AMANDA GHOST 'BLOOD ON THE LINE'
Amanda Ghost takes the traditional image of a singer/songwriter and turns it on it’s head. Possibly best-known as the co-writer of the hideously catchy mega-hit ‘You’re Beautiful’ on James Blunt’s debut album ‘Bedlam’, Amanda Ghost actually thinks of herself as a singer first and songwriter second. In fact she had been in and out of a big money deal with Warners (US) before she collaborated with James. Releasing a critically well received album ‘Ghost Stories’ in 2001, including the singles ‘Filthy Mind’ US club smash and ‘Idol’. Her music is a blend of styles that have defy categorisation, but it is her voice that makes her stand out from the crowd. According to the The Daily Telegraph: ‘She sings in the key of heartbreak, with a voice that is a blend of Stevie Nicks and Edith Piaf, sometimes wistful, sometimes angry but always honest’ and she actually recently collaborated with Stevie Nicks on songs for her upcoming album. Joni Mitchell has declared Amanda’s song ‘Blood On The Line’ to be, ‘One of the best songs of the last ten years’.

Her brush with the major label ‘a depressingly familiar tale of a typical big hype signing; moving to LA; changes of personnel within the label; mystifying lack of A&R support and promotion and eventual resort to attorneys to extricate herself convinced Amanda of two things: one - she wanted to be in a band, and two - she wanted the band to control its own destiny. For the past couple of years she has worked and performed with her long-term collaborator and partner in Amanda Ghost Ian Dench. Ian himself has an international reputation as a songwriter having written the punk standard ‘Unbelievable a worldwide hit for EMF, of which Ian was the guitarist and founder member. Their album is scheduled for release in early 2007 on the Band’s own label, Plan A Records. This release will be preceded by 2 EPs the first of which is a limited edition 3 track EP entitled ‘Blood On The Line’ produced by Dave McCracken (Depeche Mode/Ian Brown) and featuring live performance band members Richie Stevens (drums/percussion) and Hide (bass).

I can't find a single other place on the internet that talks about a song called "The Ghost is Gone".

I can't stand her album - it is truly one of the most average and uninspired albums I have ever heard. I think Amanda Ghost is really over-hyped, all because Joni Mitchell said something good about her...

It's an ambiguous sentence, but there's been nothing to indicate that Stevie has been working on a new album, and everything to indicate that she hasn't. The writer likely meant that Amanda Ghost was collaborating with Stevie on songs for her own upcoming album.

You know that's kind of weird. I first heard her on the Sweet November soundtrack that I bought for Stevie's "Touched by An Angel," and I fell in love with her song on there "Cellophane," which is a great one. And I remember thinking at the time, seeing how she had that raspy kind of voice, that she would sound great singing with Stevie.
