I saw that. I couldn't figure out why.

Because the 1981 HBO special has never been re-released, and the original Mirage VHS is the *full* concert, with comments/thank-yous from band members between songs.

Did we ever decide though, is that an OFFICIAL DVD, or the Brazilian bootleg? Or is it that one that has Stevie videos, too?

Remember there were two VHS releases: one standard stereo (in a black case) & one hi-fi stereo (in a silver case).

Attn Bootleggers: At least use the hi-fi silver case VHS to make your rips!

Multi region DVD players are God's gift to the world.

And as for your sig ... maybe that's what Lindsey's doing! With the whole 14-year wait for a solo album thing...?

On both dvd's the sound quality SUCKS, but I have a partial mpeg file on my computer, and the sound quality is 10 times better than what ended up on the dvd's. So, it is definitely possible to get a better sound quality, I just wished they released it.

The tape sounds interesting, if it is indeed the full concert. If only I still had a decent VCR.

Well I found this version of the DVD in the UK a few weeks ago that I have never seen before. It's not the Brazilian version so I've no idea where it's from. It's by Stax International Ltd.. ?!?

I have a UK PAL video tape of the concert released by Channel 5 in the UK. It's from 1986 and this is the edited version I think. I've also got a US NTSC original from 1983 in it's original cardboard slip case that I got on ebay a few years back. The quality is very good for it's age as I recall (it's been a long time since I played any VCR cassette)

:: points up ::

That's the European version I have. Don't bother getting it, even though it promises DTS sound, I can assure you it will only hurt your ears. :wavey:

Is that what you meant? or did you just mean the "full" original broadcast?

I have the Australian version. The sound quality is really dreadful for a DVD. But I can put up with it - it's not unbearable but with DVD releases I guess we expect better.

I have the Mirage laserdisc version which has excellent sound and video quality (much better than the Brazilian dvd version). The problem is that the laserdisc version does not include Blue Letter, Rhiannon, Tusk and Songbird. Also, GYOW is the encore coming after SOTM whereas in the vhs version, it's the other way around.

Which again brings me to the question. Why would someone pay so much for these?

WOW. I feel so fortunate. I had the wits to buy the (stereo/silvercased) video of Mirage when it was first released. I had no idea that it would become the rarity that it is now. I should have bought more..they would have helped pay off my morgage.

I'd like it on DVD, too, but it would have to be burned with excellent equipment from the hi-fi VHS. I'd pay about $7 or $8 for it.

Be careful in buying DVD's from Brazil. They are usually PAL format (not sure what region it's numbered by), and they might not work on your standard NTSC DVD players.

I'm sure most of you know...but just a reminder to all the Ledgies out there.:)

I've got the Brazilian Mirage DVD. It plays fine in US DVD players. The quality of the program is questionable though. The colors are a little off, and the sound isn't great.
BUT, until they really remaster it for us, it's the only thing available.
I can't believe Mick's not trying to get some more money out of our pockets!

I have this too...my dad bought it for my mom about 25 years ago. The case is almost destroyed!
