Isn't that weird how when we're talking about Stevie Nicks, we just say "Stevie" but nobody thinks we're talking aboutStevie Ray Vaughan. We don't even have to worry about it most of the time. It's just implied that we're talking about Stevie Nicks & not Stevie Ray Vaughan. And that's that. But what if...I'm not saying it happens every day but more like every year ATMOST ... I'mnot even sure how often or how little it happens. But what if like there was ONE person like two or five or something years ago who said Stevie but was not, I mean was actually REFERRING to Stevie Ray Vaughan and not to as we all assumed at the time Stevie Nicks??????

That would be so odd.

Well, sometimes I do it in my local biker bar, and they all go "you mean SRV?" and I'm like, yeah, cos he looked fabulous in chiffon! :)

Yes, just as odd as talking about Stevie Wonder.

Or Stevie Wonder or Stevie Winwood (well, he's kinda dropped the "ie" and just been "Steve" since the mid-70's)

Actually, to SRV fans, he's mainly referred to as "Stevie Ray" or "SRV".

But, I guess it depends on the context. HERE, "Stevie" means Stevie Nicks. At a Traffic or Steve Winwood board, "Stevie" would me Winwood. If you're on a Motown or Stevie Wonder board, "Stevie" would mean Mr. Wonder. If you're on a blues guitar board, "Stevie" would be SRV. and so on.

I don't know who Stevie Ray Vaughan is? I'll have to look it up.

Wow. That's shocking. He's one of the most amazing blues guitarist. Forget looking him up, go buy a CD.
The Essential Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble is a good start for the beginner. In Step is one of my fav albums though!

Stevie Wonder, Stevie Nicks, Stevie Winwood, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Stevie Denison :blob2: , The Stevie Awards (thats right, awards for American business, get successful and you can have your own Stevie!)

This band could have renamed themselves "Ste Mac" given that 3 members of the lineup had "vie" in their names. (call it Stew Mac and they could have set up a great guitar parts company. )

I thought this thread was Nicks vs SRV. In which case I was going to say never do a comparison with a dead musician. I once went through the whole Jimi vs Eric Clapton debate and it nearly killed me in the end...

For the record, I've never been a "Stevie." Even when I was a kid, it just didn't fit. Hell, I still catch ***** from some members of my family for going by "Steve."

On a side note, Double Trouble sometimes tours with Kenny Wayne Shepherd. I've seen them.

k... am i the only one who simply laughed out loud at this post, and silently appreciated the ever-so-slightly-warped but always-cleverly-amusing humour that is david?

psst... i don't think he was being serious! :wavey:
