ALL-righty I thought this could be an interesting thread -
What is the BEST thing that Stevie has EVER said? ( Wisest, most profound, most helpful to you personally, etc. ) Either in a song, an interview, a journal entry, w/e, it's all good.
I have my own opinion already but I'm curious to see what others might say about this first. . . . . :D

Also, another time she said, "We are such stuff as dreams are made on." I. Was. Quite. Impressed.
But the wisest thing she ever said was, "There is no beauty/Without my beast."

Maybe you never knew me
Maybe you thought that I'd never
CHANGE
But you know I'm changing and
YOU'RE WRONG
is very fitting at this point in my life
but my profoundest thing ever, coz I think it is true
and it's totally what I believe
'I love people that are really themselves and go right on being themselves no matter what anybody tells you because, you know, in the long run, you are going to be with yourself.'

Maybe you never knew me
Maybe you thought that I'd never
CHANGE
But you know I'm changing and
YOU'RE WRONG
And its been like dying
Oh loves not hard to find,
but Im tired of,
I am tired of trying
So I changed the lyrics slightly
Great Stevie line none the less

My favourite Stevie line ever is "If you f@#k with my people, I am going to get very f#@$%ng angry!" - I hope that is right.

Don't forget about the "if Lindsey and I explode into a mass of timbers, at least the album will be done and thats all that matters" or words to that effect in the DR dvd.

At the RAL concert, just before she did HAEWYFY, she said something along the lines of how much she loved us and how she wished she could sit down with us individually and hang out and talk because we were her WHOLE LIFE. My father had just died and that song was really powerful for me, so when she said all that, I just burst into tears. :o

Something about this lyric gets me everytime. So much imagery that let's me go somewhere else in my mind:
Step into the velvet of the morning
Let yourself lay back within your dreams

Personally, I think "step into the velvet of the morning" is a Stevie metaphor for masturbation.

well on a funny note, I loved it when Stevie was on Jay Leno promotiong TISL and when Jay asked her paper or plastic, she said "If I ever went to the market, I would say cash".....then....."no no, I was no inspired by the OJ trial"

Nice, David. What is this, Confessions of a Dirty Mind?
I could almost see that except for the next 2 lines:
Take on the situation but not the torment
Now you know its not as bad as it seems

Nice, David. What is this, Confessions of a Dirty Mind? No, no....it's just that I believe that Stevie has been weakly misread, & that out of this misprision the steamily rubescent sexuality in her songs has been marginalized. I'd like to see critical analyses of that aspect of her art, to bring the erogenous zone to the center, as it were--similar to the way Camille Paglia strongly misread Emily Dickinson & restored Emily's vampirism, voyeurism, lesbianism & fetishism. Stevie is our modern-day DICKinson, I believe.
I could almost see that except for the next 2 lines:
Take on the situation but not the torment
Now you know its not as bad as it seemsWell maybe that part came from an adjoining or unrelated page in her journal.

Bwahahhahaha! Brilliant stuff.
I'm with David on this -- the final few lines of Beauty and the Best always get me. And a lot of Desert Angel too.
But my all time favourite?
"But honestly, they'll probably be wheeling me out onstage in a wheelchair with rhinestones and raven feathers hot-glued to it. You know me -- it has to be fabulous...So, if you're in the Haight 10 years from now and a blur of feathers and rhinestones whizzes past you on a rocket-powered wheelchair and someone goes, 'What was that?' you can say, 'Oh, that's Stevie.' Uhm, just to try to keep things "accurate" or whatever the word is, I believe she was quoting Shakespeare there.
(Or are you being sarcastic? I'm kinda clueless about when people are being sarcastic in here sometimes. )

Wake up in the morning
See your sunrise- loves- to go down
Lousy lovers- pick their prey
As for profound statement
You're sayin' I'm fragile, I try not to be
I search only for something I can't see
I have my own life and I am stronger than you know.....

I'm not sure if this is the fiercest or wisest thing that Stevie has ever said, but I thought it was a very poignant statement that she made in the January 14th entry of her journal. Maybe things she has said or written come across as the fiercest and wisest things, depending on what's going on in our lives at the moment. I took this to heart today.
"So all that said, what we try to do on our visits, is to use our power to call back that charmed, childlike innocence~ and the answer to that, in my opinion~ is music. Music gives you the strength to keep moving. Music inspires you. Inspired people don’t stay down. "

"I've ridden with you within the wind
As I am riding away with you now
I'm beginning to understand your pain
And it forces me to withdraw
And now the tears dry on my face
And leave behind them only ashes
And the beauty of you was just a dream
Of memories, earthquakes, and flashes"

Mine's very simple:
"Dream's Unwind - Love's A State of Mind" - when I was going thru my divorce, that one just all of a sudden smacked me in the face - especially the "love's a state of mind" - and I thought "how VERY true and wise!"

I know this isn't wise or fierce, but I love it in the BTM when she says, "I knew I was going to have to quit doing drugs or I wouldn't be able to 'rock a little' anymore."
The unabashed cheesiness of punning her own album title like that is just priceless to me. That? is rich
I've always also loved this line from Belladonna:
"and the woman may be so awestruck
and the woman may truly care
but the woman is so tired....
so the woman disappears"
Chilling!
