Well ... tickets for Elton John at the Point Depot, Dublin, go on sale tomorrow morning at 9:00 and I'm taking a class off school to make sure I get good seats online...
Any tips on how to get the best ones possible? All you people who end up with front row centre at Vegas, for example? :)
Help! Urgent!

I have never gotten great seats by purchasing right when they go on sale. The best way (although totally nervewracking) is to wait until a few days before the show when they release the seats held for VIPs. I got front row for FM and second row for Stevie that way. Many people here have the same experience.
Same thing just happened this week. I got 5th row for Lucinda Williams next Saturday, when last week all they had was rear balcony.

Yikes. I don't think my nerves would be up for that. Sounds good though...

I wouldn't recommend waiting until the last minute. I did that last summer for the Gold Dust tour and gave myself an ulcer! I was miserable the last few weeks before the concert! I was obsessed with checking ticketmaster every fifteen minutes. It was not a good thing!
I got third row in Vegas the second they went on sale though. I liked that a lot better because I could enjoy the anticipation instead of being so anxious and nervous about getting good seats. To get those seats, I just kept hiting the refresh button and the second they went on sale I got the third row seats. Which was so exciting! At that point, I wasn't even sure I was going to Las Vegas. But the chance to be third row was just too exciting! And, I figured if all else failed, I could just sell my ticket. But thank God I went to that show because I got to shake hands with Stevie and tell her how much I love her! :woohoo: Oh, the memories!

I've gotten front row three times by waiting til the last minute, on-line on ticketmaster, starting about 2-3 days before the show, checking about every 2-3 minutes. Did I get an ulcer? yes. Was it worth it? yes.

I got fourth row 2 weeks before a show on Ticketmaster. Second row went up a couple of days later. But my seats were dead center, it was amazing. That was one of the SYW shows. So you don't get an ulcer you can get cheap seats in advance and then try to sell them when you get your good seats or just eat the cost since it is still far less than the price via a scalper. Well, if that is the case where you are, it is here in the States! Good luck, I hope you get fantastic seats!

Absolutely. Any time I've been in the first few rows it's been because I waited until the day of the show to buy tickets. I wanted to go see Aerosmith last month, but couldn't afford it. Just to see what would happen, I logged on to Ticketmaster three hours before the show and could have gotten front row seats! It is extremely nerve wracking the first time, but it's so worth it.
I think the reason for it is that they (Ticketmaster, whoever) are trying to dissuade scalpers. Good luck~

Thanks so much everyone for your advice ...
Fourth row baby! YEAH!!!! :blob1: :blob2: :blob1: :blob2:
Fourth row from the back, mind you ... heehee, nah, just kidding. Fourth row, more to the right than centre but I'm still delighted.
Thanks so much!

I've found some good seats on ebay too. If you keep looking especially right before the show, people will be more desparate to sell their tickets and you can find some good deals.:)
