This just in from Syd, resident Lindsey fan

For anyone that got to attend Lindsey's soundstage, didn't he seem to love what he was doing, being on stage and performing? I'll remember it always. So he needed a break. Stevie didn't. Where is this new cd and doesn't he miss performing. He's still doing things here and there like this:

LINDSEY PERFORMS AT SALUTE TO INDUSTRY ICONS 02.09.2006

On February 8th, 2006, Lindsey performed his song "Big Love" at the Salute to Industry Icons after The 48th Annual GRAMMY Awards. This event honored Mo Ostin, former chairman of Warner-Reprise Records.

and he did the Elizabethtown soundtracks and he's also doing some school benefit thing at his kid's school BUT where is he now with that new cd? Is he just doing this stuff to entertain himself or does he ever plan to come out again on his own? I think just Fleetwood Mac in 2007 and then he will retire. It seems somebody from his old group is promoting Buckingham Nicks more than Lindsey is promoting himself. I heard some interview with the guy from Warner Brothers who was in the VH1 documentary and he was talking about new bands and how he's promoting them. He's really into Green Day right now. He didn't mention Fleetwood Mac when he was asked who he had worked with. Is Lindsey just too damn old or just not a hot enough commodity to sell anymore? Is even Fleetwood Mac except for their anniversary thing which Warner Brothers would probably have to promote? Maybe Lindsey just packed it in and accepted that his cd wouldn't be successful so he's doing functions and playing schools because either he's a settled down married guy with kids and no longer the rock star or because he just gave up on his dream?

Thanks for listening.

First off, I'd like to proclaim that this is my first post here at the ledge, and it is gladly that I step forth from the pale shadow of lurkerdom!

Fear not, oh fan of mac, our dear Lindsey will find an outlet for his music.
It might take some time, but when has that not been a factor with Lindsey's Music. At present, I can find no evidence that Lindsey has signed to any label. (even though I've heard it said he's at Reprise, I can't find him listed as an artist on the website). But that doesn't mean much these days. Many veteran artists, such as Annie Lennox are LOOKING FORWARD to the end of their music company contracts so that they can market their own artistic endeavors through their respective websites. This route would be advantagous for Lindsey for two reasons:
1. He can overwork a song as lovingly as he deems fit and then release it into the world via his website where fans can purchase the track while he continues crafting songs for the would be package deal of "a whole album" without the fans having to wait for him to finish it. I think if Lindsey can embrace the fact that the art of crafting an album's running order is sadly not as important as it once was, he could produce many good things to come. (many people don't want to dump upwards of 20 bucks on a cd that might only have one good song. they'd rather go to itunes or the like and pay for the one they want) So I don't think it'll be long til artists embrace this fact and sell their own tracks on their websites. All flowers in time, and Lindsey's music will find a home when he either goes independent or markets himself via the web.

Remember, he has three kids to put through school, and they're still very young. I know he's saved a buck or two, but he'll need to work to keep up the reserve. And though, he could find work producing/bringing up young artists, working as a studio muscian or the like, Lindsey is such the tormented artist, that he couldn't give it up, not yet anyway.

He's got one "released album" in him and then after that, skys the limit if he embraces the web.

I'd say he's busy raising his three little ones. As far as something solo, I don't think so. With FM, I'd say definately.

And welcome to the board :wavey:
