View Full Version : Do you have a secret?

I saw a documentary tonight that reminded me that I do. I have two, actually. One that only a handful of people know about. The other - only my older sister knows about. Sometimes it's hard not to tell people, because I feel the need to talk about them - but the pain that would come along with is just too overwhelming and/or scary to risk.
So just curious... does anyone else here have a secret?

I do. They're secrets not because I'm ashamed of them, but because they might offend others. Some people know.

Anybody who says "no" is lying, or they're starving for attention to a ridiculous level.

Yep. My secret attraction to Sideshow Bob.
Oh wait. That's not a secret.
But apart from that -- yes. Though a couple of people do know about it, I'd rather they didn't. Which is kinda tough to deal with.

I have many...
by the way-they are called secrets because you don't share them with others-at least that is my idea of a secret- I have personal issues that are private that I have shared with my best friend or friends...
but secrets? they are mine to hold
just my 2 cents-

couldn't agree more. we can share our secrets anytime... it is our prerogative only... but we can also choose to hold on to them.

As far as secrets that absolutely no one knows about - no, I actually don't think I do...at least one person knows even my worst "secret."
Oh - actually I have one...and even then I'm not sure that one or two other people don't know.... I may never know, and even though I've wanted to tell folks for a while - I don't.
I'm such an open person - I was actually really excited when I realized I had some "secrets" lol...

Yes, actually, I have quite a few. There are lots of things that I'm pretty open about, and then there are a few things that I tell no one. There are certin things I like to keep very personal.
Who doesn't?
It's time to confess....
I like When I See You Again

Seriously, of course I have secrets. One that doesn't matter so much anymore, but people still don't know.

I don't think I have any true secrets (things that only I know) but there are plenty of things that I keep secret from certain people.
Like the fact that I have a crush on one of my female (and unfortunately hetero) co-workers.

Of course. But most of the personal ones I dont keep very long because I feel it's better to get some things out in the open than to keep them inside.:)

If it makes you feel any better, the straight guys that I like always end up being married, otherwise unavailable, or just flat out not interested.
So either way I'm screwed.

I usually end up being liked by guys that go beyond just not interesting me. Rather, I find them absolutely repulsive - like the 415 pounder who wanted to lactate for me.
And I wish I was kidding when I said that, but I wasn't. Incidentally, he wasn't kidding either.

 How awful  Funny though...
I remember about 5 months ago - I was out clubbing and I got asked by this 40 something year old creepy man if I wanted to have an orgy with him  I get asked every time I go clubbing if I want to either join a threesome or an orgy - thus the reason I hate clubbing - its just a meat market :distress:
Miss Vicky

thus the reason I hate clubbing
I'm kind of an anti-social. So I've never gone clubbing but end up meeting people in other situations.
"Mammary Man" for example, was someone that a friend of mine had become acquainted with on the internet when she went looking for a work-out partner and agreed to meet him. After having had a negative experience with meeting someone from the internet myself, I told my friend that she was not allowed to meet this guy alone and that I had to come with her. UGH. If only I'd just let her take the chance by herself.
After I rejected him, he threatened to kill himself. My response? "Go ahead."

i keep hoping i'll meet that person i can trust enough to tell. i think i'd go insane if i couldn't tell anyone something really deep and important in my life (thank goodness for sisters).
so now.... why does everyone KEEP their secrets? i know i keep the two i keep for fear of being unfairly judged for them. my sister can know because, well, she's my sister. but is this why people keep their secrets?
(i don't know why i'm so fascinated by this this weekend - but i've been thinking a lot about it)
by the way, this:
"We dance 'round in a ring and suppose -- while the secret sits in the middle and knows...." - Robert Frost

  Well after being told he wanted to lactate you Im not entirely sure I wouldn't say the same thing.
Im becoming less social myself - I hate the whole clubbing scene - although it is alot of fun. I just don't know how else to meet guys. But all the guys want at a club is to hook up, so I guess Im in a lose-lose situation myself

People keep telling me that I should try the club scene since I'm not having any luck finding someone otherwise, but the whole dancing/big crowds thing just isn't me. I suppose I could try it and pretend that I'm enjoying myself, but what would be the point of that?

If you don't enjoy it, don't do it. I often feel peer-pressured by people that if I don't go out clubbing I must be a loser. I guess its just a teen thing
I actually went to a meeting last night in the city for GLBT youth which was interesting - lots of gorgeous girls (one of them was soo freakin gorgeous - I mean she looked like she was a model) but the guys all seemed to be efeminate and bitchy which does nothing for me at all - Im really having trouble meeting the kind of guys I actually like :distress:

My roommate loves to go out clubbing and I go sometimes but have gotten bored with it. The last time we went to a club I was like, "These guys are all assholes, they always are." Which is true but I guess that is kind of a downer when you are out trying to have a good time. I think I pissed her off. But going out once in a while can be fun.
I went out Sat to see my favorite local cover band, the bassist is so freaking cute, I just wind up dancing right in front of him every time. :o I'm shameless. :D They're so fun though and an excellent band. The singer just had an audition for the band Fuel.
I have a better time doing that than going out to a dance club. At least there are some real people when you go see a band and not mostly shallow types. I still have never met anyone that way though. You don't meet people out at clubs with any real promise. You meet them through your friends/family or at work. Or, I am hoping, through an online dating service.
As far as secrets, no I don't have any. I have a blabber mouth and have told at least one person any one of my "secrets". Either that or I had a witness.

Bass players are the best. I met my favorite boyfriend in a bar, "his" band was playing (he played bass). I've met a few other of my boyfriends in bars, too, and they were mostly musicians. So, you can meet cool people in bars. I"m not sure about club clubs...

Thats cos' bass players are usually normal people.
Singers are vain and insecure, guitarists are self indulgent egomaniacs, keyboard players are anal retentives and drummers tend to be homocidal or suicidal.
In my experience anyway.
If you want a rock 'n' roll life forget dating a bass player. But if you need some shelves putting up then you've found the man.

Yeah, that's why I said that. I like drummers okay, too, sometimes - but bass players first, and I try not to date lead guitarist/singers. Actually, I try not to date any musicians at all, but somehow that really didn't work out all through my twenties. I think I've had only 2 non musician boyfriends out of...6.

Are you a self-indulgent egomaniac? Their guitarist is very socially awkward, I've yet to have a conversation with him. The singer is actually very nice, it is almost shocking how nice he is when you talk to him. The drummer, I don't know, I have never talked to him either. Not very friendly. The bass player is also very nice which also surprised me at first.

I'm not an egomanic no.. But I have been known to be self indulgent at times. :p
I'd also add, in relation to your point that I agree. Guitarists tend to be socially awkward. Most are reasonably introverted offstage. Keith Richards, in the news this week is like that. He's a quiet and introverted guy who is quite shy. But put him on a stage and thats where the charm comes out.

Oh, yeah, it worked here at work, but not at home.
I like him, he's all beefy. I noticed lots of times the singers and guitarists are thin, too, and the bassist will have a bit more meat. I don't like skinny men.
