Firstly, Im sorry to start a thread about this,. im just having a bit of a brain block   .Its 11.40pm, im absolutely buggered and i have to have this note written to give to the florist at 10am tomorrow. Im planning on writing it tomorrow while at work, but im stuck anyway :o ....
I've written one for Sharon  , the group , and about to go do Jana's, i do them in calligraphy so they take me around 20mins per short note, stevie's as its going to be a bit longer will take me probably 30-40... But im stuck,. i dont know what to say. Im going to include a small pic of her and i from when i met her in november so ic an try and spark her memory as to who i am. :woohoo:
Let me lay it all (no exceptions) on the table
I want to say:
~how her music still matters
~how i was born on 5/9/81 same day that bella donna hit no 1
~how when i met her i didn't get to tell her the things she has heard so many times before and as i was thorn off balance but not by her
Um and i dont know what else  , i cant remember! ... i've been thinking of it for a few weeks and now that its time to write something my brain has gone to fuz!
Help friends.... help the brain dead aussie!
p.s- yes im going to put up the notes and photo's of the most expensive flowers i've ever bought! (silly maybe, but if im going to go to some effort now's the time!)

Write:
"Your heartbeat...
has driven me mad~
and just like Sara's wind,
as you have taught me, ~ it became crazy...
I too, just like the never-ever-changing sea~
have become...
crazy"

How about:
Dear Stevie,
We met very briefly at the Melbourne Cup, and I didn't get a chance to tell you how much your music still matters, to me, and to a great many other people.
All the best for your upcoming concerts,
Love always

I would leave out the coincidental date of your birth-- she will have met a million Rhiannons in her life and this coincidence will not be as impressive as you might think. Keep the note very very short & simple. I'm not sure why you have sent calligraphied notes to the band and Jana and Sharon etc. Why have you done this?? I think the calligraphy thing sends the message "I have spent 40 minutes writing this note... I am a bit obsessive." Maybe that's just the impression i would get? Nice handwriting would be better, imo.
With all due respect, i think you have lost perspective a little. You are sending Stevie some flowers and a note- keep the note simple- 1 or 2 lines- to make it more likely she'll read it. DO NOT air your grievances re. last meeting or mention that it was less than perfect... you will sound unhinged. I think others reading this thread will agree with that, at least. Do not quote her songs, do not tell her she is just like the white-winged dove etc no matter how tempting it might be. Keep it calm, brief, supportive.

Also, the day Bella Donna hit nr. 1, she found out about Robin being sick.

Ouch. Good thing to bear in mind.
Mel, I think that's really good advice. If I ever send Stevie anything I'll definitely remember it.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
In your own words
Simply tell her that sometimes she doesn't
realize what the fans really want
Speak for us
Tell her that we want the album reissues (with extra tracks, etc)
and we want a new album
Tell her that we love her music and we want a new record
PLEASE!

This made me chuckle.
If it was me, I would just say "Thank you for your songs". That's not one of her lyrics is it?

I would thank her for her music and leave it at that. When you're sending someone flowers, isn't it usuually a way of expressing appreciation? I would NOT mention a thing about reissues, songs, whatever. Honestly, she may not even read the card, which sucks, but could be true.

I agree that it should be kept short and sweet. I wouldn't include anything about being distracted or anything from the previous meeting. Good luck with it!

Yes...I agree too. What you have said is very sensible. Plain handwriting...no long winded message needed.

I doubt if Stevie is spending much time watching television in her room. Who knows, maybe she likes cricket.
I would add something like "thanks for meeting me at the Melbourne races"

Your note sounds fine. I would not make it any longer. I also would not wait for a response....the sad fact is, Stevie may never read the note. A bunch of Ledgies sent her like a five hundred dollar flower arrangement for her first Vegas gig...I doubt she even realized it. :(
(as has been suggested, I would not pressure her for reissues, new albums, push for what the FANS want....that just adds more pressure on a woman who has sounded rather down lately)

wasn't that a practical joke someone else played on her? it wasn't really from don... wasn't it either mick and lindsey or the crew who did it? pretty cruel... but just a little funny, too, all these years later. i bet it even makes her laugh to think about it today..

The first time I heard about that I fell off my chair laughing. Cruel, yes, but hysterically funny.
Well done Jayne! I'm so inspired now. I'm definitely doing something like that when she comes back around.
