I've been trying for quite a while to create the above (virtual) album and I'm still not quite there yet BUT......
Some interesting combinations have occurred:
Have you ever played Peacekeeper followed by Calumny?
And Say Goodbye followed by Givin it Back?
Sublime.
I've got 14 songs and 56.5 minutes (about right for someone like me who has the attention span of a retarded ant) Christine has five songs, Lindsey 5 and Stevie only has four becauseI don't much care for her Say You Will stuff (perhaps I would like the demos better?)
I'm nearly ready to commit to burning a CD

What's your track list, Gail? Which Christine songs are on it? I assume there's no "Come" & "Murrow".;) :D

There's no blistering rock & roll on your "album," Gail. Not even a decent lead guitar solo. Your track list is too languid. Snoozeville. Throw in some torching lead guitar songs--it doesn't matter what--just to vary the tone. Nobody likes a complete diet of old-fashioned Adult Contemporary any more. Shake it up, babe, shake it up. Live a little. Be young, be bright, be mad. Throw that window of yours open & yell, "I'm mad as hell & I'm not gonna take this **** no more!!!"

The songs are a personal choice - I wasn't asking or expecting anyone else to like it. (Other than pointing out a couple of IMO good combinations) The reason that there's no guitar solos is because I don't care for lead guitarists rambling on and on with interminable solos (torching or otherwise).
You think the list is too languid - for who?

The songs are a personal choice - I wasn't asking or expecting anyone else to like it. But I hope you were expecting replies. Whenever I post on the ledge, I expect replies. I don't always get them, but I always desire them. It's fun to get replies, Gail.

Spookily enough I didn't make the list for anyone else but me.
I started out by sharing the fact I'd found a couple of (to me) pleasing combinations. I then shared the whole track list in response to a reply.
If you don't like it that's fine, that's up to you - we're all entitled to our opinions.
But please don't tell me what should be on my track list

But please don't tell me what should be on my track listBut what's the point of a message board? I'm not actually forcing you at gunpoint to alter your list. I'm replying to your post because this is a forum for posting & replying. You're not literally being told what to do. You're being replied to.
for example, if I post: "I don't want to see another Meg Ryan movie, ever." And someone replies: "Go see the new movie with Meg Ryan, XXX, because it is outstanding & by missing it you are making a grave mistake & you're a bigger fool than your mama lets on." That person isn't literally giving me an order. It can't be enforced & isn't designed to be enforced. That person is posting a response to something I said. That's called conversation, Gail, & to a very large extent it's expected--even highly desired--on a forum like this.
Little did I know that you posted only for me to read, not to reply to. Had I known, I might have complied! :wavey:
"You need more bone-crunching lead guitar in your list" actually means (I don't mind interpreting this for you) "As far as I'm concerned, you need more bone-crunching lead guitar."
See how that works? It's cool!!

By purposely omitting "Come" and "Murrow," she's completely eliminated any chance of there being anything "rock" on her "virtual album." And, really, how could anything that's fused to "In the Meantime" be anything but your self-described "snoozeville"?
ITM is pleasant in a soothing, insomnia-curing kind of way but isn't something I'd like to listen to on any kind of regular basis.

As much as I like Friend, I don't think it'd work as an opener for an FM album. For ITM, yeah, because it fits in with the dynamic of the album... But not SYW. I think they'd need a Stevie or Lindsey opening song. I could do without Murrow, but the hormonally charged Lindsey fan in me has to have Come. (heh...)

I agree. I think What's The World Coming To is a great opener even if you squeezed ITM tracks into the album. I have done this, but limited Christine to only 4 tracks of my own Say You Will (Alternate) album.

Yeah, I really do like WTWCT as an opener either way. I don't know if I'd put Liar on the album at all. I'm surprised Anything Is Possible wasn't on there! I'd include it. As long as we stay away from Bad Journey, since listening to that *is*.

Also I saw them do Come at Earls Court and I found Lindsey's antics embarassing

Yeah, okay, whatever. All of In the Meantime makes me lose consciousness so I guess we're even.
As for antics, nothing's worse than Mick's "this is my excuse to touch myself in front of everybody" vest solo or Stevie's "I'm a Little Teapot" hand gestures during "Say You Will." Now those are embarrassing.

I like the concept of what I call "Say Time," which fuses Christine's "Time" material with my favorites from SYW. It's not for everybody, but I liked it!
What's The World Coming To
Hollywood (Some Other Kind Of Town)
Thrown Down
Miranda
Say You Will
I Do
Peacekeeper
Smile At You
Sooner Or Later
Steal Your Heart Away
Twisted
Bleed To Love Her
Nights In Estoril
Destiny Rules
All Over Again
Say Goodbye
Goodbye Baby

Now, this I could get behind if it weren't for the fact that Time was near perfection on it's own, especially with Billy and Bekka's contributions, and shouldn't be polluted with anything from SYW, especially the sleep inducing "Goodbye" songs and certainly not "Bleed to Love Her" (It still irritates me that it ended up on SYW to begin with.)

I like "You Are" a lot but I was trying to strike a balance. If I had included it I think I would have had to take of Friend and I couldn't do that.
I wasn't saying no one could discuss/critisize the list. We all have different opinsions and we all have the right to air them.
I was trying to come up with a track list that I could live with and not get bored with. It was mainly for me to listen to in the car.
What I objected to was being told what I can like and that I need to "live a little". Listening to Lindsey wailing on is not "living a little" (IMO)

The effect was even more pronounced on the tour (as Kristine McKenna -- or was it Connie Johnson -- even noted in her L.A. Times review of the Universal Amp show).
I didn't really mind it on the album, but I would agree about the tour. I loved the show I saw. It's the one and only time I'll ever see her live. But if I could have changed anything about it, I would have reigned in Todd's guitar solos. I'm not a big fan of guitar solos. I love piano solos though. The L.A. Times review wasn't the only one that complained about Todd's solos. The Philadelphia Inquirer reviewer said the same thing, although he liked Christine herself.

No..."The Challenge" was different. That wasn't Todd, that was Eric Clapton, so right there, that deflates your "interchangable" theory. You can't "interchange" a Clapton solo.

And check this out - no guitar solos (torching or otherwise)
My work here is done!
Thank you and goodnight.

No..."The Challenge" was different. That wasn't Todd, that was Eric Clapton, so right there, that deflates your "interchangable" theory. You can't "interchange" a Clapton solo.
:)
Yeah that Clapton solo is quite unique.

Thank you I am reasonably pleased with it. There are a few of Christine's that I would have like to put on but I ran out of room and the balance would have been wrong. I got my favourites off SYW on it (with the exception of Red Rover which lost out to Miranda)
It's not to everyone's taste but we're all different.

8. Silver Girl (I LIKE IT)
Gail
"Silver Girl" is absolutely horrendous. Replace it with "Destiny Rules" and we'll talk.
Here's my pick for a combined album:
1. Miranda
2. Friend
3. Running Through The Garden
4. You Are
5. What's The World Coming To
6. Thrown Down
7. Liar
8. Smile At You
9. Steal Your Heart Away
10. Givin' It Back
11. Everybody Finds Out
12. Calumny
13. Destiny Rules
14. Murrow Turning Over In His Grave
No "Come," No "Bad Journey," No Silver Hurl.

Your track listing has merits I have to admit but I like Silver Girl (I may of course be in need of therapy or some sort of counselling or it maybe too late)
Good job we're not all the same isn't it?
Five Christine songs out of 14 - nice proportion
