View Full Version : Trouble Keeping Up with the News?...

I was just wondering . . . For those who follow the news on a regular basis (cnn.com, msnbc.com, etc.), have you had trouble keeping up lately? I don't mean in terms of not feeling like it, I mean more like, in the past two weeks or so there's been SO MANY "Major Stories" that it's hard to find time to read them all. I remember in past weeks I would read what I would consider to be one or maybe two Major Stories per day - right now I have 8 different Major Stories to read; all from today. I don't think the way I view them (major vs. minor) has changed, there really does seem to be that much going on lately!

Has anyone else been experiencing this in the past few weeks or so???

Yes, I've noticed that as well. It's hard sometimes to grasp it all.

I don't find it too hard - I just intentionally ignore the stories blatantly created to distract or scare, the ones I can't do anything about (in the short term), or the ones I could give a crap about:

- Bird flu
- Global warming
- Online predators/MySpace/Internet porn
- Natalee Holloway
- Duke rape case
- TomKat

That's a 50-60% reduction right there. I'm not saying these topics have no value and shouldn't be covered - it's the lopsided water-cooler faux urgency ascribed to them that bugs me.
