Can anyone tell me if Stevie REALLY answers those questions. I have read many times that she hates computers and doesn't type. Also...does anyone think the answers don't sound like her? Whats up with all the exclamation points?!!! The answers seem to "cutesy" for SN. Is it just me?

The question about what she will do now that the AU tour is over....spend time w the yorkies? C'mon.

The question about myspace.com.....does she even know what it is?

I mean...I like to read them...it just all seems so odd.

:woohoo: hi there :) I see what you mean. I guess it's a trust issue LOL...I mean, we assume that Stevie DOES answer them, since the Nicksfix DOES represent her, you know? I agree with you. I don't think she spends all her time with her yorkies. In her recent Aussie interview, she stated that she can't be home for too long, because she starts to wander around the house wondering what do I do??!!! LOL I am pretty positive she has been working on several things inbetween...the aussie dvd/cd/whatever  , the dates she'll join Petty on, and maybe even some things regarding the Rumors 30th anniv. tour in 2007...We all are pretty sure she isn't a technology person....I personally get irritated by it sometimes, yet I have to appreciate it!! SHe is going to CROSS PATHS WITH IT FROM TIME TO TIME LOL   All in all, I think you are right to question those things, since Stevie never fails to impress us, and....intrigue us ;)

i think that stuff about her and computers is waaaaaaay outdated. she uses computers the same as we all do. she emails, she knows what myspace is enough to call it evil, for goodness sake.

do i personally think she answers the questions? yes. do i wish she answered them a little more indepth? also yes.

I don't think she answers all of them, because most of those answers have almost no personality:confused: and we noe that she has lots of personality. but, once in a blue moon, we find one that that sounds almost exactly like what she would say. but i dont waste my time waiting for answers on ask stevie. just g to inherownwords.com. she talkss about everything there

Hmmm this is a good question. On one hand i of course would like to believe that yes indeed it is Stevie, though on the other hand there is also that repeating doubt that its not... and its hard to know stevie's responses from one day to the next as her answers change with her outfits! maybe its a different stevie in each outfit... ok ok im just joking around now.

If I had to guess, I would say Stevie does not sit down at a computer, read a bunch of questions, and type out her answers in an e-mail to John Kinney. Much more likely, I think, is what other people have suggested: Somebody (probably her "personal assistant") reads the questions to her and she dictates an answer. How faithfully that answer is written downwould be the crux of the matter - most of what ends up on the NicksFix looks like little more than the "gist" of what Stevie might say.

I definitely think the answers are Stevie's own, and pretty close to her own words. It's just a shame there isn't more depth to them. But I'm glad they're starting to roll in again after an absence of God knows how long.

I too, think they are Stevie's own typed answers. It's not like she does tons at a time, which makes me believe it really is her. As far as the recent "cutesy" answers go, I think maybe she was just in a really good mood when she happened to be answering questions at that time.

I have to agree...this is my guess as well. I don't get a feeling that these are straight from Stevie's fingertips. she's too chatty to give such concise, cold responses.

Question 139 - from Tim in Brisbane, Australia
Hi Stevie, I saw you twice on the Aussie tour, Brisbane and the Gold Coast. You are bloody awesome... both shows rocked! I was wondering if you get the chance to see any sights while you travel or is a work thing only...
ps - thanks for introducing Vanessa Carlton to us - she was truly lovely... and for always supporting the troops, there are alot of Australian's in Iraq and Afghanastain and it is cool to know that you support them being there, trying to do something for that part of the world. God Bless us all in the current environment.... Love Tim

Stevie's answer: Hi Tim, for me it’s pretty much all work when I am on tour. However, I did vacation for a couple of days after the tour in Sydney. We went on a fabulous cruise of Sydney Harbour for 6 hours, and had a wonderful dinner at Doyles!

Question 138 - from Tish in Las Vegas
Will you be working more in Las Vegas?

Stevie's answer: I certainly hope so, I like Las Vegas!

Question 137 - from Todd in Fort Lauderdale
Dear Stevie, When the pressures of life become too much, what is your favorite vacation spot?

Stevie's answer: Hawaii!

Question 136 - from Jonathan in Northampton, Massachusetts
Stevie, now that the Australia/New Zealand tour is ended, whats the first thing you do when you get home from the road? ps. get back out there soon we miss you!

Stevie's answer: Spend time with my Yorkie that I couldn’t take with me to Australia!!!!

Have you been following any of John McVie's Q&A, as a good counter-example? There's a man who knows how to provide a good, thoughtful, and often funny answer to a question. Although admittedly, he's gotten better questions than Stevie seems to get.

It's the same reason I get annoyed when somebody starts a "What's your favorite song on this album?" thread and people respond with nothing more than song titles. Yeah, great. Technically you answered the question, but you've said absolutely nothing of interest. Who wants to just read a bunch of song titles?

Sam deal with Stevie. Hey Stevie, where do you like to vacation? "Hawaii!" Okay, great, and? Why do you like it? What do you like to do while you're there? How often do you go? How do you feel about full sentences? Throw the people a bone here, woman! (That said, her answer to the question about seeing the sights in Australia was quite a bit better. If only all of them were like that.)

IMO opinions are just that...
whether peeps choose for short and sweet
or long-winded and varied...they are entitled to it

i become annoyed mosttimes when peeps
choose to jump on these opinions with the
wish that the person would have written it
differently...the way they would have...
whats the point in that? we may as well be
typing to ourselves for the 'perfection' seeked

I certainly don't expect or want people to write their posts the way I write mine, or to always have the same opinion as me. Actually, I love reading different people's opinions, and I love learning new ways to listen to a song based on what people say they get out of it. I really am interested to know what other people think. So I'm all about different opinions, expressed in different ways. But a song title ain't an opinion. "What's the point in that?" is what I constantly say to myself when I see those types of posts, because indeed, I could (and did) just type out all of the Mirage song titles to myself.

I think Stevie probably gets asked just as interesting questions, but the powers that be don't appear to think they're appropiate - or maybe it's even Stevie herself.
I know I and others have submited questions that are far more thoughtful than (real questions here): can I be your backup singer or why did you say "this is for you daddy" before Landslide (Stevie's answer "I was dedicating the song to my father.")
Lori and the other backing singers' questions are even worst they're almost always "what's your favourite Stevie song to sing"? And yet even they deem it worthy to answer the same questions over and over.

But Stevie's answers are easily the worst thing about Ask Stevie.

These are some of the worst:

Hi Stevie,
I was wondering what inspired you to write the song Jane and how it came about?

Thank You

Stevie's answer:

It was inspired by Jane Goodall.

Dear Stevie,
Your music is very honest and covers the good and the bad in life, but it is always a positive experience....very uplifting. I'm curious about what you personally think of the increasing number of bands who seem only to communicate violence or destructive attitudes in their songs.

Stevie's answer:

They scare me!

Poets, Legands, Priests of nothing. I love the vibration of these words together. I would greatly appreciate the true meaning of "priests of nothing."

Stevie's answer:

It means the master of nothing.

Thanks for the insight Stevie

On your song illume on the Fleetwood Mac album called "Say You Will", what does Illume mean??

Stevie's answer:

Still having hope in a very bad situation.

(What a great answer this could have been)

You've had many dreams come true, but if you were granted one wish, what would it be?

Stevie's answer:

If I had one wish, it would be for world peace….

I'm convinced that all these questions are screened before they reach Ms. Nicks, so yeah, when I say I think she gets less interesting questions, I mean she has less interesting questions given to her by the people who filter out the good stuff.

I'm sorry I didn't see this thread earlier, but I remembered starting a thread a few years ago about this and was able to pull it up on a search. I will cut and paste my initial post in the thread (from October 2001):

I wrote the Nicksfix w/ some suggestions and received a very thoughtful response. I will post both:
Dear Mr. Kinney,
I wanted to offer some ideas for the Nicksfix. There seems to be a fair amount of fans who feel Stevie is very removed from her fans and question whether she evens writes the very short answers to her Q. & A. Perhaps when there are forms for Christmas or birthday greetings at the Nicksfix, the e-mail addresses from senders could be automatically collected. Stevie could then write a short note to those fans that could be sent out to that list. Or perhaps a note automatically sent to those who send in questions that read something like "Hello and thank you for your interest in sending me questions at the Nicksfix. I am sorry time does not all me to answer them all, but I will try to get to as many as I can. All my love, Stevie Nicks.".
I'm not sure how much direct contact you have with Stevie but it seems like she could even dictate a short response for people who send in questions, birthday greetings and Christmas greetings in a very short time. I also am not terribly computer adept but I would imagine there are programs that could collect the e-mail addresses and send the responses to them directly.
Personally I have sent fan letters over the years and sent messages and questions through your forms numerous times. I've never received any type of response. I understand that Stevie would never have time to answer every single message she received, but I think many fans would be overwhelmed to even receive a group e-mail.
Just a thought-thanks for your consideration and for running such a great site.
Sincerely,
Ricoh Vigen
p.s. I was also thinking maybe on the Nicksfix you could have a section about your experience as a fan, what led you to making the site and then how it went on to become the "official site", and your experience of meeting or working with Stevie. Was she what you thought she'd be like? Do you work with her much personally? Does she have much input as to what is posted on the site? e.g. Does her camp supply you with pictures for the "weekly picture" or ever come up with ideas or information for the site to keep it interesting and fresh? These are just curiosities that I think I share with other fans. Thanks again!

John Kinney's response:

Hi Ricoh,

Thanks for the comments and question. I know Stevie's answers are often short, but I think it's just a time issue...she tries to do as many as she can with the time allowed. I usually send her a batch of maybe 20 and she answers them all and sends them back. I then post them slowly over a week or so. Stevie does answer her greetings as a group response typically. She just did that earlier this summer for her birthday. I usually ask her to do it in her own handwriting so people know it's her answering and not her assistant. I'm happy she does this forum and I won't make too many suggestions that she change the way she does it.

We have about 5000 questions in the queue now for Ask Stevie so I'm not surprised that yours may not have been answered. She agreed to answer them as her time allowss and I'm OK with that. She often takes time to share other things with her fans such as her 911 journal and the recent Thanksgiving message to the troops. I think she does OK. Here are some of the replies I mentioned:

http://www.nicksfix.com/birthday_note_2004.htm
http://www.nicksfix.com/stevies_journal.htm
http://www.nicksfix.com/thanksgiving2004.htm
http://www.nicksfix.com/letter_to_troops_mar18_2003.htm
http://www.nicksfix.com/birthday_note_2002.gif

Stevie also goes through a lot of fan mail. I get a handfull of cards and letters every day and I box them up and send them to her when I fill up a box. I'm sure she's overwhelmed, but she took time to send autographed photos to many of them while catching up after the FWMac tour. They had really piled up.

Regarding my experience as a fan...I actually prefer to work behind the scenes. The tourbook for Stevie's last solo tour had a page devoted to the Nicks Fix and told my story there. That's really more attention than I am comfortable with.

Another feature we will be adding over the holidays is the "Ask the backup singer" section, where fans can ask questions of Sharon and Lori. I have had a lot of interest in this in my personal polls.

I hope this answered most of your questions. Thanks again for your comments and suggestions..they are always welcome.

regards,
john

I just thought thought I would post these as it does make me beleive Stevie writes her responses and I beleive John wants to keep that credibility. I'm looking forward to the "Ask the Back-up Singer" section!!!

Question 142 - from Mark in Niceville, FL
What one thing led you to go to Walter Reed Medical Center to see the American GI's from Iraq? I am so glad you did it meant everything to them and your words in your journal show what a wonderful heart you have. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Stevie's answer: My manager, who also handles Chris Isaak, had been to WRAMC with Chris. When we were scheduled to have a couple of days off in DC during our tour, she asked if I would want to go and visit the troops. And there changed my life~

Question 141 - from Maureen in Phoenix
Stevie, in both music videos "Stand Back" and "Gypsy," you slow danced. I read somewhere that during a concert, more recent than later, you and Lindsey slow danced to "Tusk" and I was just wondering...is slow dancing something you really enjoy doing?
THANK YOU so much!

Stevie's answer: ABSOLUTLEY! I like to slow dance whenever possible, I even slow dance by myself during my solo shows!
