I know I should be posting this in the FM forum, but who else thinks that the Black Eyed Peas are trying to copy Fleetwood Mac's style? I think it's ridiculous that they think they can!!

Isn't imitation supposed to be the highest form of flattery?

I think Fergie is cool, anyway!

now ya know Stevieness is already prone to shakin her hump on stage.....R&R anyone  so i think it's a safe assumption to make that this song is a homage to her.

AND

in that respect
i think it only fair that she be offered a cameo :p

Actually, after listening to one of the Black Eyed Peas' albums (this was long before I read this post, probably a few months ago), I had come to the conclusion that they were the hip-hop counterpart to Fleetwood Mac, at least, as far as crossing over to different genres of music and not being afraid to be different. Just my opinion, anyhow.... :)

I think Fergie is cool, anyway!

I can take Lindsay Lohan, Mary-Kate/Ashley Olsen (whichever twin is copying her now!) or even Courtney Love  But I draw the line at Fergie...Stacy Ferguson is no comparison whatsoever to Stevie! Now, she does seem to have an alcohol/drug problem lately...just look at her latest antics! She arrives late to most of her performances, and when she did at one of them she was also very drunk and...SHE WET HER PANTS during the show! Gives new meaning to BLACK EYED PEES

Now I used to like her as a kid...I truly did! I watched her on Kids Incorporated. I followed her career, along with Martika (Marta Marrero that is!) who is now in the band Oppera. In case you forgot about Kids, Inc. or you are too young to know what that show is about here's the opening sequence with Stacy and Martika:

Even the show with Alanis Morissette on Nickelodeon called "You Can't Do That On Television", which wasn't my favorite is hilarious for me to watch now! God, help me as I age...it all seems funnier somehow...I guess since I survived it all - well sane anyway.

You are older then me? I don't think so but I don't know your birthdate so I can't say for sure. What year did this 'Kids Inc" take place in anyway?

I fall into the 'too old to know who Kids Inc are" catagory.

I'm young enough to remember the show but I still fall into the "I don't give a damn" category.

With the exception of "My Hump" (which was, incidentally, written by one of the male members of BEP and NOT by Fergie) and "Let's Get Retarded," I like the Peas. I have their first album, Elephunk, and rather enjoy it.

And I still maintain that I see no similarities, in terms of musical style or dress, between The Black Eyed Peas and Fleetwood Mac. I also highly doubt that a group like that would list a - let's face it - dinosaur such as FM as one of their influences. Somehow I don't think that classic pop/rock had any effect on the sound of that group. Just my opinion.

Aired: 1984 - 1993
Show Type: Live Action
Country of Origin: US
Show Summary: Kids Incorporated (also known as Kids Inc.) was a children's television program that premiered in 1984 in syndication (On NBC from 1984-85) and on The Disney Channel 1986-96). Winner of various Young Artist Awards during its nine year run, it is remembered fondly by adults who were in their teens in the 1980s. The show's production companies included Hal Roach Studios (aka Qintex) and MGM (aka MGM-Pathe), both of whom had produced the popular Our Gang (Little Rascals) short films of the 1930s. This TV show launched the career of Thomas W. Lynch, who would go on to produce "The Secret Life of Alex Mack" and "Romeo!" among others.

The show consisted of a group of young teens (that occasionally shifted every few years as members grew too old to be "Kids" and were replaced) who performed cleaned up versions of pop music standards of the era, with most of the Kids noticeably pretending to play their own instruments (they did sing, though). Along the way, lessons were learned through the conflicts of the kids (e.g. the value of honesty, or why not to cheat on a test.)

Some very notable people that were on Kids Incorporated was Fergie from Black Eyed Peas also known as Stacy Ferguson, Eric Balfour (Six Feet Under; Sex, Lies, and Secrets), Jennifer Love Hewitt (Ghost Whisperer) and many more. A very good resource for mp3's, video, and tons of pictures is http://www.kidsincorporated.us

I was just old enough to catch the re-runs on the Disney Channel and was in love with Kids, Inc. Of course, I wanted to be Stacey (Fergie's real name). I was in love with those kids and when Stacey and the other girl, can't remember her name, who played her sister came out with a girl group, Wild Orchid, I was all over that too. They were bad, but a good bad...Talk To Me and Supernatural were their biggest songs. Believe it or not, Fergie/Stacey has a powerhouse voice. I am not crazy about her anymore, but I ain't hatin' either.

EXACTLY! And even as a kid I recognized how Martika (or Marta as she was known then) totally carried the show. She was a total star...and she had to leave early to pursue her career in the recording industry. An interesting tidbit is that Marta/Martika's Mom was Fergie's (Stacy Ferguson) as well as her own daughter's manager/representative! She continued that relationship at least through the paring of Stacy with the group Wild Orchid according to my friend in radio. I brought up her name to Martika once at a show and she had a sour face, so I don't think they are friends anymore. I wonder if Fergie got mad when Martika had a successful career back in the day and hers bombed with Wild Orchid? Hmmm...well, her second coming has been better than Martika's...BUT Martika has done it on her own terms the whole way. Martika's interesting collaborations that you may not be aware of were with Prince during her Martika's Kitchen CD (which I LOVE that song...you can sense his involvement in those song's lyrics!) and Eminem sampled her lyrics from Toy Soldiers in his new version of the hit song! His whole song was inspired by his hearing hers a while back...interesting huh!!!!

Would Fergie, as old as she actually is, have any idea who Stevie is?

Probably NOT! Especially since she's never developed a simple little thing we call TASTE! If you do a search under Wild Orchid and read about her (God help me, I was bored once and did this while searching for the link between her and Martika) and her issues. She practically broke up the last group, and the rumors seem true. Also, I'm not a fan of BEP...BUT it seems to me that the Will guy is the REAL TALENT behind this group. The other guys are ok, and Fergie is the harmony and EYE CANDY only. That is just my honest opinion.
