I was just listening to my local radio station...and the dj was saying how there was just a concert conference this past week ,where management and local officials get together...He just announced on the air he had heard Tom Petty and Fleetwood Mac may be coming here this summer sometime!!!!!:] :] :] ..You should of seen my face when I heard this>>after I did a happy dance in the kitchen ,lol I called the radio station to find out WTF??? He said its only Rumours right now..but he heard it from someone who was at meetings..I told him what I had heard through here.and he is making some phone calls to try and confirm it all...

That would drive ticket prices up even more and make it more difficult to get good seats as we would not only be competing against other FM fans but Petty fans as well. yes..well I dont know really...See it was a huge huge deal here last year when the Stones played..eighty five thousand..it was a 5 act concert..big names..(Maroon5 Our Lady Peace Tragically Hip)so they are looking for a repeat at the new concert site..that was built especially for the stones..so the city is actually wanting to bring in big name bands for at least 2 mega big concerts..one in the summer and than again like Labor Day weekend..they are also saying Maybe U2.. for one of the concerts...He is on the phone right now ..:eek:

I have to agree. I wouldn't want to sacrifice lots of money and a large amount of time to see a show that was only half the Mac and half bloody Tom Petty.

Don't get your hopes up, kids. In my experience us fans find out everything WEEKS before DJ's do. Everything I've ever heard on the radio I knew about already, OR it ends up being a mistake. They announced that Stevie was rumoured to do a show here once & it never happened.

oh my god - that is a good sign. it was canada music week here in toronto last week. i actually know someone who was at most of the conferences and stuff. if i bump into him at work, i'll see if heard anything.

stevie and tom together are my dream tour. i would pay huge bucks to see insider done live. not to mention i will run to you. okay. i would actually pay insane amounts of money for that. and you know, if they play Moncton, baby, there's no way they won't play toronto!! :) :) and i'll be at BOTH shows (er, plus the others in detroit, ohio, etc etc etc)

Where is everyone getting the idea that Petty and The Mac are touring together? I thought that they might be on the bill together for this show in Canada and that is it. That is why I asked if Petty was touring. I haven’t heard that The Mac are going to be touring so I would not get my hopes up for them just to do that one show.
Now that does not rule out any possibility that Stevie might join Tom on a few songs. :laugh: She did that back in the 80s. That of course was when she released Bella Donna but now she has nothing new to promote. Chances might be slim.

There is word going around that U2 might be performing here too..Now I really can;t see that happening all at once..But like I said ..its a big big concert venue and the city is going all out to try and get some of the biggest names to perform here.They keep saying they want to Top the Stones performance from last year.After the Stones it sorta put Moncton on the map..so its anyones guess..I have the radio on now and am listening for any news..

Yes it is all speculations when it all gets down to it..But I have to clarify that the Dj has been for the last 3 days on air saying that there is Great possiblty of Petty and the Mac playing here .also U2..so yeah it could be at different times .But the way he is announcing it on air ,he seems to think together..I called him myself and told him of the Stevie interviews from Aus..and how it doesn;t look like the Mac would tour until 2007..He seems to be hell bent on saying otherwise..:shrug: So I guess it all boils down to waiting and see what's up..Although my boss too ,seems to think its going to happen? (we do the stage work and so on for the bands..

They will not even begin rehearsals with FM until Jan. for a tour "early next year". Well I don't see it as a record company cash grab, as likely record sales won't increase from this venture. The record company wouldn't make any money from ticket sales.. Also it probably IS a Fleetwood Mac/Tour Promoter cash grab...which is fine by me!

Hi..no its not a stadium or anything nice like that...I tried to find a link with pictures but they are all taken down now..I do have some pictures of the site and the stage as it was being built..will scan those if anyone wants to see them...
The place is called Magnetic Hill..It basically was a huge field that was cleared years ago for the Papal Site..but when the Stones signed on to come here..more was cleared and fencing and bleachers were purchased..along with staging ..etc...Part of the stage the Stones purchased and brought with them..So to answer your question it is outdoors most assuredly ,,as far as seating goes ..There are some bleacher seating.and beer gardens (Vip tickets with patio and bar) ..for the stones there was also seating on stage..and above the stage..the rest was general admission and you either stood or sat on the ground..I know not to great..(I hung out on stage where the bands entered and exited)..Great seat on one of the equipment crates..:lol:
Anyway..I am not sure if they are going to continue to work on the concert site for a more permanet seating arrangement or not.I sure hope so..but eh who knows..they are a bit behind on things here still..:confused:

There were eighty-five thousand people there that day..There were huge screens set up out in the fields also .along with sound systems..Funny all those people and there was no major problems... It was surreal..
Guess it will depend on who plays with who there...I do know that the people of this city like a good party...:laugh: plus because we are considered the gateway to the rest of the Maritimes,alot of people from other provinces come here..

Thanks for the description and photos. It's not quite the concert environment I enjoy, but looks like it could be fun for a daylong concer with a lot of bands. Reminds me of the "Day on the Green" days in Oakland....that my parents never let me go to. :mad:
