks complain. Play something again and folks complain.
Still, I don't think the world would stop turning, if she did something more along the lines of the 'Enchanted' tour again. Even though it was promoting a boxed-set, I think that tour is a lot closer to the kind of career-spanning show Stevie's fans would like to see. A nice mixture of
the chuggy-guitar and synth-driven hits and the stripped-down acoustic songs (I really liked your post in the Chit Chat Forum).

Of course, and Fleetwood Mac could do the same, with very few complaints. It boggles my mind whenever I suggest a setlist shake-up and people respond with, "Well if they don't play any hits people will be mad and won't go!" But there's very clearly a middle ground here. The Enchanted tour included "Dreams" AND "Gold Dust Woman" AND "Stop Dragging" AND "Stand Back" AND "Rhiannon" AND "Landslide" AND "Edge of Seventeen" and she still had room for a bunch of great songs that had hardly ever seen the light of day.

Meanwhile, fast forward eight years and those chestnuts are gone, but she still had every one of those hits in her Oceania setlist, along with a number of other Enchanted tour staples that have now become warhorses along with the rest of them - "Outside The Rain," "Enchanted," and "Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You."

For someone who keeps virtually the same setlist over the course of an entire tour, to still have 10 of the same songs in a 16-18 song setlist 8 years and 3 tours down the road is almost pathetic. Especially when you consider that she's added more than 20 new songs to her catalogue in that time, between TISL and SYW. And to top it all off, of the 16 songs she played in Oceania, TWO were written in the past TWENTY YEARS.

It's just silly. And then some people actually claim that she's not a nostalgia act at the moment.

A nice mixture of
the chuggy-guitar and synth-driven hits and the stripped-down acoustic songs (I really liked your post in the Chit Chat Forum).

Thanks! I always aim to please.

Well if you repeatedly critized MY hair, weight and menopause I'd sure not count you as a loyal and loving fan. I'd be scared of anyone who put that much interest in my bodily functions.
Of course I am a loving fan. If I didn't love Stevie so much, would I really waste my time on opinions about her image and her health? No! Because, I wouldn't care!

I've posted my opinons about her weight because I was concerned because she didn't look healthy. Now that she has lost weight, she admited in a recent interview that she was totally unhealthy. Yet for some reason everyone on this board is harassing me because I have the nerve to point out the obvious!

As far as her hair is concerned, I posted a thread asking how people liked Stevie's hair. The thread went on for pages and pages, so clearly I was not the only one with strong opinons about it.

And finally, as far as menopause is concerned, I just mentioned that menopause could be the reason why she was dragging her feet during the SYW tour.

None of this was criticism towards Stevie. So, I would appreciate it if you and everyone else would stop saying that I am a Stevie basher/crazed fan. I love Stevie and it really upsets me when everyone says otherwise.

Yes, the whole thing was really doomed from the start if they actually expected to keep it "private" while posting about it in a public forum and inviting people from other public forums to sign up. Might as well have aired a commercial about it during Desperate Housewives. I don't doubt Brian had the best of intentions and sincerely wanted to throw a great party for people, but really, it was impossible from the start if they needed to secure that much money from fans in order to negotiate a contract. There's simply no good way to manage collecting funds from that many people while keeping the whole thing "private."

And only 52 reservations, huh? Which probably came from about 30 people who read these forums, since I imagine most folks bought reservations for themselves and at least one guest. I'm surprised it was so low.

Unfortunately, he doesn't release much of anything solo-wise and he doesn't tour solo. But what I've noticed is that I look forward to either of those things if he chooses to do them & I gladly await them, whereas I don't have any desire for either of those things in regards to Fleetwood Mac or Stevie. I'm just not very interested anymore. It's kind of sad to me because I used to be a huge fan of Stevie's, but not anymore. I still adore her old material, but I just don't care for her as an artist these days because she doesn't have anything to offer me. There are certain songs that should stay, no matter how many times they've been played over the years.

Of course, she has dropped two of those at various times.

And of course, there's always that dreaded third option: mix up the setlist a little bit from night to night. That way she could play ALL of her hits AND lots of rarities, just not at every single show.

Financial planners would spank you repeatedly and sharply for not having 3-6 months of living expenses set aside in case of an emergency.
I'm just anal about stuff like that, so that's what I think of when I say afford.
If financial planners would send me that money, I'd be more than happy to put it aside!

The party has been cancelled: http://www.sevenwondersonline.net/index.php/topic,4434.0.html
I do not question the Wizard's integrity. It was a valiant effort. His cancellation post was oddly passive/aggresive. As if to imply that it was the fans fault for not keeping this quiet. Which is funny considering the word had to get out so people could even know about it or make a resevation. He CANNOT have it both ways. It was a great idea..but he obviously did not have the forsight to properly secure or produce an event of this magnitude.
If the 'deposit" could have been secured privately. it may have been a whole other ballgame. A terrific idea with his heart in the right place..but in a word: NAIVE.

Yes it was, but it was very human and I would have responded the same way. If you look from his perspective, he's probably been working really hard on this. I figure he has been dealing with some kind of concert or party promoter and got a positive sign from them that this could happen.

He announces it, and gets bombarded with skepticism. Which should have been predicted, but might have taken him aback.

Then the Nicksfix posting comes out of the blue. I highly doubt the Nickfsix folks or anyone in Stevie's management took a minute to contact Brian and give him a heads up, or to say "there seems to be a communication issue, can we talk". Had they done that, it would have given him the opportunity to cancel it and not be put through the ringer like he was last night.

Heaven's forbid she would actually go on the road playing small venues like Bruce Springsteen, as a treat for her fans. Oh well, I'd be satisfied if she just ventured into Europe with her solo band for once. She can play the biggest, most showy venues she wants, she just needs to come here.

Definitely... I still haven't lost the hope it would happen. I even thought to go to Eagles concert with a sign saying: "Don, please tell Stevie to come over here''. :D

True. But people were brutal on the guy. I thought he would have known what he was getting into. Maybe he should solicit help in funding the event in private. Then when the negotiations have been worked out, he could open it up to everyone else. I guess it's too late now.

perhaps another snippet for youtube :cool:I'm not sure, but let's look at the Tusk Tour weirdnesses, to the best of our ability (we don't have the whole story because we didn't attend all the shows & we don't have all the shows on tape, either).

Of course, she has dropped two of those at various times.I think people expect to hear them more now, post 'The Dance,' than they used to. All I know is that when Anne went to see Stevie on the TISL tour, she told me, "I'm going to be really upset if she doesn't play this, this and this"... and they were all songs everyone here says they're sick of hearing.

And of course, there's always that dreaded third option: mix up the setlist a little bit from night to night. That way she could play ALL of her hits AND lots of rarities, just not at every single show. That would be really cool, but I imagine that option is the least likely of all.

If she does, I'll buy you a coke.Make it a Pepsi, and you're on. ;)

whod come?I have to say, I love the "standards." They're favorite songs and always will be. I like that she still plays them (though I should make clear the fact that I don't go to shows, so my perspective may be different), and if and when I finally get to see her again, I would absolutely want to hear those songs.
But I think she could easily do something similar in scope to the 'Enchanted' tour, every tour. Not those exact songs, of course, but that degree of variety.

A random opinion that I don't think I've ever expressed here... given the projects they were supporting, I felt the 'Timespace' and 'Enchanted' tours should have focused solely on her solo material, and I would be excited if she ever did a tour like that.

Like back in '82 & '83, fans didn't complain in masses about "Oh she is singing Dreams again." Fans actually dug hearing ALL of those, over & over.

Maybe things weren't quite so stale then just given the fact that it was twenty or more years ago, so you have to consider an additional twenty years of Dreams in the set.

I think it all comes down to:

1. Does a fan listen to concert tapes all day, every day, every year?
2. How much time does a fan obsess on Stevie in terms of days per year?

And yeah, people always say, "Oh, I'll be so upset if Artist X doesn't perform My Favorite Songs Y and Z." F*** 'em. F*** those people, if they really mean it. If you go to a concert, and the people on stage put on a great impassioned performance, but they don't play one or two of your favorite songs, and you walked away feeling "gypped"... fine. Don't come back next time. There are plenty of people who have more respect for their favorite artists than that, and they will fill your empty seat next time.

Absolutely it is. I noticed that same thing you did about all of Stevie's Tusk tour songs being permanent fixtures in the setlist.

Chris, you have a right to your opinion & can post what you like. But over the past couple of years, you have posted a lot of stuff about her hair, weight & menopause specifically. Like, a WHOLE lot.

I've followed your posts for over a year and you've always come across as a huge fan with a lot of love for Stevie. You went to Vegas and two Gold Dust shows back to back and provided great reviews.

I just did a quick search of your posts and all you said about her hair is that you don't like the bangs and you don't want her to get a bob. I missed the weight and menopause threads.

Anyway, this is my observation.

It's hard for me to balance this argument -- having never seen the Mac in concert. I know all their classics, I know most of the more obscure stuff, probably as well as some of you who have seen the Mac several times already...
so I find it really tough to come down on either side.

Obviously, I want my first Mac concert experience to be full of the great classics -- the ones even I get sick of occasionally -- Rhiannon, Outside the Rain, Edge, Stand Back [especially Stand Back] -- but I can appreciate how people get tired of them live.
At the same time there are lots of songs that aren't often / ever done live that I'd love to see.

So that's my trouble.

tonights its all about LINDSEY soundstage... :]
however...i thought it had come to me

these references:

Hi Stevie,
My question is in regard to the songs you choose to play live in concert.
Aside from the standard set list selection, have you ever considered including one of your solo album songs that had never been performed in concert? Speaking for life-long fans, we would just freak out over that, much like we did when we heard songs like Garbo, Twisted and Sleeping Angel on the Enchanted Tour. Much love, Bob

Stevie's answer: Yes, I have considered it. What happens is, if it wasn't a hit, a lot of people don't know it and it doesn't go over well. Which is why they end up getting dropped from the set.

Dear Stevie, Many of us have been fans of yours for 25 years and longer. You have such amazing catalog of material! Any chance of mixing up the tunes a bit on your next tour? (i.e. maybe changing the set list a bit from city to city). Only asking because I'll be at most of the shows :-) Much Love Back, Jan

Stevie's answer: Probably not. When I add an album cut, it means one of the favorites has to come out.

i just know what i stated in the initial post came from her lips
but where? (oh i know...who cares..right?)
