Ok, your favorite album may be Tusk, Rumours, SYW, Live, etc.. But what do you don't like about your favorite album?
Mine is Rumours, and maybe I didn't like that Silver Springs wasn't there. But I realized that when I discovered that song and the story behind it, so I guess that doesn't count.
I think I would take Songbird for the last song. And maybe include more songs in general. But maybe if they did that, Rumours wouldn't be Rumours.

My favorite FM record is The White Album (75). I wish the band had covered "Frozen Love" instead of "Crystal." Love the latter but not as much as the former.

My favortite is probably Tusk. And what I don't like about it is the cover. But I know a way to improve it! Instead of some random mutt, have a dog that signifies something; a dog with a reason for being on the cover. How about an African Wild Dog? Given that a tusk is the beautiful ivory adornment of the elephants of Africa, and the song "Tusk" has that tribal beat, it would be cool for the cover to reflect wild Africa as well. Just look at these.

And if you insist on maintaining the aggressiveness of bearing teeth, I have the perfect picture.

Yikes. I think Stevie would hate that one even more than the original.
It's really hard to pick a favourite album in the first place. I want to say Mirage, because personally I love it and listen to it a lot. But it doesn't get the recognition of some of the other albums, which are also really good and which I also listen to a lot.
Anyways...what do I hate about Mirage...Empire State

there´s nothing i dislike about my favourite albums.mr.wonderful has a bit naff cover, but otherwise it´s a great album.
live at the bbc is fantastic but why put jam version of rattlesnake shake at the start.
then play on isn´t my favourite,it would be improved by leaving searching for madge off and still it would be bit disjointed, still it has got some great songs:confused:

My favourite album is Tango.
What I don't like is that Lindsey left before the tour. I don't like that he left at all, but the fact that he, at the height of his sexyness, didn't hang around for the tour and the brilliant DVD that followed.
Also ... Mystified, Family Man and You and I don't really sit well with me.
And the fact that the song Tango in the Night was never done live. It would be awesome.
Wow ... that's quite a lot actually. Woops.

Good question! Except I can't really choose A fave.
So far I have to agree with what some others are saying:
White Album -- "Crystal" would probably not have been my first B/N cover.
Rumours -- mainly that "Silver Springs" was left off (but who knew?).
Mirage -- I also LOVE this album! Okay, I agree with the "Empire State" choice but overall the love is there.
Tusk -- Been listening to this one alot lately. I think the fact that Lindsey's songs sound more like some kind of "sound bite break" between the wonderful Stevie and Christine compositions. Why didn't he put forth any full songs? They all have the same basic "experimenting with Mick" essence to them. Not to say I don't love them, just would have liked to see him give more like he is so capable of doing.
Tango in the Night There's something of a hidden "vibe" that they were really seperating musically. That could just be because I read the articles at the time and then Lindsey left before the tour.
Behind the Mask No Lindsey influence... gotta have that third for balance!
Time Personally, I just love the Buckingham / Nicks part of FM.
Say You Will NO CHRISTINE!! But I love the parts where she's lurking in the background. ;)

My favorite is Say You Will...
and I would probably remove Running Through the Garden and replace it with Not Make Believe.
Same for What's the World Coming To...I'd replace it With Love Minus Zero.
And I'd probably shuffle the songs around a little more so it wouldn't be two Lindsey, two Stevie, etc.
And if I had total control over "fixing" the album, I would include one or two true duets where the two of them were more or less singing together for the whole song.

My favorites:
"Live" 1980 -- it should have had more pictures & probably been a single tusk show
"Jumping at Shadows" 2002 -- the booklet shouldn't have been a foldout because it's too hard to read all the tiny print

Tusk is my favorite album. I wish they used the alternate version of 'Not That Funny' that appeared on a CD-Maxi single as a bonus track to a single (I can't remember which one).
I also prefer the alternate version of Tusk used on The Chain Box Set. Love the USC intro.
That is all. The album cover ROCKS as does the complete album sleeves.

Yup. Just takes me away from myself and puts me in a whole 'nuther mindset.
I love when Lindsey does things like that (see almost ALL of Out of the Cradle).
The funny thing is...I didn't like it the first time I heard it. I didn't even give it a second listen until months later and then...boom...loved it. Strange how things work out sometimes.

Me too. This album was somewhat of a disappointment if only in the respects of what it could have been. Back at the time, I had bootleg albums that had better song selections and better captured the overall event.
I think The Dance was more of what a live Mac album should be.
"Live" just sounded too much like they had to do a live album since everyone does.... here's some tapes.... whatever.....
I do love "Farmers Daughter" and "Fireflies" tho. :)

my favorite album is rumours, but i'd have to say tusk is a very close second ... as others have said, i wish silver springs had been on it, but maybe if it had been on the record originally, we wouldn't have that great performance from the dance :)
as far as tusk is concerned, the only track i ever consistently skip is "tusk" itself.

I don't like it. I empathize with Mick's desire to capture something of the stirring, alienated quality of a post-concert funk, but I just don't think it works on the immaculate, dry-signal atmosphere of the other tracks to have this very wet signal of the live recording onstage at Zellerbach. Sonically, it sticks out like a sore thumb. Both Christine's vocal & her keyboard (recorded in separate takes, by the way) sound as if they were floating in a reverb chamber next door to the gas station restroom.
So that's the one thing I would change on Rumours: I would have recorded Songbird the usual way at the studio & given it plenty of dryness & compression.

i agree that it does seem like an odd choice, and it gives songbird an isolated feel on a very in-your-face record. and while we're on the topic of songbird, i wish they hadn't cut some of the lyrics.

Yup. Even though I said I would have switched the songs on SYW and not made it a bonus track--that actually was just personal preference and would not have been the right move to make. It was a much smarter decision to have a Lindsey-original on the "real" cd.
I don't know if he was headed in the direction of adding a lot of Rolling Stone covers to the cd if it had been a double-album--I think he was just playing with a lot of music at the time--but it's good he didn't. I think we were all really expecting original music from FM--and I think they did a really good job delivering it.

You mean the lyrics about 'your smile makes me feel good inside' etc? IMO it was okay to cut those since she got a similar message across in Don't Stop (all i want is to see you smile). It might've been redundant to say that twice on one album. :)

yeah, those lyrics! you may be right - somebody should have reminded stevie about redundancy when she used that "diomand snake in a black sky" bit twice on SYW!

While this whole incarnation isn't my fave in the 39 year history of the band, I DO have my usual opinionated views:
white album: I don't think they should've covered a tune that had already been released ("Crystal"), unless they were planning on CONSISTENTLY playing it live (or playing it live at all). Since they re-recorded a BN tune, they probably should've made it "Don't Let Me Down Again" instead. "Frozen Love" wouldn't have worked since the guitar solo section is what Lindsey pilfered for "I'm So Afraid", therefore making "Frozen Love" redundant. (My ultimate preference would've been another "new" song in that slot)
Rumours: I wouldn't change a thing. EXCEPT, since the invention of the compact disc, "Silver Springs" should've been on the CD from the very start.
Tusk: Should've been a single album upon initial release...add the second disc (as "bonus disc") upon release as a CD.
Side One:
Honey Hi
What Makes You Think You're The One
Think About Me
Sara
Over & Over
Side Two:
Angel
I Know I'm Not Wrong
Brown Eyes
Sisters Of The Moon
Tusk
Never Forget
Live:
1) As David said, should've been an entire Tusk tour show
2) No new tunes

best album ever recorded by anyone.
the only thing I don't like is that the vinylversion of IKINW is not on the CDversion.
And ofcourse: the CDversion should have been a double, packed in a carton-box killer sleevedesign that takes you forever to unpack.

My favorite album is Tusk. What I don't like about it are "Never Make Me Cry," "Never Forget," and "Honey Hi."
Everything else is wonderful.
My favorite would be Live 1980 and what I don't like is that "Tusk" and "Gold Dust Woman" are not included. But it's still my favorite because of "Fireflies" and that particular version of "Sara".
My next favorite is Rumours is what I don't like is ( I'll be eaten alive  ) is "Don't stop" and "Oh Daddy".

Silver Springs would definitely sound better, but I don't know if I would have actually preferred it to be on Rumours. I don't want to be misundertood: by that I mean that I like the hype it got because of the story surrounding it. If it had been on Rumours, it would not have been the song that it is now, if you know what I mean. No Dance version or Live in Boston version would be so intense if it had been a regular, normal, good track from Rumours. The versions would still be sort of moving because of the Stevie&Lindsey old times affair, but I think that the story behind the song added a lot to those performances.
Just my opinion (and I don't even know if it's enough to justify -after 30 years- the non-inclusion of a song).
