Am I the only person here who has trouble sitting down and listening to a full album right off the bat?

I usually have to ease myself into an album, by taking it a track at a time but for the people that can, how do you do it?

I find that if I have something else to do, like read, driving or paint etc. I can pop an album on and listen to it in its entirety, but I always get antsy to change the track.

Can anybody help me with this problem

I have to change, too - because I usually don't like a lot of the songs when I first get the album, and want to find the good ones.
Then for a long time I listen to only the songs I liked right away.
Then very slowly I'll get used to the songs I didn't like as much originally, then after awhile I may grow to like them very much. That is especially true for quite a few of Stevie's songs.
I can listen to a whole album if I'm thinking about something else, as well.

So I can't help you.
But that is why I am so happy when someone puts out an entire album that I think is good.

I'm the same way. What I do to listen to the whole thing is to either play it while I'm at my desk at work, or while I'm cleaning at home. That way, I won't flip through the songs and I can let them ease their way into my subconscious. ;)

I'm kind of add in that way too. I sometimes pick out favorites and head right to them.

If you have access to a turntable, listen to the vinyl rather than the CD. It's a bigger pain in the ass to change songs on LP, so the temptation kinda goes away.

Vinyl > CDs, etc.

There are too many songs I didn't like at first that soon became my favourites because I resisted skipping through them in order to listen to albums in their entirety. Some albums need to be listened to all the way through in order to appreciate them.

I have been listening to a few albums that I have not listened to in their enitrety before - and now I know why I couldn't listen to them.

I just finished listening to Pat Benetar's "Tropico" and it is awful. I listened to Paula Abdul's "Head Over Heels" and David Bowie's "Hours..." and I feel insane from all the crap that has gone through my head

Ah yes, well, one of the things that really helps you to listen to albums all the way through is to buy good albums.

 Yes, well - you don't know if they are good albums unless you listen to them do you? :D

I usually have the same problem. There are only a couple of albums that I listen to their entirety (hmm, perhaps Roxy Music Live or a couple of Massive Attack albums).
But I guess t's normal. It's impossible to like all the songs, even when it comes to your favorite artists.
However, what I have noticed is that some songs that I used to skip eventually became my favorite tracks. :o Example: I didn't like Peacekeeper on Say you will, but after listening to it a couple of times, I never skip it anymore.
