I was reading through some old articles relating to Lindsey today and in reading an interview from late 1992 Lindsey explained the differences between solo work and Fleetwood Mac work as like "Making a movie" to "painting on a blank canvas"... Fast forward to 2003, 11 years later and he's at it again with Say You Will.
So I thought, We really don't get much out of Lindsey in interviews, maybe a talking Lindsey doll would be a good idea. Instead of Lindsey doing promotional work just send out a toy doll, get the interviewer to pull the cord and see what comes out.. Maybe have ten different answers.. But no more than ten.
So I was thinking what would be appropriate and I came up with these :
1) "Everything goes in cycles"
2) "Well, you really have to look at it in terms of the package deal"
3) "It was a survival move. Both spiritually and emotionally"
4) " My main role with Fleetwood Mac was as an arranger and producer, I was the one who really fashioned the songs"
5) "There can be little gain without some loss and little redemption without forgiveness"
6) "John and I often butted heads musically"
7) "It means a f**k of a lot to me"
8) "Working as a solo artist is like painting. Working with Fleetwood Mac is like making a Hollywood movie"
9) "Isn't that wierd?"
10) "Eventually you can define yourself by the choices you've made"

we don't need the doll, though, he pretty much says the same thing in all the interviews. So really, you only have to read one.

Really? Isn't that weird?
I wonder what you would get from a Stevie doll? From what I've read lately no mention of Lindsey would be a good bet..

Ha..a Lindsey doll, complete with Mirage hat and waistcoat (you could add a couple of interchangeable guitars!)
You should have a thing where he talks about "putting those feelings in that corner of the room, and getting on with doing the music in another"(or words to that effect) A singing version would also be good.

Don't forget:
"I knew he was gonna get a drum solo in there somewhere"
"It's coming out!"
"The point is: here we are!"

"Ah yes, the musical soap opera. You have this dynamic that 2 of the 4 people in the band were once couples....blah blah blah." :-)

Interchangeable guitars? What about interchangeable HAIR?!!
From Rumours to Tusk to Mirage to Go Insane to Tango to The Dance to now, basically.
"Isn't that weird" is my favourite. Also, package deal.

Dont forget to add these gems regarding 'Tusk'
"And that old addage, 'If it works, run it into the ground'"
and
"The execs saw their Christmas bonuses flying out the window."

I'm shocked nobody's stated THE obvious one:
"It was really an organic process."

"It's coming out!"
Yeah but if the interviewer asked "Are you working on a solo album Lindsey?" and you pulled the cord and he said that it would be almost unbelievable.. :blob1:

What about, "While we miss her personally, we don't miss her creatively". (on Christine).

Did he really say that?

Did he really say that?
He probably did, and it probably came out differently than he intended. I think he was simply saying that there is still a lot of creativity in the band, their approach has obviously changed as a result of Christine not being there, that the creative force that remains is still a force to be reckoned with, and that exploring the new approach is something they find exciting. Lindsey's comments are such that people, myself included, tend to read more into them than what was actually intended.

Don't forget "reconvening of these five people" and "fight for the positive choice" and "nothing falls into a simple set of labels."

It was interesting seeing the answers in the SYW tour programme to the question "What will you miss the most about not having Christine on the road with you?"
Mick : One of my oldest and dearest friends.
John : Besides the music, her proximity on stage and a good laugh off stage.
Stevie : Her hysterical sense of humour.
Lindsey : We all miss her grace, dignity, humour and heart, as well as her artistry. On the other hand, this new situation has given the musicians the opportunity to stretch out, to be more aggressive. It also opens up a whole new territory for Stevie and myself.
Hmmm.....

Ah, I see.
Also to be immortalised:
"When love is gone, there's always justice. When justice is gone, there's always force. This is Peacekeeper."
OR, the original version, which I'd kill to hear him say:
"When love is gone, there's always justice. When justice is gone, there's always force. When force is gone, there's always Mom. HI MOM!!!"
