Anyway...I've been away from the The Ledge for awhile. (big deal I know). As many of you know, I had let the news out that my dad was sick with CNS lymphoma and wasn't doing well at all. Well I am more than proud to announce that he is still alive, and doing strangely well. The doctors are LITERALLY baffled. Most of the patients with CNS do not live past a certain point, and my father has just fought tooth and nail. I wanted to say I appreciate all the thoughts and prayers. He's not thru the woods yet though. He's lost most of his short term memory which is so disheartening, but he can remember things that happened months ago. So I guess it could be worse and he'd be completely amnesiatic. My sister who I recently helped move to Atlanta, had a change of heart and moved back to Little Rock to watch after my dad. My father's wife, Sherry, offered to pay my sisters bills if she would come and look after dad throughout the day. I think my dad is happier with Megan at home rather than a hospice nurse all the time. Anyway...that's the update, and I love you guys.

Brandon... I was just thinking about you and your father the other day. Having not seen you around the Ledge for a while, I was worried he took a turn for the worse. I'm very glad to hear that he's doing better than anyone expected, and I hope his condition continues to improve.

You've been missed, Ponyboy! :xoxo:

That is exactly what happened to dad. We were all prepared for the worse. It did get real bad for awhile. He was hallucinating and talking to people in his room that werent there. But he's managed to pull thru, and gain back some weight from the next-to-nothing 120 lbs he got down to.

That's big news. Glad it all worked out for the better! It put a big smile on my face, especially the part where doctors are baffled. Just perfect. There is no limit to the human spirit.

Yet David, you're in your early 60s! What are ya, from Kentucky?(I realize that's a joke that only Midwesterners could appreciate!) (sorry 'tuckians)

Brandon, glad your Dad's doing okay. My Mom had pancreatic cancer, and was given 3-4 months. She lived just over two years, and it was all pretty good times, except for the last 10 days or so. Six or so times the amount of time she was given.
We lived every day, talking about what we were going to do tomorrow.....I DO think that was an integral part. BEST WISHES TO YOUR DAD.

Having grown up in Southern IL, and being quite familiar with Southern IN and OH, I have concluded there's no difference between those regions and Kentucky. In fact, those Southern Ohioans might be worse. :woohoo:

WB. I'm glad to hear about your dad, and I'm sure you're right about Megan.
My grandma had that, as well (I don't know if it was CNS, but she had lymphoma), and she's been fine for about...3 years now? So it's a great sign that your dad is doing well.
Take Care

We never even HEARD Ohio jokes, let alone(of course) Hoosier jokes! We told KY jokes daily!
Okay, I feel bad turning this thread into one of my silly jokes, so....I'll leave you on this with my favorite Hoosier joke.
Do you know how many Hoosiers it takes, to screw in a lightbulb?

Two very tiny ones!  I love that joke!(obviously, you can use that joke for anything)

Wow, I'm happy to hear that your Dad's shown improvement! Its wonderful of your sister to move back, she will have nothing to regret having done it. I'm sure it is really good for your Dad and also the rest of the family. Everyone knows he's in good hands and can worry a little less. I hope, of course, that he continues to baffle the doctors!

I saw my uncle Joe 2 weeks ago. He has lung cancer and did well for a long time but has been declining. His daughter has been taking care of him on weekends for the year he's been sick. She lives in upstate NY and drives 5 hours to come down to take care of him on the Cape. He loves it, it's been really good for him. She's helped him alot with the nausea, she is a doctor and very intuitive so came up with creative ways to help him. I think they've both benefitted alot from her care.

I'm so glad your dad is doing well- I work as a volunteer for Hospice, so I know that doesn't happen very often. I love it when doctors are baffled, too! I'm also glad your sister is there- I know that means a lot. Take care and enjoy this precious time. xo

HA! I actually had re-recorded the "murrow" solo for Sara and Lauren but it was the "SYW" album version not the SoundStage. I had it uploaded on my work laptop as a small JPEG file. Well NOW...I can't access ZIP files on my computer for some strange reason. It says there is a block on file sharing or something of that nature.

Thank you all for the kind words and expression of concern about my dad. I mean it when I say its been an encouragement to me, and I tell my dad that all my "friends" have been praying and hoping for the best. I think it helped him too! Lots of love
